  1. Interesting story! Unfortunately, I won't be able to use it if it isn't for the FSX version of the PMDG B747. PMDG also made a decent version of the bare-metal Cathay Pacific Cargo livery, but it's hard to return to anything that's standard definition once you've seen and used McPhat Studios textures. . . .

The reason I ask about screen shots is, I recently took some screen shots with the default screen shots utility, but the quality was quite mediocre for such nicely positioned shots. I went on a photo shoot over FlyTampa Hong Kong with the McPhat Studios Air China B747. I guess I'll just have to do it again and use a better snapper utility.

Ah. Maybe that's an FSX specific issue.

  2. I particularly love the Cathay Pacific Cargo repaint! What tool are you using to take these? FRAPS?

That Cathay is one of the all time best FS9 paints. Its one of the original and excellent Corey Ford works of art from the Open Sky days. And your enthusiasm for it has uncovered a mystery! When we went to go find you a link to it, (obviously the original AVSIM link was lost in the great disaster) well anyway Corey had re uploaded it in 2008. It's true and correct title is "Cathay Pacific Airways Boeing 747-400F Bare Metal Conversion" However, when Corey did the re upload, he used the ZIP file for the "Cathay Pacific Bare Metal Freighter (F)" Which is a different paint entirely.

Above if you look at the zip file, it should read BCF not F, the BCF was the conversion paint.

So if you want this precious jem that Corey Ford brilliantly struck from the ether way back then, you must go to http://poskyarchive....7-400/Liveries/ Project Opensky's little pilot light of a website and get it there ( Direct link to paint ► http://poskyarchive....nvert (BCF).zip ) Because the one you will find on AVSIM isn't as interesting really.

Hey someone should send Corey a smoke signal to upload it to AVSIM before the last rocky bits of Opensky finally disappear beneath the waves of time. We sent him an email.

Oh yeah and your other question, we used the print screen button and retouch everything in photoshop. ( We use fraps for our movies obviously )

  3. Shalom!! It is me:):) I forgot info and link for Air Canada 744. Can you please be kind enough to re-send me the link to that plane that you did 2 years ago:):):) I had it in my old laptop that died few months ago and I am on new laptop.

Thanks and pls view my new screenshots here that I made past months!!!

And Avsim forums are much better than POSKY/FSPro forums.

    Aharon

Hello Aharon! The 744 is PMDG and the paint is here http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=139473

  4. Is that Beijing T3 in the first shot with the airbridge 747? Whose scenery is that? Fantastic shots!

Thank you! In that shot is one of our favourite locations, Shanghai Pudong (PVG). The scenery is "Jetways & Terminals For ACOF Package Final" and here's the link http://library.avsim...php?DLID=130820 - It's a nice and simple un-textured scenery pack that has lots of fun places.

    Nice retro United

Thank you! It didn't exist until Abdullah Rahman was kind enough to make it a special request project for us. Lot's of joy to fly that one.

  5. Hey guys! It's been a while! How are you guys doing? Awesome shots as ever!

    Regards,

    Frank

Hey Frank good to hear from you! We're fantastic and hope you are doing great as well =D Guess what? We're going to Punta Cana next week as we did last Christmas. Picked up a new camera so we'l have many new pictures soon.

  6. = ) Thank you!

Nice screen shots! Are all of these your repaints? If so, are they all HD like McPhat Studios repaints?

When I tried doing that with the PMDG B747, the animations would still play at full speed. The result was a smooth video with ultra-fast reverse thrust animations. I really love the landing gear animation of this model. I find that POSKY does a better job than PMDG when it comes to gear animations.

Yea lots of tricky stuff like that happens, for those videos we edited the aircraft cfg files to slow down animations. However, with a keen eye in the first video when the 777 is landing you can see cars on the road racing around because we couldnt slow down the scenery animations.

Well we don't make paints, rather present what we feel are the best ones available in the highest quality possible. Our favourite artists are Tom Collins, Ryan Chadwick, Kyle Schurb and Abdullah Rahman. Over time we began to work with those guys to present new paints they were developing, and collaborated very closely with Abdullah Rahman for a period on several paints. Abdullah also made a custom paint at our request, a UA 747 in the original Saul Bass colours (featured below). Our goal has been to improve the artistic quality of paints available to the community and increase the longevity of FS9 as a viable simulator by supporting first rate paints and models and artists.

  7. Wow! Amazing shots! Who's 777 is that in most of these shots?

    Here you go! http://library.avsim...=root&Go=Search

We liked that paint so much we used it in several of our pre-rendered graphics flightsim videos which were made by FRAPS recording full resolution scenes at 1/4x speed and then bringing them back up to 1x in the video editor, to achieve a frame rate impossible to record in real time. In retrospect that endeavor was somewhat of a failure because the quality of the product doesn't really translate to you tube very well, the local MP4 file is closer to blu ray quality and constant 29.97 fps.

Here's our playlist of flightsim videos if you would like to see them all

  8. WOW!:( You last video was great, but this one is simply jawdropping! Watching this it's so hard to believe it has been recorded within MS Flight Simulator as we know it. Looks like a completly different sim, years ahead of what is available today. The music blends perfectly. I'm lost for words.By the way, would you mind sharing title of the song playing in the second part of video?P.S. I wonder why so few comments here. Is it the big size of file that puts off everyone from downloading it? or i don't know :(
Wow! Thankyou!! Well here's the details:The graphics are 1/4x pre rendered and then accelerated in sony vegas. This is no easy task because when recording a landing for example you must synchronize many things, however it allows for 16X wide tent Super Sample AA, 1920x1200 (which is then cut down to 1080 and also conveniently hides the recording and rate text) and also nearly unlimited clouds. We find when sped up 4x the footage can drop as low as 10 FPS and still come out smooth in the translation. Also some scenes are recorded at an even slower rate. The music! Oh and yes thankyou for the very specific inquiry on youtube! :( What you're looking for is track 4 of Jai Uttal's "Music for Yoga and Other Joys" which is called "Gopala". Now... as to the exact composition of the song, Justin remixed it to fit the footage! So we used to main segments of the song, which are sampled in the other Jai Uttal song you mentioned. Wow! Great ear and thank you very very much for the high compliments!! Regards,Yan and Justin
  9. Propably the best image quality in FS movie i've ever seen. Great music as well.Recording technique sounds interesting, although small stutters are noticable when looking at buildings in the background. During Cathay 747 scene, a little pop-up on green obstacle light can be seen as well. But i would blame it on FSX limitations you're hitting.I wish i had determination, patience and skill required to make FS video that's half as good as yours.Keep up good work!
Hey thank you very much! We agree with everything you said except guess what 100% FS9! ALso stay tuned for an exciting sequel now in production!
  10. On a side note, the Kai Tak 1080P video above required 91.4 gigabytes of fraps recordings and about a week to edit. The recordings were done at 1/4x simulation rate and then accelerated in Sony Vegas for frame rate and AA beyond what is possible in real time. The soundtrack is an excerpt from "Lucid Dreams (October 2005) - Mixed by Cardamar Kick Bong and Morlack".Our intention was to create a full quality 1080P movie that has the same visual properties as our screenshots, in full motion.Hope you like it!
