  1. Welcome to Avsim, Gordon! I cannot really see this as a trend, I think we all have had our very own expections when it comes to software features: Some buy the visuals of a plane more than they buy the systems. So some developers may "get away" with light systems and even recurring bugs. Others buy systems more than textures and models. That's why some devs provide less variants, but more system depth. The question is: Does the advertising/the product description correspond to what the product actually has to offer? And has the software been debugged to the extent that it's largely usable on a PC that meets the system requirements? So, if someone promises you a CRJ 900 and it's not part of the package you bought from him, you have been screwed. But if they never promised you a weather radar, and the wx radar is there, but it just needs some tweaking ... that should be acceptable, IMO. Unless, of course, it's part of a bazillion of bugs that affect the release. And your two recent posts in the Aerosoft forum have just been deleted ...
  2. Yeah, that still happens. Do you have the experimental hotfix 1.0.0.5c from the Aerosoft forum installed already? Should give it a try. As that one doesn't solve all the tracking problems: Occasionally I have to downselect the active waypoint to the scratchpad, select it back up to the active waypoint spot, hit 'EXEC', and that often gets the CRJ back on track.
  3. To be brutally honest: I'm still very much in two minds about that statement!!!
  4. According to the AS documentation it's in. Also an option to set the maximum no. of symbols displayed on the map (on the MFD). (But better ask one of their beta testers for confirmation. )
  5. On the FMS/CDU: Press the MFD MENU button and select/deselect.
  6. Preset in the ERJ configurator is the default hotkey for "speed hold" (or maybe it's your custom sim assignment; for me that doesn't make a difference). Change that to whatever you like in the ERJ config manager. Now, back on topic: The DA/AS CRJ is a heck of a plane, too, isn't it?
  7. No prob, Scott. Currently the default speed hold is disabled in the CRJ; Hans Hartmann is pondering to re-enable it: http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/125843-have-your-virtual-co-pilot-manage-your-throttles/&do=findComment&comment=833513 Use it or leave it - just like the A/T cheat in the fabulous feelThere ERJs! (yes, they have that feature, too!) Oliver
  8. Scott, you know exactly that what I mean is something like the PMDG autocruise feature, just much, much simpler - nobody watches their PMDG plane doing the autocruise; the planes autocruise when we are away from our PCs; as soon as we return we switch the autocruise off again ... (Of course those who don't can't be helped )
  9. Speed hold is not necessarily meant to be "arcade" - I would appreciate the feature for the times I have to leave my computer unattended - or is the CRJ the wrong plane for me to choose in case I still have a real life ... ;-)
  10. If you bought the download version from the PMDG store, it should be the latest version anyway. No servicepack required then. As for the glitches and the crashes, just to test things, run the Jetstream ConfigManager and disable icing effects. For me the glitches went away. This should result in a perfectly usable addon and you can submit a support ticket to PMDG to get the remaining glitches issue sorted. Oliver Märtens (Maertens)
  11. I would congratulate Hans Hartmann on his persistence once the occasion has arisen ... ;-) He's sticked to his goal and he is proving everybody wrong who thought that Hans would have to give up this project. (Really looking foward to my Fokker VC now.)
  12. The best trick in my book is (): Go to the 2D panel view (no 2D cockpit, but the view still exists), hit 'W' until you have the condensed 2D cockpit view (the "sacred six"), and set the heading bug there precisely to the heading you want - you can slew the aircraft that way. More realistically, I'd start with a lead of one-half of my bank angle, try to optimize from there, and hoping that the "automated pilot" provides consistent roll-out rates. (It may or may not and then there is always weather.) Oliver Märtens (Maertens)
  13. This book was some real help for me (quite some time ago, though): https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Instrument-Flying-Henry-Sollman/dp/0070596905/ref=sr_1_29?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1501485707&sr=1-29&keywords=instrument+flying But as others mentioned, the FAA online library covers it all and it's free.
  14. Glad I'm not the only one. Oliver Märtens (Maertens)
  15. I amended my checklist to make sure I configure the fuel system correctly after reaching TOC. I also changed one of the predefined VC views to the fuel gauges specifically, to ensure I have them in my "scan" (cycling through views by hitting 'A' repeatedly). I would wish, though, that the AFE (who's well trained to follow proper procedures, obviously!) would check fuel quantity before switching to a dry tank. Basic airmanship, really! ;-) Oliver Märtens (Maertens)
  16. I only had this once as a one-off when loading one of my saved DC-6 flights. All the other saved DC-6 flights work fine, and I never noticed that issue during a "normal" flight session. Did this happen to you after loading a saved flight or during an uninterrupted flight from takeoff 'til landing? Oliver Märtens (Maertens)
  17. Thanks for the heads up, Julian. Taking into account that the FSC team also added new functions, your OP is even more than perfectly OK. Oliver Märtens (Maertens)
  18. You're correct on both counts: No mentioning anywhere that the AFE manages fuel in the cruise, but he just switched to my dry main tanks during the approach! Looks like that guy could stand a lil' bit tweaking from PMDG ... ;-) Oliver Märtens (Maertens)
  19. To me it looks like the AFE doesn't manage fuel properly. When I switched from the main tanks to the alternate tanks manually, performance of engines #1 and #4 was restored. Oliver Märtens (Maertens)
  20. The warning horn is mentioned on p. 118 of the POH. But I just noticed that the warning cutout button on the OHP isn't clickable. So no cabin pressure warning modeled, I reckon. Quite funny to watch, though, that the AFE will faint before I do, perceivable as a vanishing AFE panel that you cannot open again until either cabin pressure is restored or oxygen masks have been donned! Oliver Märtens (Maertens) EDIT: Tested the takeoff warning horn - which is implemented - and which would be triggered by the altitude warning switch in case of a high cabin altitude.Should be an easy fix.
  21. Found it, thanks! A bit unusual that some portions of the text in the intro doc cannot be skimmed over by the search function (keyword search in pdf documents)? Definitely doesn't work for an 'oxygen' keyword search. But what about the cabin altitude warning horn? Not (yet) implemented or some oversight on my part? Oliver Märtens (Maertens)
  22. Kyle, I found no reference to the oxygen in either the intro doc or the tutorials. That's why I regard hypoxia simulation as an "Easter egg". I tried to trigger the cabin altitude warning (horn), but to no avail. Is that modeled or might be added in an update? Thanks! Oliver Märtens (Maertens)
  23. Wow! Not a single word in the documentation mentions the fact that effects of hypoxia are modeled. Have I just stumbled across an Easter egg for a change? Oliver Märtens (Maertens)
  24. First off, congrats to everyone involved in recreating this rich, immersive, and unique piece of "equipment". During my first short flight and while glancing through the documents and descriptions I noticed a few minor things: Your product page/description für the FSX version mentions "the ability to save and load 3 different flight scenarios" - probably just a copy&paste thing from the product description für X-Plane? The occasional reference to X-Plane in the tutorials as well: At least one of the tutorials for FSX mentions at least one scenery developer who develops for X-Plane exclusively. The new naming convention isn't yet mentioned in the FSX documentation. After installation I could only find one DC-6 version in the aircraft selection under the publisher/PMDG tag. Later on I noticed the other version is available under the aircraft/Douglas tag. This is just meant to be a small heads-up für minor stuff that might get corrected occasionally. A flawless configuration of the DC-6 simulation, an "uneventful" trouble-free first complete flight, an AFE that's even more comprehensive and immersive than I thought it would be, and the immersion created by the visuals/effects and the sound environment make the DC-6 very much worth while and my money well spent. Thank you all! Oliver Märtens (Maertens)
