So, after some time with the 7800X3D, I am now getting absolute bonkers performance in MSFS. Here I am in the hand-crafted YSSY, with the WT787, Live Traffic and getting 165fps lined-up in the runway (as seen on the bottom left). On cruise I am seeing 250fps+! And this is with no less than 5 screens (3 of them used for MSFS, gauges and FMC)... Need limit that to 120 with the NVCP, as the built-in limiter does not seem to be working.

He basically states that the benefits of V-Cache are less evident when GPU usage is high. I agree with that, but that does not seem to be the baseline scenario when running P3D with AI, add-on aircraft and payware scenery, especially with a 4090 installed in the system. With this in mind, it should be pretty easy to see the benefits of V-Cache in P3D, but I just could not experience this boost, whereas in MSFS and XP I did see a marginal improvement in similar extremely CPU limited scenarios. With that being said, P3D is not my main sim and I just installed it to compare the new X3D with my previous builds (13700K and 7600X based). Isn't there a single hardcore P3D user out the who is willing to make videos showcasing how different hardware perform? Not necessarily, with Frame Generation you can basically double your frames without using extra watts. Even though I understand that this is personal preference, the jump in fluidness from 30 to 60 fps is pretty dramatic to me and the fact that I can achieve that in virtually every scenario is a huge plus. If P3D V6 incorporates modern rendering techniques like FG or DLSS, then you should be able to experience this as well. In any case, this new build is awesome and should serve you well for a long time indeed.

Not totally sure how (and if) AI benefits from V-Cache, especially on P3D. Nevertheless, if you are targeting 30 fps, I don't think it would make much difference anyway. Best to have a more future proof AM5 based build. Just built my second AMD Rig and I will probably remain an AMD costumer for the foreseeable future.

"The median salary in China is 29,300 Yuan (USD 4,111) per month." http://www.salaryexplorer.com/salary-survey.php?loc=44&loctype=1 Even when considering GDP per capita, the amount is over 10x what you suggested.

You don't need a 4090 to play XP12 or MSFS. For the second, a 150 Euro Series S would do. Microsoft also offers regional prices on Xbox and that makes a huge difference for millions of gamers in the global south.
-
That is hardly true. China is the second biggest gaming market in the world and Brazil the 10th. Indonesia and India have huge potential as well. Going forward they will all be more relevant than the UK market.

The amount of free stuff we got since MSFS was released is astonishing. I would have no issues whatsoever paying for a new version after four years.

PMDG released their 737 on Xbox just some weeks ago. It did not have any influence on the Navigraph survey, if that is what you are referring to. No clue what your question at the end is all about.

Didn’t you say previously that PMDG would never release their add-ons on Xbox, or that the MSFS roadmap for 2023 was inexistent due to lack of budget? In any case, I hope your latest prediction materializes.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 - Announce Trailer
GCBraun replied to Zangoose's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
This announcement is great news, as it keeps the MSFS franchise in the spotlight, allowing for a fresh intake of users and extending Asobo’s support and update strategy for the foreseeable future. 2024 will evidently inherit all improvements made to 2020, including world and avionics updates and, for sure, there will be new features and capabilities included until the release next year. While the transition will be seamless for those that have purchased their add-ons via the Marketplace, others stores should offer support pretty much on day one. Don’t see why existing developers would halt or delay releases either as we are talking, essentially, of the same core platform. Looking forward to MSFS2024, 2028 and beyond… -
For MSFS that may still be true for a while, even though I would consider the A310 a very good candidate. As for XP, there are tons: A340-600, MD-11, 747-200, 767/757…

I am currently experimenting using the Asus ProArt PA147CDV as an instrumentation display for airliners and other glass-cockpit aircraft on MSFS. This is a very compact 14" unit with a 1920x550 touch-screen that costs around 500 Euros. My initial impressions are positive, especially when using modern avionics that support touchscreens like the 787 or G3000/5000 units. The unit is somewhat smaller than I would have wished and quite expensive though, so I will need some additional days to decide if I keep it or not. Here are some photos and a video showcasing my experience so far:

There will always be shortcomings when we are talking about simulation software. I have always used 3rd. party weather solutions on other sims, and would happily use them in MSFS if there is indeed "a much more capable engine" available in the future. What I can report currently is that I have never experienced a more believable and enjoyable weather solution as I currently have in MSFS, regardless of the obvious limitations.

As Jörg said, from around 2 million users, perhaps some few thousand are interested in those features. I am not one of them, but hope that they open the platform up for third-parties to grab that market. I partially agree with your thoughts, but the decision to initially focus on the base scenery, regional updates and more "arcady" features has proven to be the correct one. Not only has MSFS successfully brought flight-simulation back to mainstream, but now more and more features are being released targeting the more hardcore simmer. These releases are only possible because the sim now has a large enough user-base that makes investing in parallel, more advanced features possible. As for weather, what we currently have is much, much better than FSX/P3D have ever provided, even when live weather was supported. XP12 has just recently provided APIs for external weather providers, and I believe this will also be the case for MSFS down the road.

Perhaps because it is not a huge deal for the majority of the community? Regarding weather: with the latest AAU2 beta, I have finally started to use bigger jets like the 787 regularly on MSFS. What I like to do in my airliner flights is to use a spare monitor to showcase the live cameras from the airports that I am flying to/from, alongside live ATC and live AI traffic. This was already the case before, but is clear to me that default weather is very, very good and the WX representation of the sim is generally spot on when compared to what I can see on the webcams. The built-in WX radar is also working and currently meets my needs as a virtual pilot. Regarding cameras: Having TrackIR support built-in and being able to map multiple cameras to numerical keys and to effortlesly move inside the plane using WASD keys, I really don't see myself purchasing something like Chaseplane. External tools like FSRealistic are already able to enhance camera effects and allow me to walk around the aircraft. The only thing I miss here is a fly-by functionality, similar to what I have in XP12 and DCS. This is listed a to-be-developed functionality, as far as I am aware. Personally, I hope that they make the platform more open, but what we currently have in the base sim is just great.
