I have this mostly working. I'm still having default taxiways bleed through with everything in the instructions and this thread. Any ideas?

update to this post. I got it working correctly.

What worked for me in addition to having an exclude layer was I had to add default objects to the KGRR P3D Layout file in ADE.. Then I removed default objects and recompiled.

    No more default taxiways!

  2. I get that unicom is no fun, but I don’t fly on VATSIM chasing ATC I fly where I want to fly regardless of ATC online. The people that chase ATC are setting themselves up for disappointment.  For those people though, outside of a handful, if you see a controller’s has been online for more than an hour, expect that they are going to close soon. The average ATC session is about 2 hours.

What makes VATSIM so great is that every airplane you see is another person enjoying our niche hobby.  Getting great ATC when controllers are online is just the cherry on top.

  3. Great Post! So many people are scared of VATSIM and I don't know why. Yes it can seem intimidating, and I respect the people that want to stay off until they feel a lot more competent, but why not jump in and take advantage of the training opportunities there are? VATSIM's own training materials coupled with Authorized Training Organizations like VATSTAR make it very friendly for new users to get guidance and not have to just "go it alone."

Yes, some controllers can be cranky and understandably give negative impressions to the new user, but if you're unfortunate enough to run across one, don't let it dissuade you.. Try again with another controller and I'm confident you will have a pleasant experience.

We controllers love new pilots who have a desire to learn and get better. It's the ones that refuse to get better and view ATC as a burden that get under our skin sometimes!

  4. Both platforms will be available on release day.  The licenses for FSX/P3D are not interchangeable or exchangeable.  For Prepar3D users, we are still planning to protect P3D v3 users if/when Lockheed Martin elects to convert v3 to x64bit.  (it is assumed this will be called v4, but nobody really knows and Lockheed Martin has made NO commitments or announcements in this regard.  As of today, an x64 P3D is not in development that we are aware of any any conjecture of imminent release of same is largely hyperbole...)

    Hello Mr. Randazzo.

Congratulations on the upcoming release. I know that the P3D version will likely be $Texas for many of us and before I drop that on the product I want to be sure of my investment.

You said that you are still planning on protecting users on a conversion to x64 P3D. Imminent or not, is there any reason to fear deviation from this plan? If so, would there be a reasonable upgrade price or would it be the Louisiana purchase all over again?

I apologize for being skeptical, your products are worth what they cost, but it is still a lot of money to invest for what could end up being only a 2 year or shorter return.

    Thank you for the clarification.

  5. I worked with the e-jets for 5 years. fine aircraft. The wilco/Feelthere is not bad. I would give every last cent for the 757 to be given a fair representation though. Pity that airplane has never been given a good rendition.
