Dreaming here, but would be cool if MSFS would vastly improve the water physics and much improved ship controls and related instruments, then we would have an awesome ship simulator within worldwide.

How is the soundset? Do they sound like glorified vacuum cleaners, or do you get that nice bassy rumble? It’s hard to tell from YouTube videos.
I find it to be pretty adequate, and better than PMDGs 777 low rumble start or lack thereof. I guess everyone's feeling will be dependent on their speakers and sound chip and if they can capture very low frequency. A subwoofer would be great.
Have done a couple flights now. The first had some errors, all due to user error. Heck its been over 10 years since we flew the last one in FSX. Have to relearn alot but its a heck of a lot of fun to fly , and be a little more busy than the full modern automatics of today. Been watching the "father time" videos who does a really great thorough job of going thru the systems. TFDI did a fantastic job modelling quirky stuff to the MD11s personality. Really looking forward to more flights. Recommended

Interesting preview video. From QA tester and former MD11 pilot. Goes in-depth into systems

Very excited for this. Seems TFDI did a great job all around. B Avgeeks video really showcased the aged worn out well used textures look and the high fidelity of all its quirks, and big mix of airbus and boeing logic makes it so unique but challenging too because of its fighter jet like handling and approach speeds around 160kts haha. Everybody keep on your toes with this one. Really brings you back to the FSX PMDG MD-11 days.

It is this very issue that blackbox711 found with a nose down pitch despite a FBW speed hold that makes this hobby so awesome. A highly sophisticated aircraft, but a skilled type rated pilot troubleshoots the problem and was very intent and thorough to find it. I watched the stream. Fascinating. You can’t have high fidelity systems on an add on unless they all work together, that is developers, and those that fly them professionally in their careers. Now I see it’s being fixed already. Really incredible stuff!

Really looking forward to this. Miss the PMDG MD11 days. An aircraft that was a real mix of Boeing and Airbus logic, with balanced automation but still requires a decent amount of manual input and monitoring. Think TFDI are committed to it being an outstanding release. Bring on the cargo flights.

I really believe one day it will be possible to use the flight simulator world at all levels. A really good ship simulator for the seas and lakes, a train simulator for the world rail network, and truck simulators/ car driving the roads. Of course unlikely this will all happen at the same time as flight simulation, but could enter each mode separately but within the global data world recreated. Would be an amazing accomplishment. Todays open world games cant even come close in size to what MSFS has for earth in a realistic way.
Maybe MSFS/TS/SS/VS 2034?

Its a real shame that MSFS is so restrictive to 3rd party especially the lack of fundamental wx radar in aircraft. I get the licensing and data restriction, but you would think there would be a solution that is amicable for both sides. Its a no go if your radar is not active. I would love to support AS but presets dont particularly interest me too much and like the live weather aspect. Think its best to wait to see what MSFS2024 brings.

Wow impressive level of detail for systems fidelity. Love it. Really great work. Indeed the sounds were super sweet! Can't wait to fly this one too.

I just ran the MS store, and it updated some xbox stuff, then clicked on profile to make sure all is good. Restarted PC, and no more "insert disc" error.

In in on day one just like every other release since 1985. Although at that time I had to physically go to the store and wait in line.
For the sake of reality, I am sure there will be teething problems, but I hope that devs have a long enough time before final release that they can have most of their products almost ready within weeks or a month or two of release. A reason this version was done, is the rewrite for things that are not really feasible right now. I expect it to be a pretty significant step forward.
On the dream side of things, I would like to see a big surprise of a whole new simulation within the 'Flight simulation'' world. Like the ocean and lakes having a complex hydro dynamics for a realistic ship simulation. Ships are there now, but there really isnt a proper interaction with ships and boats. Of course this would have to run separate in the sim, and 'turn off' the flight sim world otherwise we might end up with 2 FPS. It would also mean another dedicated team, and thats just a whole lot more resources needed. Maybe flight sim 2032 would be more realistic. Then we will have both flight sim world, ship sim world and train sim world all in one interacting with each other lol.

That’s was one impressive showcase video. More importantly, I’m astounded at the detail and quality. Lots of payware doesn’t even match this. This deserves a standing ovation for the work and dedication on this project. Can’t wait to fly it,! Thank you FBW team for setting such a high standard and great example of what can be done.

Subscription model is for the birds. What a shame. Its a very nice simulation despite lacking harbor scenery.
On the other hand , Navismaster is a modern version of Virtual Sailor NG. Still early Alpha, but the water and lighting looks pretty darn good for an Alpha. There is a free download and a Patreon version.

Looking really nice for long haul. Pleased the 77W is first too this time as well as gone are the rip off prices from P3D. More reasonable. Hoping for awesome startup sounds. Here the 77W starting up here all the time living near the airport.

Very fair and great value now in a much simpler plan. Day one purchase for me.

Definitely don’t want Google doing a flight sim. I can just see it now… a 5 sec ad pops up for ATC transmission, and 30 sec ad pop up for every takeoff and landing. YouTube is out of control with ads now.

This thread amongst many others elsewhere is simply mind boggling. Not difficult to understand the very flexible range of options. Why there is this ruckus, is just the negativity that permeates everywhere and radiates to the next person. Years ago we all begged for better ATC, and complained the voices were extremely robotic. Now the ATC looks very promising and plausibly realistic, and you have choices for voice models. 1 of which is free. What is the problem? On top of that, control of AI traffic, with real-time voices. All sounds great to me. And no subscription.

This looks awesome. Great video with no lipstick, just straight up transparency and big effort going into accuracy. Love the commitment to high fidelity here. Can't wait to fly this bird.

Thumbs up from me too. Been trying out last few days. After experiencing this with overall fluidity, cant go back, and will have to tolerate the side effects of the camera panning jitter. The issue is the freesync monitor lowest refresh is 48hz to use freesync, although rarely got that much before in fps to match, but this mod helps keep that with enough overhead to be a whole lot more smoother.
This is all off my now outdated 2080TI. Gave it a little more life, until stupid Nvidia stops being so greedy with outrageous pricing. Clearly not an issue for many , since the Navigraph survey has the 4090 as the top card in use by a long shot. Wow. @ nearly $2000/card.

Wow great news to have much higher fidelity. I think alot of developers can reflect on the sampling from the Navigraph survey, with many seeking high level systems simulation, accuracy and quality. Its been a long long time since we had a very high level fidelity B757 in the simulation atmosphere in many years.

Just to put this out there, forget where I read it, or heard it, but I dont think it necessarily works well just by turning it on. The whole point of AI deep learning, is the learning part. Perhaps this is a scenario where it must learn and recalibrate the more times its used. Turning it on and saying it doesnt work well doesnt teach it anything. Just a thought.

You clearly tolerate a much higher risk to unfinished software than I do and that’s fine, it’s a free market after all.
However, the thing is, fans of the MD-11 and/or TFDi who bought this at such an early stage are likely to defend no matter what. Therefore, they're much less likely to show objectivity.
My view is that as soon as a product is available to paying users, it is open to critique.I don’t like the trend of developers like FSS and TFDi offering this advance purchase model for products that are missing key elements. Quality developers would call this unready for release.
You could argue TFDi has a respectable track record, but then, so did Captain Sim at one time. Developers in a team come and go, especially those contracted in.Actually I dont own it, but been following development from the start, developer twitch streams, and all news regarding it. I do not have a high tolerance for complete garbage or even half baked aircraft. The other MD-11 out there is a piece of trash. TFDI are certainly going to work out whats not working right and its clear to me they are highly committed. Its these kind of super critique attitudes for developers that put a real concerted effort, that end up being a drag, depressing, certainly not encouraging for them. Its one thing to be critical, its another to provide constructive criticism that motivates them to get it working right.so if you have a group of early access users, then for sure you find a whole lot more bugs a whole lot more than a small dedicated beta team of 10 or 20. Anyone who figures that all these things can be fixed in a matter of weeks may need an adjustment in their thinking. We are here as a community to hopefully upbuild for great promising projects. Without it, we wouldnt have much properly done high fidelity aircraft.

I have no doubt this will be a very polished aircraft in due time. The last few pages on this thread have lost the fact that this is an early beta and TFDI have made that very clear when collectors edition was sold and eventually now released. To have so many criticisms right now, is not fair to developers who are putting in a real concerted effort to make this a really systems heavy aircraft. Have to defend my favorite aircraft of all time. When its released and after a few updates, then its fair to criticize.

I don't know if there's an NDA of sorts but I would love to see some thoughts on the aircraft as it currently is.
"Captain_Mac" on youtube was given exclusive access prior to collectors being officially released. He goes through some of the systems modeled like LSAS and fire protection.
Looking like an awesome plane to fly. My favorite without a doubt. Look forward to it.

Beyond ATC release Traffic alpha for Supporters
in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

That latest video is rather impressive. Of course there is some weird stuff and errors happening, but this is a massive step forward to be controlling AI traffic in this manner with separation and alot of varied language that doesnt sound scripted at all. We really havnt seen AI traffic be controlled in such a manner before in the flight sim world.
