  3. After reading my last post I realized that I only kinda-sorta answered your question. Yes, AIM will allow you to download flight plans, but they aren't usable as such. You still need to do the things I mentioned above to make them into useful BGL files. Depending on your level of experience and how much you want to learn about flight plans I would suggest downloading AI Flight Planner. It takes an even more manual approach to creating flight plans, but it's a really good lesson on how flight plans are constructed. You can even open the downloaded AIM flight plans in it.
  4. Select Online -> Available Online from the main screen. Highlight the airline flightplan that you want to install for example "Air Canada Express". Click on "Install". Once the Flightplan Installation map pops up select 'Install Manual'. That will bring you to a list of aircraft. Select the aircraft that you want to download the repaint for and click 'Download'. Once you have completed all of the repaints, then you need to specify the 'Path' where your compiled flight plans will be stored and then click on 'Compile'. That will create the BGL file that FSX requires. So no, AI-Manager will not automatically install your flight plans. You must compile them yourself once you have downloaded the liveries and installed in the aircraft config file. Ergo, the time and patience I referred to. That feature is only available in P3Dv4 and possibly MSFS. What you doing with AI-Manager is installing the correct liveries and telling the flight plan where to find your aircraft, since that varies with everyone's installation and then packaging (compiling) that for the FSX AI traffic engine. 5. The advantage of the AI-Manager system is that the flight plans are frequently updated, aircraft coincide with current aircraft and have the correct liveries. The downside is the time and patience it requires to put everything together. The downside is that it takes time and patience.. Lots of both. Because of the available flight plans I found it unrealistic to try to incorporate all of them. I do almost all of my flying in the US and Canada so I limited myself to those carriers that were either based or serviced those.
  6. I use Alpha-India's AI-Manager. It's written for P3D, but has limited support for FSX. The major downside is that while it does almost everything automatically for P3D, large parts of it are a manual process for FSX. That is why I don't recommend it unless you have tons of patience and time. It literally takes "hours and hours" to install and maintain as flight plans are updated. Also, while the authors have been pretty good about keeping FSX in the loop for liveries, with MSFS, P3D and FSX to support that is waning. I wrote a tutorial last year if you want to browse it to get an idea what using AI-Manager with FSX involves. Links to both are embedded in the message above. Good luck. Ernie
  7. Click on the hyperlink embedded in Alpha-India in the initial reply I posted.
  8. Take a look at AI-Companion in the Alpha-India website. It's no longer being updated for FSX, but the FSX/P3D2/P3D3 version still works great. I'm almost, completely, positively sure it contains a traffic limiting feature. Don't know if it contains a traffic zapper feature though.
  9. What are you machine specs, such as memory? Are you using the freeware "lite" version from Avsim library or the commercial version from Just Flight or other source?
  10. It's best to assign key values using the controls option in FSX or FSX:Steam. If you can't find the event_id there then you either can't assign it or would need something like the registered version of FSUIPC.
  11. Don't currently have MyTraffic installed, but there should be a configuration program that you can open that will help with setting up the traffic, etc. Not sure if it's call MyTraffic.exe or not.. Look around the MyTraffic menu shortcuts that the install created.
  12. Also, what scenery are you using for OTHH? The Project OTHH scenery has OTHH correctly postioned, but uses the ICAO code OTBD because when the file was created there were no flight plans using OTHH. I am using OTHH by Menno C Robert and the aircraft are accurately positioned. The only consequence of using Robert's file is that OTBD still shows in FSX, but since you have no aircraft flying to it, it's not an issue.
  13. Not sure I can help, but just a couple questions; 1) Have you deactivated the default FSX traffic file?, 2) Do you have the OTHH scenery? Thanks..
  14. Scruffy Duck use to offer an small application titled "SimpleAirportScanner". Darned if I can find it on their new page although you might be able to find a copy by doing an Internet search.
  15. Here's what a Google search brought up; https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-client/deployment/event-10-is-logged-in-application-log. The article says you can ignore it, but gives a solution to stop the messages. Another article says it is caused by some root worms, but that is from Vista days. Would suggest putting the whole message in Google and doing a search to find the various messages from others regarding it if you haven't already found a solution.
  16. It wouldn't be all that hard to open the default FSX aircraft traffic file in AIFP and just substitute the liveries that you want to use for the default ones. For example the FSX traffic file reuses the same three A321 liveries for seven flight plans. Substituting your own liveries would enable you to have different ones for each of the seven flight plans, giving you more airlines. Also, you wouldn't need to alter any aircraft.cfg files since ATC would be looking at your substitute aircraft.
  17. I have Orbx, REX, Active Sky, etc., but quit chasing perfection after I realized that my enjoyment came from flying the aircraft and not viewing the scenery. With FSX I think this is the approach you have to consider because it's never going to compete graphically with MSFS.
  18. I too use Simstarter NG, but also use SceneryConfigEd for quick adds, moving scenery order, etc. During beta it was the goal to maintain complete compatibility with SCE, since Capt. Pero was also a fan.
  19. Scenery Config Editor on Source Forge.
  20. Are you using a specific 3rd party AI program, such as Traffic Global, etc.? MyTraffic X requires an entry in scenery.cfg, but it's added during installation. There may be others. In my case I'm using AIG flight plans and have them in a non-standard location, so I had to add the path to the scenery.cfg file.
  21. If you are using the default FSX AI and haven't deleted anything then there isn't another location. However, if you're talking about third party AI, then you might need to add the SimObjects folder containing the aircraft to FSX.cfg, which is in AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/FSX.
  22. Unfortunately, the author decided to pull the FSX version of SIMstarter NG from the marketplace, so it is no longer available. Sad because it's a great tool.
  23. Just remember if you do, you're going to have to repurchase any aircraft and scenery and I'm not sure if PMDG offers a FSX to P3D upgrade pricing..
  24. Here's the AIG manual install tutorial I wrote for FSX if you can't find yours; https://www.alpha-india.net/forums/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=30325.0;attach=65422
  25. Another frame eater is AI aircraft. Also, having shadows on tends to cause FPS drops.
