  1. https://www.vg247.com/2020/09/03/microsoft-flight-simulator-1-million-players-date/ Bodes well for add-ons and the future of this franchise.
  2. OnAir is a lot of fun. I currently am playing on the "Thunder" server (no AI planes) and have rented both a G36 Bonanza for some short hops and a TBM 930 for longer hauls. To me, OnAir combines the best of FSEconomy (the freedom to find the right plane for the job and rent it anywhere it is available) and Air Hauler (more realism, damage tracking, experience, missions, etc.). I've never been able to keep a company going for long in Air Hauler because I get too bored with being tied down to a starting base location, so OnAir is great if you prefer more flexibility.
  3. Remember that 80% of France takes the month of August off for vacation.
  4. I agree. I think this is a fix on their end rather than anything to do with the client software. I say this because the bug is not universal and some geographies have correct weather.
  5. Maybe I am overly optimistic. Post 169 here is the official statement on the Simconnect patch. It was written two days ago, so I assume it will be included in the first patch. https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/simconnect-stutter/162526/169 Here is the source for the patch announcement: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/patch-incoming-on-the-27-exact-time-unknown-follow-instructions-if-you-use-liveries-and-custom-scenery/214475/2 It has not been confirmed as yet by Asobo, as they say only that they will announce the patch release date tomorrow.
  6. Good news. MS also confirmed that the Simconnect stutter bug is fixed in this patch.
  7. That's not true for every plane or every geography though. I flew across a good section of Colorado yesterday in the XCub and had little to no movement at 12,000 feet other than mountain turbulence effects (very cool!). I could let go of my controller for minutes at a time with no change in altitude. This was with live weather (clear day with light winds).
  8. This. Don’t listen to the snobs. The default planes are adequate for what they are. The full realism planes will be quite costly (more than the sim itself). That’s fine for those who are into the full realism experience, but the default planes are great if you understand their limitations and what MS is trying to accomplish in bringing flight to the masses.
  9. Can’t wait for missions and, hopefully, a career mode of some sort (although I’ve been having fun with OnAir).
  10. Live weather is one of the best features imo. It has been perfect for me so far as I fly around my home area. Winds and sky both perfect. A lot of complainers on this board.
  11. The only stutters i have had have been when SPAD.next is connected since it uses simconnect to interface. I understand that this will be cured in the next patch or two. The sim is by far the smoothest of any I have played (3700X and GTX 1080 on high setting using latest Nvidia driver).
  12. I flew live weather in Alaska about an hour ago, and there was wonderful fog.
  13. The default setting for my T16000M is great. Minus 50 percent sensitivity and 3 percent dead zone for pitch and roll. My rudder is pretty similar. Throttle at 0 sensitivity (linear).
  14. Other programs like SPAD.next that use Simconnect are having stutter issues. Not the case for FSEconomy?
  15. I'm no expert, but are you waiting until 13 NG to add fuel (low setting)? Waiting to see 30 NG within 30 seconds? Once stabilized at around 53 NG (at least that is the mark in in the TBM 900), move to flight idle. If you wait too long and leave it in the low setting, it is prone to overheating because the prop is not spinning fast enough. Also, i'm not sure how much is simulated, but make sure you start the process with a cool engine and a good battery.
  16. It’s kind of funny that we are all hyped for a bunch of default planes. I don’t think I have ever flown one in another sim other than the C172 and the Zibo mod for the 737. It speaks well for how far Asobo has come. I too love the TBM in XP (best GA in any sim imo). If the new model is half as good, I’ll be happy. I have tentative plans for an around the world trip in it, but I’ll probably get stuck with a lot of bush flying in the Cub or other small planes. Such problems.
  17. Hmm, so the expert pilots with thousands of flight hours in GA aircraft who say that FS is the most realistic consumer simulator ever are not as knowledgeable as an armchair hobbyist? And the years that Asobo worked with the manufacturers was all for show I guess.
  18. Have you tried Self Loading Cargo? It is much better than FS Passengers in that respect.
  19. Has anyone seen a video that benchmarks different cards in the sim? All I've seen are ones like QPilot who compares different settings. I'm especially curious about a GTX 1080 at 1440p rather than 4k.
  20. It would be great to have a raft or kayak in the plane and be able to seamlessly go from flying to rafting. I could see developers adding fishing apps and the like.
  21. Sorry of this was posted earlier (I haven’t read the whole thread), but at least for the 172, this guy flew one shortly after flying in the sim and says it had the “exact touch and execution” of the sim controls. https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2019/09/the-new-ms-flight-simulator-taught-me-how-to-fly-an-actual-plane
  22. I think that those who are dissing the default planes without actually flying them are ignoring the fact that Asobo spent years working with the actual aircraft manufacturers, who presumably know how their planes should fly. Will every plane be perfect? Of course not. But the new blade element style physics will ensure that we get a lot more realistic aerodynamics than exist in P3D.
