  1. Given that no sim is perfect, it is interesting how you can reject the visuals of one sim, but then spend hours trying to improve the dated visuals of another. Those ortho and experimental cloud efforts (to me) do very little to improve the dated looking sim. Not to mention the time involved. By the way...is PMDG actively supporting / updating the DC6 for the latest versions of XP11? Are they announcing new planes for XP? Or have they abandoned XP as a development platform?
  2. Like other sub-forums, people will feel free to share their opinions here (even if its criticizing XP). Your conclusions as to why will not discourage them from doing so....
  3. I recognize that LR is engaging much more now than they did in the past. However, I think that more will need to be done (via a roadmap) when XP12 releases. I am not saying that they need to go as far as livestreams every month etc. However, simmers want to see where things are headed (even if they don't have much input into the decision making process), and "generally" when it will get there. If XP12 released with "some" great visuals, but still had things it needed to work on; I would be more inclined to purchase XP12 if there was a roadmap for those outstanding issues as opposed to silence on the issues. Given that these type of sims are always a work in progress....communication / engagement is key to keep folk invested (with things to look forward to) for the long term.
  4. Not to mention the extra / continuous revenue that LR will have by operating their own store, and a second source income to fund further "frequent" development. He certainly has continuous revenue from the mobile platform via in-app purchases. Beyond any features included in X12, I think that Austin needs to build upon his engagement with the community (have a public roadmap after release), and create an income stream (such as an integrated store) beyond the initial sale.
  5. NVIDIA LHR cards have lower hash rates that won't appeal to miners in an effort to free up the demand so that "gamers" can access them. Time will tell how effective this move is, but I don't the availability will get much better this year... https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2021/05/18/lhr/
  6. I believed and also supported the idea that MSFS would charge a subscription for all users to pay for the streaming content, I also believe (if the store should fail) that MSFS can charge a subscription for what they may call high fidelity scenery, particularly when they stop the free world updates. Users can get the regular (current) content for free, or pay a surcharge for the enhanced scenery. Time will tell, but with 20 new products hitting the marketplace each week, there may be enough funding there already. So this would mean that both Google and Apple "extort" money from the Devs putting apps on mobile devices, and even the Org store. One of Austin's biggest issues is that he can't raise money beyond the initial sale to fund frequent major development (quarterly / monthly etc.). Some on this forum even suggested that he uses mobile revenue to fund the stagnant development for the desktop application. Many Sim Devs raise money through addon residuals, in app purchases etc to fund "frequent" development. Austin should have had the vision to offer a one stop shop for "his" sim. Imagine if he had the "store" revenue of the ORG and X-Aviation.
  7. Agreed, but I think the best offering is commitment to frequent development. Exactly, I think that the community now realizes this, which is why engagement and frequent / future development is much more important than what is released on day 1. When DTG released TSW2, they also released a general roadmap / timeline for when things would be added / included, one being the longstanding support for the RailDriver controller. "Major" quarterly / monthly updates are becoming the norm these days... I think that LR will need to assure folks that it will be committed to frequent development, especially if XP12 falls short of any requested / anticipated features on day 1.
  8. I think this is an issue. I would only buy XP12 if certain features were included and there was some commitment to further development... So how many people will continue to just stick with XP11? And how will that impact the sales / funding / for future development of XP12 after release? TSW2 still has less players than train simulator 2021...which is 2 generations behind.
  9. @Murmur , I don't see forums as an "us" vs "them" with respect to the sims. "You" came in "here" to post etc. I don't have stock in the developer, and I am not a 3P Dev for any of the platforms. If you say that you don't like something about a particular platform, fine. I can agree, disagree, or agree to disagree....but this collective persecution of a poster that says something negative about a platform is ridiculous. With respect to LR...Austin has always been "in the dark" per se with respect to where he was taking the sim and Coupled with sluggish development and years gone by, I just don't think that goes over well today as the community is getting more and more used to real engagement and frequent development. A teaser vid showing lighting weeks ago, and these betas where the changelog is basically the "same log" is uninspiring. No real communication about what is coming and general timeframe just leave more room for more devs and users alike to look elsewhere.
  10. To me, it doesn't really matter the intent behind the question, the answer is still the same. Will it be in a future beta? Will it be in XP12? The issue is still the same with LR not engaging with the community. No, they don't have to...but the sim community (planes, trains, and automobiles) are now lookging for that engagement given that sims are never really complete upon first release.
  11. Naw, like I have pointed out, and history shows....how you and other XP gatekeepers like to bring up MSFS and start debates in the XP threads. You then sit back and place blame on those who criticize XP....diversion / distraction at its best. Even your post here...has you placing blame elsewhere. Sometimes, you do much better just sitting on the sidelines cheering everyone else on with "likes".
  12. Naw, I don't think your TBM would have sold much given that MSFS has one stock. I think this is why you didn't switch. But as you mentioned in this thread...there is another thread talking about devs making a killing from MSFS... And apparently a small user base as well...that can't fund / support major development. Hey, I have only commented on things that you introduced into this thread...you brought in the word fear, not me. I only showed you a mirror. The world (or this forum) does not revolve around your personal grievance with posters that criticize XP. You can name me in posts. and make comments about wising up etc. None of that has any impact on my (or other's) opinions about XP, or our desire to share them on this forum. Good luck with this pointless crusade...
  13. Actually it was @Janov (another XP gatekeeper) on page 1, you actually like that post. Not hard to fact check... But it is typical for you to shift blame when someone shows that you tried to add fuel to the fire. Nice try...
  14. Hey...My point is that if threads are closed due to debates....why are the XP gatekeepers constantly bring up MSFS in XP threads to start debates??? I am fine with coming into an XP thread, discussing XP only and not bothering to debate about the competition.
  15. Let's be clear, i own XP11, and would buy XP12 in a second if there was enough new features (cloud, water etc.) and a commitment to continued development. No fear here... I think it is more probable that the fear resides in those who are invested in XP only...and spend 5 pages debating the same people who criticize XP.
  16. I don't insult people for their opinions or tell them that they should leave a thread on a forum board that I don't own. I am also wise enough to know not to demand that other people stop "quoting" me in a thread that I "post" in. There are many 3PD Devs making great products for great platforms...and not arguing on forum boards about the fact that XP has not made many advances over the last 5 five years.
  17. Just an example of how you look to bring MSFS (be it comparison or otherwise) into the conversation...then sit back and blame others for debates about XP vs MSFS that leads to closed threads.
  18. Any Light-sport aircraft announced / expected?
  19. I agree, dealing with the public (in general) is no easy task....and you can't please everyone. But a 3 month delay is a sure way to please no one. To each his own, the flight sim crowd is a tough bunch. Sounds like you have grown to a point where your tolerance level is no more. I get it. Yeah, I did one job in retail....never again.
  20. You were incorrect in stating them nonetheless.... To be honest, there are many freeware offerings out there, we don't miss your contributions, but thanks for sharing your thoughts about what you were going to do. So...15 year olds want timely updates like other stores...how dare they!!!!
  21. i have many games on steam, but the civilian sims (both XP and MSFS) I get directly from their respective stores. The installs / updates (to me) seem to be more straightforward. Also, if you want to participate in betas for MSFS, this option is currently only available to the MS store users.
  22. at least a week vs almost 3 months are two different stories... The thread clearly shows that the Dev failed 2x at getting the approval prior to the sob story. Not an accurate account of what folk said... There was a general disappointment about the Devs lack of attention to MSFS users. Other aircraft Devs were able to get their updates approved. And even after the sob story, the Dev claimed he would need at least another week...that turned into over a month...no excuse for that. I was not talking about every issue, just one where a Dev (and apparently you also) thought that it was acceptable to make MSFS Marketplace users wait almost 3 months for an update, all the while selling a broken version on the store to keep the revenue coming.
  23. As I stated, the Jabiru version on the marketplace had the flaps issue that required the update to fix the issue. All other stores got the update with the Marketplace being months behind. Excuses do not erase these facts. It was not a weird situation, just an extremely late update with both Dev and Asobo to blame. "Interestingly no-one on the MS forums got upset with Asobo" If Asobo gave a sim update to steam users, and then waited for 2 or 3 months to give that same sim update to the Marketplace users, surely folk would be upset with Asobo. The blame for the Jabiru issue was properly put on the Developer who should have been able to get the the update on the Marketplace. Asobo should have banned the Dev from selling the the broken version on the Marketplace and ensured that all Devs make timely updates to the store. Plain and simple...
  24. Exactly, and (to me) Asobo has ignored the late update issue....it was a question heavily voted on and not addressed in their livestream. This is a huge issue, the Iris-Jabiru update was delayed for months on the marketplace, and it suffered from the flaps error that needed the update to correct. So much so, that one user stated that he purchased a second copy from the Devs store just to get the fixed version. Up until about 2 months ago, I only purchased from the Marketplace, even patiently waiting for products (like Vegas scenery) to arrive on the Marketplace. But the update issue (more so Asobo's silence about it) really struck a nerve with me. I am all for supporting the Dev...but I refuse to sit around frustrated about delayed updates when another store has it available. My money has to work for me first and foremost. With that said, i still purchase some product from the Marketplace, but major product Devs like Orbx, I now go directly to their store.
  25. To each his own, but I think that the 2M+ pilots are drawn in by the constant / frequent updates and engagement from the Dev. As much as I like Helo flying in XP, LR (over the years) lags too much in the update / engagement area for me. For me, VR does not matter. For folk with panels / full cockpit setups (like me), VR simply does not work well when trying to click physical (not virtual) buttons, or interacting with a kneeboard / EFB etc. I can, however, see why someone would like VR for Helos... and I think it is a beast for drone flying. I think many would disagree with your various positions on flight modelling / machine capabilities etc. To me, the viability (release / constant development etc) of a flight sim depends on "mass" appeal leading to a strong user base that can fund constant / frequent development to improve the specific areas. I can write a list of issues (from my perspective) with each sim, but that is just where it is at today, where it will be a year from now depends on those frequent updates. With a major release once a month, any sim will advance pretty fast...compared to what we have experienced over the past decade.
