  1. It did kind of. I still get the overspeed issue too often.basically the only way I can fly this thi g is with the speed brakes on half the flight. It doesn't seem to help all that much. There are still huge jumps in speed.

I use REX as my weather engine (it does the job but I would recommend Active Sky) and whenever it updates the weather, I usually get big wind changes which cause whatever I'm flying to jolt one way or another and overspeed. After I turned on wind smoothing, that pretty much stopped.

If you're using REX, that might be you're issue.

  2. This is an excellent story and thanks for sharing. I have had a few great crews over the years too, among my favs was a flight I did KLAS-KLAX in the classic.

I always try to get up front for a bit after we land, most crews are more than happy...

BTW, you can get the exact flight plans for most North American Flights here...(your flight for example in the link)

(BTW, love that hig cost index! 52!! I usually fly at 33, guess they were trying to make up a little time?)

I used to go up front after we landed, but since I don't take many flights (and those that I do fly are transoceanic, so ~200 pax to unload at the gate), the habit just dropped out.

And a high cost index? I thought the average was 80! I guess all my time in the big birds has overwhelmed me.

  3. Awesome. Lucky man! Did they allow you to take any photos? I sat right seat once in a AirTran 717 during preflight and still kick myself for leaving my phone in my backpack. No photos or videos. The pilots were so cool and seemed happy that someone took interest in what they did. They were almost geeking out with me explaining stuff.

The most interesting part to me was when they explained how they got their routes and routines before a flight before they even came within 100yards from the plane.

Amazing how much planning goes into a 1 hour flight.

Happy you got to experience something like that!

Sent from my Apple communications device.

They did let me take photos -- and they let me sit in the left seat. I asked him about the joystick flying and he even told me to take a crack at the joystick! It was much smoother and had a lot less motion than I expected. The crew was very open to questions, and didn't speak in layman's terms when I asked them advanced questions. Probably the nicest, most fun crew I've ever flown with!

  4. Hey all,

I was recently on a flight from LGA-ATL, and were delayed at the gate for an hour due to weather. The pilots were kind enough to let people into the cockpit. Since I usually try and fly RW routes, I asked the FO if I could jot down his route. Instead of that, he printed the flight plan init data. Most of us don't usually get these opportunities and not sharing this would be a waste. WIthout further ado, here is the data sheet.

     ==================================================================

    Data Explained:

    Flight number : Delta 1499

No company route or alternate company route was used. The flight originated in LGA and terminated in ATL. The alternate was BNA (Nashville, Tennessee).

The primary flight plan uses the route LGA Runway 13 --> TENNIS 5 SID --> LANNA --> MOL via J48 --> FALCON 8 STAR --> ATL Runway 8L

CSTR = Constraint. If you've flown the NGX before, the constraints listed here are the same as the altitude/speed constraints on the LEGS page of the FMC.

As for the performance data, I'm not so sure what PERF FACTOR is, but I would think it has to do with engine performance. I don't know what IDLE FACTOR is.

The cruise altitude was FL340, the temperature at FL340 is -42 degrees centigrade, and the transition altitude is FL180. As for TROPOPAUSE, I am assuming that's where the tropopause began that day. The flight's cost index was 52.  The zero fuel weight CG isn't listed, but the ZFW was 123,400 lbs. The fuel burn for the flight was 28,000 lbs, with an additional 800 lbs as taxi fuel. The entire fuel for the flight is not listed.

I hope you all put this data to good use! Happy flying!

  5. Out of Memory issue fixed. Thank you everyone! But I still need your help.

I now have a "Fatal Error" issue that occurs in 2 places:

    1. When I end a flight with this airplane

    2. When I change the airplane's livery while on the Free Flight screen

    Please help! :(

In the introduction, PMDG says that changing liveries/making the NGX your default flight will cause it to "load on top of itself," which causes CTDs and a lot of other problems. So basically, once you pick a livery, you are committed.

  6. Your title is not true !!

I use EZdok with the HUD and it works fine. If you look in the settings somewhere within EZdok there is a means to slow the camera down when making new positions, which allows very fine movements so you can get a camera angle exactly where you want it. I have done this and now have two positions one for normal flying and one positioned to use the HGS, changed by clicking a button on my joystick.

Take another look at the EZdok Youtube tutorials.

Thanks, I'll check them out. I'll post a screenshot of the problem so I can get futher help.

  7. Hello all,

Ever since I've used EZdok with the NGX (which is awesome) the camera view for the PIC is not in the correct position and makes the HUD display itself get cut off when in certain modes. I've tried editing the camera within FSX but when I do it only jumps around, not moves smoothly, and doesn't help the problem.

This is especially frustrating, especially when using AIII mode, that I cannot see the HGS and the information it provides.

Currently my options are too much to the left, or too much to the right.

I was also wondering if I could just edit the POV config file to move it without jumping 10 coordinates instead of 1. Any chance I could do that?

  8. Why would he purchase a download service for since the op has stated hes still got the ngx exe and license still

Hi since you still got the exe just do the same as you have done before when you have installed the ngx same proceedure

It was my understanding that the OP had the NGX files themselves and not the exe. If OP has the .exe, just follow pete_auau's advice.

  9. Is this how you greet all newcomers to Avsim? Do Avsim's Terms and Conditions not apply to you? Or maybe you think it's just "cool" to trash people who don't post to your standards. I reported your post to the mods--I'm not afraid to speak out against trash talk in any forum, even forums I don't visit much. Got a problem with that? Please feel free to PM the mods and ask for my removal from the forums.

    John

I really hope that you noticed the 3 times I repeated the word or in my post.

And no, I do not greet all newcomers that way.

Only the ones that sound like they are trolling - which unfortunately happens a lot around the interwebs.

In response to your other questions, yes, the AVSIM terms and conditions apply to me just as they do to anyone else.

Also, in what way am I trashing him? Like I mentioned before, the word "or" appears 3 times, indicating that I am suggesting that it could be either this or that.

And maybe my help is not legitimate, or perhaps you are reading the post in a harsh tone, as it is sometimes when you cannot physically see emotion. I assure you that in no manner did I attempt to trash him, but rather warn other users, or the OP, to not troll, if he was trolling; I also offered assistance in a crude manner, for which was my wrongdoing and, if the OP was genuinely seeking assistance, should ignore my post in its entirety.

One last note - I applaud you on your upholding of the rules and TaC/ToS, and hope you continue to do it.

  10. I'm not an official PMDG member or anything, but I would use PMDG's extended download service to re-download the original aircraft.

This is not to get you to pay more money for anything, but rather that the aircraft needs to be registered in the computer registry, otherwise it may not work properly.
