  1. It's a glitch in the current driver set. See this: http://www.avsim.com/topic/473369-problems-with-full-screen-mode-in-w10/
  2. I have a SP3 with W10 Pro and I've never had the fan get loud "early on" in use. I have multiple tabs of Chrome open and the fan still won't get loud. It only gets loud if I have multiple programs opened that are CPU intensive. Out of curiousity, which SP3 do you have? Mine is the 128GB i5 version.
  3. To be honest, all the privacy related issues are solvable by simply not using a Microsoft Account to log in to the computer and disabling the related settings.
  4. You're not supposed to put a key. Just click "Skip" and W10 will self activate when you connect to the internet.
  5. There are no keys in Windows 10 if you upgraded from W7 or W8.1. Everyone has the same key...
  6. When upgrading, you're not supposed to put in a product key. Just click "Skip". Also, you're not supposed to use an ISO. Just use the Media Creation Tool. Forget about the reservation icon. Use the Media Creation Tool.
  7. When you upgrade from W7 or W8.1, you don't get a W10 key. Your computer is simply "authorised" to run W10. Setup puts this information on your BIOS. Everyone who upgraded from W7 or W8.1 has the same product key for W10, whether it's the Home or Professional edition. It seems MS wants to move away from product keys and into hardware activation.
  8. You might have some extension installed on Chrome that's causing this. Click Settings on the top right corner of a Chrome window, click More Tools, click Extensions. Check to see if you have any shady extensions installed. Usually these garbage extensions are installed with certain programs. Make sure you always read what the program is installing, don't just click "Next, next, next".
  9. Simply don't use a "Microsoft Account" to log in to Windows. If you don't use a Microsoft Account, and you turn off all the Privacy related telemetry settings, W10 doesn't spy on you. MS only "spies" on you if you use their "apps", their "Windows Store", their "Microsoft Account" services, etc.
  10. Windows 7 is probably more expensive now than Windows 10 because it's no longer sold officially (kind of like FSX). Just buy W10... I've had 0 issues with FSX after an upgrade from W7, so why would there be any issues on a clean install? Like nutikati said, check with the manufactures of your hardware and see if they have released W10 drivers.
  11. Looks like Nvidia is aware of problems with FSX: http://www.avsim.com/topic/473369-problems-with-full-screen-mode-in-w10/
  12. I don't use fullscreen mode, so this doesn't really affect me, but for those of you who do, check this out: http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/355.60/355.60-win10-win8-win7-winvista-desktop-release-notes.pdf Go to page 23 of the PDF. It looks like Nvidia might be aware of problems with FSX running in fullscreen mode. It says:
  13. W10 will never be subscription. Period. MS may try to do this subscription garbage system with Office, but it won't catch on. I know I will hold on to Office 2007 as long as I can.
  14. Would love to meet the fellow who voted "no"...
  15. Use the search box that's built in. Or, use the new "Settings" thing.
  16. Emirates has some really weird routes... Dubai to Panama City?? At the moment, Dallas DFW to Sydney by Qantas is the longest flight. Wikipedia has a nice list of the longest flights here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-stop_flight#Currently_scheduled_.28top_30.2C_by_distance.29
  17. Yes. Go to Windows Updates, Advanced Options, View Your Update History. And if you click on Uninstall Updates, you get the classic Control Panel list.
  18. I'm running FSX in W10 in DirectX 9 mode with no problems at all. My aircraft "preview window" started working again after I deleted and allowed for a new FSX.cfg. One thing I noticed is that UIautomationcore.dll was deleted automatically during the upgrade. Not sure why, but it was. I had to redownload it and replace it in the FSX root folder, and that's it.
  19. Yes, there are performance boosts. Subscription based? No, it won't be. Please put your pitchfork away.
  20. No. USB or DVD only. MCT = Media Creation Tool. Forget the white Windows logo in the taskbar. The "reservation" system is kinda broken. Just upgrade right away using the MCT.
  21. Are you using the Media Creation Tool or the reservation thing? Forget the reservation, use the MCT.
  22. You do realise that Microsoft "support" is outsourced, and their employees barely speak English? You won't get anywhere if you call Microsoft for help, sorry. Have you tried reinstalling FS9?
  23. I think you need to do the upgrade at least once so that the key can activate W10.
  24. You can if you want to. Windows setup allows you to create and format partitions.
