The day cloud based gaming becomes mainstream is the day I stop gaming.
-
The difference is the other top "AAA" (Skyrim etc.) titles have been out for months raking in the profits, whereas something like Alaska DLC was only just released. Either way I'm glad I held off on buying it, I was waiting to grab it on sale but didn't expect it this soon.

How to look around w/mouse and keyboard
Fsau replied to billg1949's topic in The Microsoft Flight (2012) Forum
On a similar note, I find that using my joysticks hat switch to look around gives me a jerky motion while panning, yet looking around with the mouse is smooth. Is there a fix for this? -
Probably because most games releases aren't in perpetual development.

Very nice!

DX10 Flashing Runways - Experimental Shader
Fsau replied to SteveFx's topic in DX-10 Discussions, Hints and Help
Hey guys, very interested in this fix but I can't get vsync to work, I'm trying to force it through nvidia control panel with no luck, horrible screen tearing no matter what I do. Is it meant to be set in FSX.CFG? -
Can only cycle Cockpit/Spot View - passing 72degrees north
Fsau replied to 750XL's topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
I've had this problem before, although not on my current install, never figured out a cause or solution though. I found that cycling through views quickly sometimes fixed it and sometimes not, seemed very random. Usually when this happens I have to manually select the view I want. I'd be interested in any possible solutions for future reference. -
Request for alaska comparison screenshots
Fsau replied to jp1018's topic in The Microsoft Flight (2012) Forum
The difference being FSX was the successor to the previous generation, Flight is not. -
I haven't tried flying offline although I can't see that it would help much, I'll do some further testing when I have the time.
-
I get it where it freezes for a moment when someone enters or leaves a multiplayer session, that's annoying enough, but these are constant microstutters like watching a very fast slide show but my frame rate is high.
-
I just started getting stutters today as well, was so smooth when I installed it with the occasional stutter but now they are constant and I haven't changed anything except the joystick buttons. Changing the graphics settings doesn't do anything.
-
I'm sure they are getting right on this for you.
-
I didn't get that directory selection screen at all, Just select your language then the UAC pop up and away she went.

Closing of the FLIGHT forum

Am I the only one that didn't see what the problem was? Maybe I'm just used to the roudy/seedy communities on the internet like, hm... YouTube  -
Hi Bill, the developers preview has the Metro interface although it is very limited in function. As for this solution, yes there have always been "hacks" to the Windows GUI, I know there is a registry hack that re-enables the start menu but I am talking about the vanilla product. MS is pushing for developers to create their "apps" to run from within Metro so even if you disable it you're essentially disabling half of Windows 8. Might as well stick with Windows 7 in that case.At the end of the day it's a tablet OS on a PC and unsurprisingly it doesn't work if you value any sort of productivity from your computer, hell just to shut down or restart now takes a few extra steps, on the other hand if all you do is log into Facebook or play Angry Birds then it's right up your alley.
-
You are running the consumer preview? or the Developer preview? Do you have a build that I don't because I can't find option to disable the Metro interface... Try it yourself if you haven't already, I'm all for change and advancement but there is a reason Apple keep their desktop and mobile OS separate, what works for a small touch device doesn't transition to a non-touch screen, mouse and keyboard environment.*Sorry I didn't mean take this thread off topic.
-
MS is going after the mobile market (predominantly Apple/Android) by developing an OS to run on everything from tablets to PCs, the result for PCs is a horrible user experience. They're taking a big gamble with it just as they are with Flight, going after a bigger market. Completely different products I know but the similarities are definitely there.

If you think Flight is a car wreck about to happen you should take a look at Windows 8 :(

What do we know about Flight's technical improvements over FSX?
Fsau replied to Hirgab's topic in Microsoft FLIGHT Archive
Nope, nope, nope, yep, nope. -
Agreed with all of the above, even just an open world, SDK and the improved code of Flight and I'd be as happy as a clam.

Is this guy for real (Howard) leading ms flight

LOL This is great. You forgot about option © A friendly, welcoming yet balanced forum in which all views are expressed. I don't understand why it bothers you so much to have to read opinions that you might not agree with, such is life.
