  1. Robert/all, I noticed something similar, when selecting my brand new awesome DC-6 in FSX-SE: One of the versions (either pax or cargo, I do not remember exactly) shows up under the publisher PMDG selection, the other one could only be found under the aircraft/Douglas tag. So maybe a small hint for DC-6 users would make sense, too. Thank you all (Robert/team/testers) for the excellent and immersive DC-6 and all your updates and upgrades, including the very complete, leaves-nothing-to-be-desired NGX. Oliver Märtens (Maertens)
  2. I would figure that posts in the screenshot forum or in the bargain hunters forum have an advertising effect, too. Would AVSIM staff ever want their members to post those topics in the sim forums as well, when the named developers were concerned? And since a great deal of free advertising is bound to happen anyway (news, livery upload notifications, videos etc.), why not keep the unofficial forums open for clarity and usability? I understand that AVSIM would like to earn additional money from developers by hosting more official forums, but making things harder for those members who, until now, have been active here, probably isn't the most promising way for AVSIM to go ...
  3. Thanks for the heads-up, Luis. Simmarket charge in EUR, so Paypal doesn't have to do any currency conversions for my EUR account. Purchases in USD or AUD can easily be 4% more expensive when payment is provided through PP (due to the way PP calculates those conversion rates). So Simmarket would still have an edge here but, unfortunately, they have to charge 19% VAT each and every time I buy from them, which is not what vendors outside of Europe usually do. The combined effect of 19% VAT and 1,5% Paypal fee is almost 21%, as opposed to 4% for me when I get charged in dollars. Sorry, Simmarket, it looks like you're losing me as a customer "a bit more" now ...
  4. You did it again! Thank you, Gerald and team. EDIT: Your table still reads "coming soon" v2. You'll probably like to make that "v3/QOTS II is in". (or something to that extent )
  5. Discussion on AVSIM after PacSim`s KSLC release is here: Sounds rather favorable to me and some well-known experienced community members added their 0.02 there.
  6. Except for Günther Oettinger. (Check out his YT vids!) Back on topic: It's the B747. You're all very welcome indeed.
  7. If it ain't Boeing, I will just go by bus ... ;-)

  8. I'm sorry for that. Right now sitting in front of a crappy PC with onboard graphics only, most pics are not displayed here. Yes, I was wondering about winds at different altitudes, affecting flight time, too.
  9. If it ain't Airbus I fly by Boeing ... ;-)

  10. Re FSL: Neither plane requires a live internet connection every time, it's online activation, but the rest is "offline mode". It's because of this "feature" why I keep ASN despite using AS16, but is there a "plan B" for ChasePlane, as well?
  11. It's "on the one hand", David - kind greetings from Germany! EDIT: Rafal beat me to it - so kind greetings from Germany and from Poland, David!!! :P
  12. What PGBosak (is that your full real name, BTW?) is talking about is: His plane was flying lower than predicted for many hours, at a less fuel-efficient FL, and still the fuel used matched the prediction. Actual fuel consumption is his point here.
  13. The Thrustmaster T.16000M uses tech similar to the Warthog's for the X- and Y-axis, but has a more appealing price tag. It also has fairly strong centering forces which make it a very precise controller. Have used it mainly for the FSL A320-X for a couple of months, but it's fine for helicopters, trainers and a number of GA planes as well. Can be configured for left-hand and right-hand use, has just about the right amount of buttons on the stick (trim, PTT, A/P disconnect) and a few more on the base. It also has a "twist" for the rudder axis (I prefer pedals) and a single small-ish slider with a limited range for the throttle (I prefer a separate controller). It was 60 EUR including P&P and 19% German VAT (so more like 50 bucks without the VAT), and I've been a happy bunny since it arrived.
  14. You made a good point. Did you enter or upload any wind data? Higher headwinds at higher altitudes?
  15. Can you provide an example where this happens repeatedly? (Origin, destination, route, departure runway, SID, cruise flight level, fuel, weights, cost index - whatever is required to reproduce your issue consistently.)
  16. For how long does it freeze? CI could be the final entry required to trigger complex FMC calculations, so a freeze for just a couple of seconds could be considered realistic. Or does it freeze the whole aircraft or the whole sim for a longer period?
  17. Found it ( ): "The things I want to know are in books; my best friend is the man who'll get me a book I ain't read." (Abraham Lincoln) So: your best friend = Kyle Rodgers book you ain't read = FCOM (And you all thought it's the *OTHER* quote, didn't you?)
  18. Options are: fuel management automatic - sim will not pause during auto-cruise fuel management by user - sim will pause in auto-cruise when pilot action is required So there's something for everyone. EDIT: Auto fuel management seems to be restricted to auto-cruise, though. (The amplified procedures in the FCOM again are very clear as far as manual reconfigurations are concerned.)
  19. My best attempt to explain is, that the -8 actually is the -800, but Boeing wanted to skip the two '0's to conform to the notation of the B787 variants and to remind people that the -8 uses some of the 787 technology.
  20. Lucas, not even the Korean Air website mentions a 747-800. B747-8i: yes. B747-8F: yes. A380-800: yes. B737-800: yes. B747-800: no.
  21. weather radar (requires ASN or AS16), terrain on ND, very good textures, additional visual effects in the VC like sun flares, no. of models and variants included, airline options varying with liveries, nice low VAS footprint, smooth performance even with low fps (equals high graphics ettings, lower settings are totally possible) auto-cruise feature two independent sides modeled (onside and offside CDUs/navigation displays, for example) custom ground friction model and many more, see: http://www.avsim.com/topic/502857-30jan17-pmdg-747-400-queen-of-the-skies-ii-welcome-to-release-week/
  22. Box versions of RealAir planes are still legally available. But I believe that at least the Duke (Turbine?) and Legacy boxes contain outdated versions (v1) with no more chance to update. Also, some stores do box clearout sales, while other stores keep the RealAir box prices fairly high, so you could end up with a high price paid for an outdated version.
  23. "Sully (the FAA/the NTSB) just called and asked me to check something for them."
  24. Both PMDG planes have the "auto-cruise" feature - by the push of a button the sim goes into a predefined (user-defined) time-acceleration. I prefer this to just sitting there for a few more hours in cruise ... ;-) The B744 is the latest and greatest in pushing the limits of your sim - go for it unless you know for sure the B772 is exactly the type of aircraft that you want.
  25. Not sure about the precise cause in your case, Denis, but the B744 ground friction model is completely custom ... and it's official, not an easter egg.
