New Fenix Download, A319/A321 info and flash sale
james42 replied to Matchstick's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Looks like liveries will need updating again. Ill probably hold off on this update until some of the 3rd party paints I'm using can be updated. -
Active Sky coming to MSFS
james42 replied to carlanthony24's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I can see this going two ways. It's either going to be a total game changer or a complete dud. Activesky was a must have back in FSX/P3D so I'm really hoping they can reach that level again. Will be interesting to see what PMDG and Fenix have to say about using the data to feed their wx radars. -
Ini Is Dropping The a300-600R Today (Update)
james42 replied to btacon's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I really wish they could integrate some kind of multicrew system with the A300 like Aerosoft did with the A320 back in FSX. The FS2Crew guys don't seem to be interested in supporting it unfortunately. Really adds to the immersion factor having a virtual FO running checklists and procedures. -
Tupolev Tu-144.

I could never really get into flying the QW 787. There wasn't really anything wrong with it, but it just didn't feel "alive" like some of the more premium addons. Just had a quick look on the Flight1 website and I see the QW 787 is right on the front page under popular products. So I assume there is still some kind of tech support available for it to be displayed so prominently.

PMDG 737 parking brake?????
james42 replied to cchiozza's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
For some reason, I have to click the parking brake in the VC first and only then it will release with the toe brakes. Been that way since P3D for me with the 737, no idea why. -
FBW320, "better than Airsimmer"
james42 replied to History's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I was an early adopter of the Airsimmer A320. I honestly don't think i ever completed one flight with it. Good external model and VC, but riddled in bugs unfortunately. My go to Airbus for FS9 was the wilco the A320 which i seem to remember actually being quite good. -
Fantastic Just Flight support anecdote
james42 replied to JYW's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Just Flight has to be one of the most upstanding and trustworthy vendors out there. Been around for years and know the flight sim business inside and out. The support has always been top notch. The guys over at FS2Crew are up there with the best too, nothing ever too much trouble. -
You can load fuel and cargo instantly if you use the payload and fuel menus in the MCDU.

SU15 Beta Inibuilds A320neo is out
james42 replied to GeoSkyman's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Looks like they still haven't figured out how to get the terrian radar working judging by that inop sticker. -
Incredible! Looks like the FBW team will be setting a new standard here. I'm really loving all these new developers that have stepped into the flight simming world with their amazing projects. The release of MSFS truly has been a blessing to our niche hobby.

I noticed this too. Touched down on a wet runway with autobrake low, went for max reverse and it initially slowed down nicely. At 80 knots I dropped to idle reverse, at 60 knots i disarmed the autobrakes and the aircraft almost came to a dead stop on the runway just with idle reverse. I thought the autobrakes were stuck on. Its definitely something new, so hopefully it can be hotfixed.

Just fired it up quickly after installing the update. First thing I noticed was an increase in overall performance. On the ground in heavy cloud and rain which would usually result in a stutter fest with the previous version for me proved to be a lot smoother experience. Ill be taking it for a flight later, really hope they fixed the annoying Autopilot disconnect bugs.

I really like SWS PC-12. It's probably the best turboprop simulation I've ever seen in a flight sim, and with amazing sounds to go with it. The only problem for me like many others is the flight dynamics. The aircraft becomes almost uncontrollable if your not off the runway by 80 knots (especially in a heavy crosswind) among other things. They say this is necessary because of their advanced flight model. I think they need to find a better balence between realistic and something thats more usable in desktop flight sim. Appart from that, I'm looking forward to failures and the new EFIS update.

Anyone else noticing very high GPU temps since the block 2 update? Im seeing temps in excess of 80c with the fans in my 3070ti screaming . Never had this problem before the block 2 update. I tried setting the flight deck displays to "prefer cpu rendering" which fixed the temp issues but killed my fps. Not sure what else I can try.

TDS GTNXi Pro with Navigraph Support released!
james42 replied to Tim-HH's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Yes, so you basically have the real unit in the sim with a fully updateable nav database and charts. An up to date nav database is a must for me so I had to use the PMS until now. -
TDS GTNXi Pro with Navigraph Support released!
james42 replied to Tim-HH's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Great news! Instant purchase for me. The only reason i was using the PMS GTN was for the Navigraph support. Now I can finally use the real deal! -
Agreed. I'm a long term PMDG customer and I've been mostly happy with what they've produced over the years. I probably have around 800+ hours in their 747 and 777 and a good number in their 737's too so I've definitely experienced all the ups and downs that come with PMDG products. With that said, I would really like to see IFLY push their MAX out first. PMDG has had the study level Boeing market in FS9, FSX, P3D and MSFS pretty much all to themselves so it would definitely be refreshing for another dev to enter it first with a all new Boeing aircraft.

New Fly The Maddog Release - 0222202
james42 replied to btacon's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I really wish they would do a freighter variant. A good number of MD80s still airworthy are freighters so it would make perfect sense to do a separate cargo model. -
PMDG's "not-yet-announced" project
james42 replied to lwt1971's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Really? I didn't realise that was still a thing. Ill take a Citation X then! 😁 -
PMDG's "not-yet-announced" project
james42 replied to lwt1971's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I would really like to see a larger bizjet done by PMDG. Maybe something mid 2000s like a Challenger 300 or Gulfstream G200. I think they would sit nicely within their product catalogue. Other than that, I would love to see a 747 classic series. Add in the virtual flight engineer from the DC6 and that would be something special. -
Fenix A320 V2 Block2 features deep dive video
james42 replied to lwt1971's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Really looking forward to this. Lots of amazing and immersive features incoming. I don't think we should be comparing it to the Fslabs A320. The Fslabs may not of had the amazing new engine physics, but it did have a fully functional wx radar which some might say is more important. Both amazing pieces of software in their own ways.
