  1. Could slow aging.... but do we then all move as slow as sloths? 😃 🤔https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2024/03/240326170055.htm
  2. The sim is improving at an almost dizzying rate, especially when you think of the centuries long wait for DX10 for FSX, the money spent on endlessly re-buying P3D, or the glacial pace of mostly refinement rather than advancement that the genre stagnated in for so long..... For myself, it would have been nearly impossible to imagine the blistering speed of monthly progress that's now gone on for literally years and shows no signs of slowing down, with a new version close on the horizon. Meanwhile, we kibbutz on the metaphorical porch, mint julip's in hand as we discuss the relative importance of things barely discernible as anything but minutia to the likely majority of users not self-selected to opine on navigraph and other cloistered venue's.... SSDD.
  3. Hmmmmm. I just went and used DLSS Swapper, and all seems to be fine. I suppose I could go into more detail with it all, but is that actually necessary?
  4. Yesterday, I found and contacted an old friend that I had not seen in years. She told me she was not on facebook (she hated all of that, much like many members here) and she had neither a computer nor a tablet (she had given the one gifted her away) and no interest in either. She had the same phone with the same number she had had years ago, and that was all she needed or wanted. Later, I reflected that for her, she was till technologically in about the year 1980, and that was pretty much what I expected. (Still love her!)
  5. Keep in mind that todays Beta update almost certainly reverted DLSS to an older version for anyone who was using an updated file. Also, all your settings would be reverted to default.....
  6. I've always thought that the purpose of the sim was so we could pretend to be pilots, or recreate some of the feeling of being one for actual pilots. I can't believe anyone actually thinks we're gonna essentially get "real" plane fidelity on our home computers from a $60 entertainment program...... I think it's to their credit that Asobo is going to the lengths it already has, for what numerically probably amounts to a niche of a niche. (And an ungrateful one at that!)
  7. FS-Traffic really does have only a relatively tiny hit......
  8. Interesting. This is probably an immediate buy, for me. https://www.roadtovr.com/homeworld-vast-reaches-vr-quest-2-3/
  9. Was flying through MSFS non-photogrammetry NY, and was kind of annoyed at the lack of different textures. I wondered if there was anything better, and found these guys. So..... Not exactly sure its better, but it seems it may be a bit less uniform than Blackshark..... Dreams. It apparently works with Bing maps, and there is a free model of New York to play with for those with the skills/knowledge (Which is not me!)
  10. Too hard and it might become nearly impossible to import to Xbox? For my part I expect and accept such compromises
  11. Has work/profitability really dried up that much on the other sims?
  12. Hmmmm.... My post was hidden. Reading it again, and don't see anything controversial.....
  13. Hmmmm...... I'm not a weather maven; I tend to fly in what catches my fancy, weather canned or live. So to be fair, the tiny differences that perturb some are not even really discernable to a mostly casual flyer like myself. What I do know is that MSFS is offering a fidelity+visual package of the kind that we couldn't even have dreamed of not all that long ago. That we are still not satisfied seems par for the course, but I wonder if i'm the only one who remembers the FPS hit of the third party clouds for X-plane, for instance. The limited viewing range? The state of the art at the time but decidedly sub-par visuals by today's standards in FSX/P3D? (though both are updating) The rotating billboards? The extra FPS hit when using god-rays or shadows? The absence of cloud self shadowing, and the lack of reflections from the city lights below? The lack of turbulence from buildings? All potential immersion-breakers that were expected and widely accepted and not very long ago.... I certainly remember.....
  14. I wonder if there's something proprietary to the Meteoblue pipeline that might make it harder to work with others without byzantine non-disclosures. (pure speculation!) And, (shrugs) there might be tech MS doesnt want out in the world yet, either. Together we could probably all come up with loads of potential reasons with greater and lesser degrees of likelihood.
  15. I suspect it may be because the software is so intricately interconnected, considering all the disparate technologies being brought together, that introducing an outside element invites all sorts of secondary issues; which we will then not be shy (or slow!) to comment on bitterly and at length.
  16. Welcome to The Prehistoric Age! Step back in time to when dinosaurs ruled the Earth and see yourself racing, flying and swimming with these pre-historic creatures. Dinosaurs for MSFS enables you to be a time traveller to see the Earth roaming with these big lizards from our past. From the ferocious T-Rex to the gentle Stegosaurus, Dinosaurs for MSFS has them all. Get ready to marvel at the wonders of the Mesozoic Era as you learn about the different species, their habitats, and the fascinating facts that make them truly roar-some. Race alongside them in our custom-made dino rally track (ICAO: PHJP). Located where the famous film series took place, our Jurassic Track will pit you against raptors as you weave in and around harping turns. Discover the remnants of a deserted campsite, but beware of the T-Rex on the loose. Dinosaurs expands on the world we created with Animals for MSFS in ambitious ways that will surprise and delight you. Take flight and soar amongst the ‘Rulers of the Earth’.
