  1. I don't think Steam's seasonal sales have much to do with how bad or well a game is selling. Skyrim has been at or near the top of their best seller list for 7 or 8 months and it's on sale.

The difference is the other top "AAA" (Skyrim etc.) titles have been out for months raking in the profits, whereas something like Alaska DLC was only just released. Either way I'm glad I held off on buying it, I was waiting to grab it on sale but didn't expect it this soon.

  2. I don't think the GUI is available in the Consumer Preview release yet. However, there have been multiple "freeware" GUI solutions availble since last September. Here is a link to one with some screenshots:http://www.zdnet.com...windows-8/14976
Hi Bill, the developers preview has the Metro interface although it is very limited in function. As for this solution, yes there have always been "hacks" to the Windows GUI, I know there is a registry hack that re-enables the start menu but I am talking about the vanilla product. MS is pushing for developers to create their "apps" to run from within Metro so even if you disable it you're essentially disabling half of Windows 8. Might as well stick with Windows 7 in that case.At the end of the day it's a tablet OS on a PC and unsurprisingly it doesn't work if you value any sort of productivity from your computer, hell just to shut down or restart now takes a few extra steps, on the other hand if all you do is log into Facebook or play Angry Birds then it's right up your alley.

  3. I have Win8 beta preview and it works just fine on my desktop.
You are running the consumer preview? or the Developer preview?
Um, you do know that you can turn that OFF and revert to a Win7 Classic desktop if you wish, right? :(
Do you have a build that I don't because I can't find option to disable the Metro interface...
Considering portable devices out-sold PC's last year, its a smart move. Also MS is amazingly late to the portable game, they need to really push it to even catch up. Just because YOU dont like it, does not mean it will be a flop. Same goes for Flight.
Try it yourself if you haven't already, I'm all for change and advancement but there is a reason Apple keep their desktop and mobile OS separate, what works for a small touch device doesn't transition to a non-touch screen, mouse and keyboard environment.*Sorry I didn't mean take this thread off topic.

  4. MS is going after the mobile market (predominantly Apple/Android) by developing an OS to run on everything from tablets to PCs, the result for PCs is a horrible user experience. They're taking a big gamble with it just as they are with Flight, going after a bigger market. Completely different products I know but the similarities are definitely there.

  5. How to start an argument online?1. Express an opinion2. Wait
    LOL This is great.
I'm not telling anyone to leave. I'm pointing out that posting the same complaints about Flight over and over is doing nothing beyond creating a negative atmosphere and asking (not telling) those with a negative opinion to tone down their posts and allow this sub-forum to become a positive place for those that do enjoy what Flight is promising so far. Not because my opinion is superior, but because if the options are: (a) a negative forum and no changes to Flight, or (:( a positive forum and no changes to Flight, I think the latter is to be prefered. Since Microsoft has quite obviously decided not to pay attention to the wishes of hard-core simmers, those are the two options we (IMO) have.
You forgot about option © A friendly, welcoming yet balanced forum in which all views are expressed. I don't understand why it bothers you so much to have to read opinions that you might not agree with, such is life.
