  1. Not a newbie to FSX, but still one to MSFS.  I have a subscription to Navigraph, which I've used for years for FSX

I've not seen mention of specific aircraft in MSFS that 'use' Navigraph data in lieu of the default navigation data.  Do all aircraft in MSFS use the Navigraph data if you install it?

    Thanks..

  2. Typically the textures are stored in folders within the aircraft's SimObjects folder with a prefix of Texture.  Use the default aircraft's SimObject folders as a reference.

There are also instances where an aircraft may install files in the base Effects or base Texture folders, but these are only a few files and not the textures files required to display the aircraft's livery colors.

    Hi

I am trying to set up my numpad to control the cameras in fsx VC

If the cameras are currently accessible by key press you use something like HID macros to access them.  The app also has access to some sim variables if the cameras use any of those.  I use it with an add-on keypad to open 2D windows(GPS, etc.)

Another possibility is Auto Hot Key, but I haven't used that in years.

BTW, HID macros isn't supported anymore, so if you do decide to give it a try watch for any conflicts with FSX.

ave you guys encountered this issue and if yes, how did you resolve it? Also, are SP1

FYI, Acceleration contains the SP1 & SP2 updates, so you would only want to install them if you opt not to install Acceleration.

    SP2: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8986 or https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/2796/flight-simulator-x-service-pack-2/

    SP1: https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/1950/microsoft-flight-simulator-x-service-pack-1/ or https://www.gamefront.com/games/flight-simulator-x/file/flight-simulator-x-service-pack-1-english

  5. Sorry, no.  There must be FSX Boxed users who haven't experienced this issue, but none have posted.

The only 'fix' I've heard about is to use a locked pre-update version of Windows 10. Then never update it. Not the best solution, but it seems to work for those using FSX with Windows 7.

As for me, I mentioned my solution in a previous post, but I still get API.DLL crashes.  Just not every time I launch FSX.

    Hi There fellow simmers!

I have some aircraft (AI) that I want to see in the aircraft selection menu mainly to see if a texture shows up or not. I read that there are a few numbers 0,1,and 2

I'm not sure what number it should be for the AI aircraft to show up. Any help would be appreciated.

If you can't figure it out then give AI-Aircraft Editor a try.  No need to set numbers, etc.  Aircraft won't show in selection menu, but you can examine each one in the Model Viewer.

  7. I've seen mention of this on the Steam forums, but hoping someone has a resolution.

I recently set up a Logitech XBOX compatible controller to controller to control my Drone camera. That's it's only function, all other bindings have been removed.

While the aircraft is parked, no engines running while in Drone mode at some points I get a "Stall.. Stall.." warning.  If I ignore it, eventually it crashes me into the ground.

Somewhat new MSFS, but I assume that the Drone camera is independent.  Is this a known bug and if not any suggestions on what steps I can take to resolve it?

    Thanks

So I am planning to reinstall and hopefuly after DISC 2 I get the validation page, where I can enter thekey and I should be good to go again...

Personally, I would download the free version of Revo Uninstaller.  Uninstall the existing copy of FSX and use the aggressive post-uninstall scan to try and remove as much of a trace of FSX as I could.

Unfortunately, that means all installed add-ons would go also, but it might make the success of the re-install more promising.  I would also manually delete the support folders in Program Data and Roaming.

If you don't feel comfortable with such an aggressive approach, then the re-installation of disk two might work out.

Either way.. I hope you get back to flying soon.

I have had FSX Gold for years. There are two product keys in my boxed version, one for FSX and one for Acceleration. I have had problems with Activation, so I'm for the moment stuck flying 30 mins. flights, I get the message I have to activate...But when I click "Ok" on the buttom all goes blanck and all I get is a Black Screen???

I'm sure it's been mentioned before, but with the issues that you are having why not just use Revo Uninstaller and do a complete install of FSX, with the aggressive post-uninstall scan?.

Then pickup FSX: Steam during a sale and install it instead. Since it's though Steam you won't have the activation issues that you now face and you'll have a fully working copy of FSX.

I'm thinking of writing a utility to convert "MSFS" pages to the "FSX" version and vice-versa. The TP pages are just text files in JSON format and can be edited externally (very carefully, of course).

    Would that be useful?

    Thanks,
    -Max

    Max,

I'm not sure about others, but I relish the idea of learning how to create my own pages, but I'm guessing others wouldn't mind a few pages being readily available for FSX.

I might even make use of them myself. 😀

  11. If you decide to give Touch Portal a try be aware that with the MSFS plugin installed some of the pages will work with FSX without modification or the FSX Plugin.

Therefore, since the pages were created using the MSFS plugin I would suggest installing it in addition to the FSX Plugin.

If the pages work 'as is', great.  If not, then you can create a new page or modify the existing page to use the FSX plugin. If you modify the original page please do not distribute it without permission of the original author.

  12. Max Paperno, who is the maintainer of the MSFS Touch Portal Plugin has created a version for FSX users.  It uses Simconnect version 10.0.61259.0, so I don't think it is compatible with FSX:SE, but you can try.

Currently it is only available at this link, but he will posting it to GitHub in the near future.  The paid version of Touch Portal which is required to run the plugin is currently $13.99 USD.

There are multiple pages that can be used with it, but because many of them were written for MSFS, some may not work with FSX.  You can locate them by doing a search on Touch Portal pages and also at the original MSFS Plugin page on GitHub.  Just look for the sub heading 'Pages and Examples.

For me, it always seems to be when I try to connect external programmes. It's not any programme in particular and can crash when I connect any of them. E.g., vasFMC, vPilot, FSrealWX, VA ACARS, etc.

The only executables I run with FSX are Chase Plane, Active Sky 2016, SPAD and HID Macros and those are launched though SIMStarter.. I thought Chase Plane was my problem, but if I didn't pair it with FSX using SIMStarter it worked.

I haven't tried vPilot since my move to Windows 11, so i should give it a go. Unfortunately, I don't use any of the others you mentioned so no feedback.
