  1. This. All the big guys are making tubes; we need hi-fidelity GA aircraft .. utility GA aircraft & you know; bush planes! Which is why I love the DC 6 .. it's just a whopping big bush plane. Wouldn't mind the DC 3 and Otters, Beavers, Pilatus 6's, Cessna 185's, 58/55 Barons, Aztec's, Commanche's, Cessna 208's, 207's ...
  2. Look I'm not an expert, but the DC 6 feels more *alive* now .. sound's are AWESOME and really add to the immersion. The whole plane feels a lot more fluid than it did previously and even the taxi feels different; I feel like I'm sitting in this big vibrating crate of nuts & bolts and aluminium, can just about smell the fumes. I also noticed the slight compression when applying the brakes and I could also *feel* the compression on landing which I couldn't pick previously .. basically she *feels* as I would image how she would feel .. great job PMDG! Thanks again.
  3. Hi Iain, you have these options which will probably work .. will be testing the ez pushback later myself. http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/19258-ez-pushback/ (I think this will be the better option of the two) http://x-plane.joanpc.com/plugins/xpgs-ground-services ... (I'd only use the pushbackoption with this set ...)
  4. Fantastic! Thanks, downloading now ... can't wait to get my mitts on her.
  5. It sounds like you may be blaming the wrong thing. I recommend you read these 2 articles for more insight into your particular issue; http://support.precisionmanuals.com/kb/a108/vas-management-stopping-out-of-memory-oom-errors.aspx https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/markrussinovich/2008/11/17/pushing-the-limits-of-windows-virtual-memory/ Good luck.
  6. If it's the video I'm thinking about; I believe it had *tone* and *attitude*. You also don't know if they viewed the video or not, however if an individual is truly interested in helping developers improve their product, it can be done without the under-current of ridicule; which I picked up a number of times throughout the presentation. For those of us who seek to help I hope we can use civil communications with a keen eye to the feelings of all concerned. People also need to learn to GIVE productive criticism. Just because PMDG (or any company/individual) sells a product doesn't mean the people in it don't have feelings. That's my opinion and believe me, we'll all get further that way!
  7. Wow! Thanks Mario. Very useful information, have favourited your blog.
  8. Thanks Mario .. btw I agree with the perspectives previously about your plane .. it is fantastic thank you very much! I too prefer the Original for some reason. I'll be checking out the West coast!
  9. Ok .. just bought the full package based on Jimmy RFR's review .. the clincher being LAdamson's perspective. Downloading now. Any recommendations where to fly in Europe or the US or indeed anywhere with good VFR scenery? Where do you guys fly .. and why? Cheers!
  10. Dan, if memory serves me, you update your Signature in profile settings to show your first name and surname.
  11. Thank you Robert, it's wonderful to see you mixing it up in the trenches sir. Congrats on a beautiful aircraft for X-Plane. Re - that flat spot; the trick is to keep 'em guessing! Re - sounds, I probably weighed in where I shouldn't have due to the fact that I have high frequency hearing loss and tinitus ... so if you're happy with the sounds (as a RL DC 3 owner/pilot) than count me as convinced! Actually there's a terrific bloke on the X-Plane forums known as JetJerry who used to be an experienced Caribou pilot and he seems more than happy with the sounds. The Edit: Now using Mr. Chiswicks recommendations and (almost embarrassed to say this ...) turned my volume up. Happy with sounds! lol
  12. Khamsin Studio's HU16 Albatross LES DC 3 DDENN Grumman Goose Sir, I'm ex military & I flew a lot in Caribou's in SEA. I would imagine that the 4 rotary's on the DC 6 would've made a right racket .. the Caribou did with 2. The main issue for me is that the sounds don't feel dynamic .. they feel flat (I'm not a sound engineer). Otherwise I love the PMDG DC 6 and am really happy it's here .. that you guys (PMDG) are here!
  13. ah ... I see that FSX only uses an ordinary paralytic equation... XP on the other hand must use an extraordinary paralytic equation...is that what he means by CBS?
  14. Yes sir, Australian. My wife was an air hostess for Ansett in the 80's.
  15. Ok ... been flying a bit longer and she is definitely in my stable of must have aircraft. Many nuances, I look forward to exploring her secrets. Re the sounds in general ... I think they're just awesome!
  16. I actually think it's a polished and laudable module Mario and is a high standard. My comment was largely tongue in cheek aimed at those posts that use that term in conjunction with PMDG's entry into X-Plane. All of that aside, I'm happy with the module and I bought it to support PMDG in X-Plane. The D6 is definitely study sim level and will do splendidly as my frontier cargo plane ... I'm a bush flier @ heart . My reference to the study-sim level of an Otter though was very serious! P.S. Just noticed a burst of static every time I change views ... not a biggie and I'm sure it'll get ironed out.
  17. Not bad PMDG ... a fair start but not yet a *game-changer* to paraphrase an over-used expression. Great sounds; always love the sound of a radial and now I have four of them in unison! I think it's a good addition to X-Plane and I'm happy that there's another developer putting out a quality product. Now for your next product may I suggest you do a study level sim of the Otter and the turbo Otter and I'll sing your name from the roof tops.
  18. Not sure how you can read that I'm extolling the virtues of EZDOK from my previous reply ... In fact EZDOK is often quite a frustrating experience for me after X-Plane, however I'm relatively happy that I can occassionally fly the Twotter in FSX and EZDOK enhances that experience ... somewhat. I'm happy that the other bits of software you mention heightens your immersion .. but I'm resolved that I won't spend another red cent on FSX. Thanks anyway .
  19. No need to ... the new installer will automatically take care of that ... and flawlessly too I might add
  20. IMO it's not about inheriting the crown. I think (and hope) there will be room for more than one sim. Along this vein I truly hope that P3D becomes a viable platform for the people who are drawn to it. For myself, I'm interested in both and would like to see both improve over time. Eventually, I suspect that the main sims will all reach the same point as far as the fidelity of the experience is concerned, without losing their unique strengths. Agreed that critique is important to further development, however this I believe is more constructively conveyed with a positive outlook. After-all, we don't want the devs who work on our toys to feel they are not appreciated. It would be misery working that way!
  21. Oh well, here's some of my perspectives and why I disagree with your POV. I fly with SkyMaxx Pro ... with Joan's NOAA weather generator ... clouds easily rival REX. I have REX for XP 9 .. and Essentials for FSX. SkyMaxx Pro trumps them both. There's HD Mesh to be had and scenery's are there and getting better (same landclass to be used in 10.30). Airports are being built and the WED tool is actually becoming useful. Traffic Generator is maturing ... albeit slowly. The planes are getting better ... magnificent in some cases ...Pete's DH-2 Beaver is due out soon too. My XP world is replete with goodness  . Yes, I'd definitely say that my XP experience has improved a LOT since a year ago .. I guess my main point is that the 'plausible world' aspect is like a 'default' that you can choose to keep or modify your scenery to suit. Same with the default clouds. It's irrelevant that the standard clouds look sucky. I just disable the option and use SkyMaxx Pro .. and my framerates increase to boot. I think every default sim needs extra stuff to make the experience viable on a subjective level ... for me this is now the reality for XPX, and I count it as being extremely viable for my subjective taste.
  22. Well that's a bit pessimistic of you HiFlyer! The situation with terrain and art assets have made a huge leap forward. The new landclass soon to make an appearance in 10.30 and the HD scenery completed by altpilotx ... the lego brick concept ... it's all working out for the positives IMO. Besides that, I feel that many people tend to be a bit selective and myopic in their interpretation on what constitutes a great sim (example of my subjectivism creeping in). It's so subjective that it's almost pointless discussing ... as one is likely to get as many opinions as there are flight-simmers.
  23. I haven't checked, but if there's a corresponding aircraft in the official aircraft list, then the answer should be yes. Just don't forget to update the aircraft description in the FSE plugin when you load the plane.
