  1. RNAV ≠ LPV. There are basically 4 types of RNAV approaches (technically 5, but one isn't common), of which LPV is one. Differences involve various combinations of horizontal precision and whether or not vertical guidance is provided. The most precise of these is the LPV. KORS has no approaches with vertical guidance. Scott
  2. ?? There are no LPV approaches at KORS. Scott
  3. Sounds like the problem is with ATC. IRL, when winds favor takeoff and arrival to the west 26 would be the normal arrival runway and 25 would be used for departures. KDEN is actually well designed to produce short taxi distances for both arrivals and departures under most wx conditions. But if you're sent to what would normally be an arrival runway for the given conditions then yep, you're basically going to find yourself taxing the entire length of the runway plus some, and given the high elevation, all of KDEN's runways are lengthy. But that's not how the airport is designed to work. Scott
  4. Hah. Of course! 🙂 I also discovered that they have a Facebook page where the images can also be found. A response on their page indicated that other elements of their business have been taking up most of their time so they've not done much with their airport design work recently. Date for KSAF release was now said to be "sometime in 2019". Scott
  5. Have to admit I visit their pages often just to see if KSAF is progressing as I'm really looking forward to this one. Flew there many times IRL for weekend getaways from my Northern Colorado home. Their KBLI is really very nice so it's fair to expect similar quality. It's been in the pipeline for quite some time, but hope springs and all that. They also apparently have Kelowna BC in progress as well - another airport I'd love to have. Scott Edit: Scott, where did you find this pic? Just checked their site and didn't see it there. Thx.

    Train Simming

Yeah, that's the thing. It's the nostalgia that's the attraction more than the idea of a detailed realistic sim. The Flushing line would probably be a fun one as well - hadn't seen that before. A ride out to the late, but not so lamented, Shea Stadium could be fun. Scott

    Train Simming

Yep, this. I took a break that lasted almost 2 years not that long ago, but eventually the interest ramped back up again and I'm back enjoying semi-regular flights. Lots of other interests out there to keep me occupied when the sim flying stales a bit. Back on topic, for some reason the London Underground sim intrigues me. Not enough yet to actually try it, but I've been tempted. On the other hand, if someone did a quality sim of Chicago's "L", I'd be first in line. As a kid growing up in Chicago, I thought a job running the "L" would be the best thing ever. As an adult, well... I'm still very much a kid. Scott
  8. Very nice Howard. Valdez is a great place to do a first flight vid, that's for sure! Scott
  9. I tried "=10" and saw no substantive difference in general use - that's not saying you couldn't go somewhere and find something that was sharper on close examination, it simply means that in normal flying it looked the same to me as just using the high-res checkbox in the GUI. I also found that the claim that you need more than 8GB of video RAM is absolutely true. With my 1080's 8 GB, my otherwise smooth running system became a stutter fest as I was obviously bumping up against my VRAM limits. And then there are those load times... After one curiosity driven trial flight, I deleted the line from my .cfg. I am perfectly happy with the the default "hi-res" settings in 4.4. Scott
  10. Yes. I currently have BlueSky tiles installed for all of Utah and see no issues with them. Scott
  11. @BillS511Like you, I have SCA installed and the KTNP compatibility patch for it. That may somehow apply, dunno. BTW, I tried your change DB and reboot workaround and it didn't work for me. After hitting the button to reboot, I unpause the sim and when the new reload starts it goes right back to paused and hung again. It seems for me the only way around it is - don't park in spot 7. 🙂 Scott
  12. Perfect! And thanks again! Scott
  13. Well, if possible I'd certainly love to be able to use it (even if as a partial credit, since I don't know what the costs will be) against that 600 when it comes! Scott
  14. Thanks for looking Bill. I did take the trainer and set it to the coordinates I get at spot 7 as shown in FltPlan Go [N 34.13618, W 115.94255] and I'm able to start the trainer from that spot and move around, for whatever that's worth. The workaround (and now workarounds) are pretty simple, so I'm certainly not going to lose sleep over this, but it is doggone curious. Scott
  15. Well, wow! Jean-Luc pointed me this way from a thread in the Fight Sim 650/750 forum and I'm stunned! Thank you SO much. Your products have always been central to my FS enjoyment, and the level of support from both you and the community superb. So again, thanks to you and to all the other contributors here. Now, the only problem is... I've been a satisfied customer for a LONG time and I think I have all of the RXP products that I can use - from the old V1 430 & 530 and unlimited package that I used back in my FSX days, to both GTNs and GNSs for FS/P3D. I don't use XP so... I'm not sure that I can take advantage of your generous offer. Scott
  16. Thanks for the response Jean-Luc. Well, this just gets stranger. AV was actually the first thing I suspected. I have the RXP folders in Program Files (x86) and Program Data excluded, pieces still seem to be in these folders, and my AV says that it has not quarantined anything recently, so I that didn't seem to be it. The only thing I'd done since the last working flight was plan a new flight at Fltplan.com, restart wx and fire P3D back up. After I first had the issue, I did reboot but the problem persisted. Tried multiple planes, restarted the sim multiple times, started the trainer manually to see if it was working properly (it was).. This morning, I decided to try one more time and the 750 came up perfectly in the Bonanza. What!? What had changed? One thing only - I started at a different airport. So, I went back to where I'd had the problem (29Palms' KTNP) and sure enough, the problem returned. I next tried changed to starting at a different spot (moved from spot 7, to spot 1) and... it worked again. Back to 7? Nope, doesn't work. So, the problem seems isolated to one (or perhaps more, I haven't tried others) parking spot at 29Palms' KTNP. That's. Just. Weird. Problem solved (or at least worked around) for now, but if anyone has any clues as to why a specific parking location at a specific airport would cause this, I'd love to hear them! Scott
  17. I'm suddenly having a very odd problem. In any airplane with the 750 (or 650) installed, when I turn on the avionics master the GTN displays the initial Garmin screen and then the sim goes into Pause mode. When I unpause the sim, the GTN is hung with the initial screen displayed (in the VC) and blank (in the popup). Nothing can coax it back to life. I first encountered the problem in the A2A Bonanza, but testing shows it happens in every plane I have the 750 and/or 650 installed in. P3D v4.4 and the latest (v2.5.10) RXP version installed. Everything has worked flawlessly in daily flying since 2.5.10 was released until tonight. Thanks for any assistance, Scott
  18. Frankly, I'm not all that concerned about SIDs and STARs either. But for the smaller airports where I typically fly, support for updated GPS approaches are becoming more important. I read Sean's post (and thanks to him for taking the time to explain things) and I have to confess - I still don't understand how LPV approaches specifically and GPS approaches in general are going to be handled. No, it's not an issue which will prevent a purchase, but I'd still like to better understand how this will work and what the ramifications will be. Since I fly 100% GA to mostly small and regional airports, when flying IFR I fly far more GPS approaches than I do traditional ground-based approaches (ILS, VOR, NDB) in the sim. Scott
  19. JV was responding to a thread about Orbx and PBR (which is not used in any Orbx product) so he was right about that. However, there's no question that regions and airports which incorporate large amounts of photo scenery are much improved in 4.4, just as all photoscenery is. What was blurry before is now crisp and clear. The OP in that thread assumed it was PBR which was responsible, and of course it is not. Scott
  20. Indeed. Many thanks for getting this out in such a timely manner. Thanks Jean-Luc! Scott
  21. I've missed the sharp photo scenery I used to have with FSX, but didn't miss the extended loading time. Le sigh 🙂 There's no such thing as a free lunch! Indeed Howard. I'm not sure the VERY long load times are worth the bit of extra pop that "=10" gets you. Among other things, I guess I'm going to have to get disciplined about disabling non-used photo scenery like I used to in FSX. Still - no complaints. I'll gladly take the extended load times to get back what photo used to look like. Scott
  22. I wonder if that's the key. I don't use Vector, Global or Landclass. If there isn't a full-fat region in the area, I prefer to use photo (a mix of MSE and Blue Sky). And I don't have the problem others seem to have in Orbx SoCal. Sure, I have the occasional pause in the middle of the LA Basin, but never for more than a second and only very occasionally. Correlation or causation? Dunno. The other piece that may help is that while I have all of the other SoCal features enabled, I do disable Orbx AI (Labeled General Aviation AI but this does not disable P3D GA, only the Orbx GA AI package). Scott
  23. Well, that looks ridiculously easy. Yep, that's exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you sir! Scott
  24. Agreed - the beer scene in the US has changed drastically in the last decade or so. While mass produced "American" beer is still generally awful, there's so much good craft beer out there that I don't why anyone would drink the other swill. Perhaps I'm spoiled, but the craft beer available in Colorado (which IS admittedly a craft beer meca) goes WAY beyond just IPAs. As for PBR's reprieve, there are dive bars all over Chicago sighing in relief. Scott
  25. When flying on an IFR flightplan, airspace warnings really aren't needed and in complex airspace it gets tedious either living with a constant blinking icon or repeatedly clicking on it to read and shut off. Is there a way to disable? I have looked in the Garmin docs but haven't stumbled across anything. [I know as soon as I say this someone will point me to the correct page - and that's fine. My ego can survive a gentle nudge in the right direction 🙂 ] I HATE things blinking at me! Thanks, Scott
