I remember my move from fs2004 to FSX,it was impressive at first sight But the P3D visuals is bigger than the gap from f2004 to fsx. After on and off setup of my pc build and p3d setup since January , finally completed OC etc to make a flight @4.84GHz AND I MUST SAY VERY IMPRESSIVE. Infact lets exercise caution here, when I say P3D visuals very impressive I mean with ASN ,Fsglobal Ultimate, Rex4+soft clouds + FTX global and the combination with powerfull pc is amazing. But still a very tough getting things going, so many incompatible or supposedly compatible addons, can make maintaining P3d a nightmare compared to FSX. Don't P3d without a backup system that allows incremental backup so that you can backup TonsOfGigs in flash Shokcing to find I had to correct things from backup, even during the process of p3d , addons and OC setup. Great visuals, but its a crime to maintain without powerfull backup. The only other thing I enjoy more than tweaking now is backing up, then when I get bored I fly.

Hi Long time simmer here , new to P3d Unless am missing something, The default Mooney Acclaim, when set to GPS-NAV mode, follows a course that is similar to back course during localiser capture. Effectively its traveling in straight opposite direction to GPS NAV . Please help, just stabilised OC to make first flight, and NOW THIS

thank you very much , just installed simlauncherx hoping that will solve the problem Also just figured out been missing this cause I was not installing my config where p3d wanted it, so it now shows my config on startup screen. Still not as neat as FSX gui by miles. Will check simstarter cheers

Hi sorry if this sound like a silly question, but how do I load saved graphic settings in P3D in FSX this was no brainer, but in p3d am clueless cheers

Are you using an overclock How many Hard drives on your PC Have you installed any major scenery recently What happens when you turn sliders to minimum

Sorry did not mention am using Gigabyte Gaming Z97 for 4790K Sorry After 2 weeks of hell currently running acronis 2015 backup, that will take a few hours. So cant check bios right now, but will do get back. There usually 2 voltages PCH core and PCH IO, and I upped both around 8-15% cant remember which, one was 1.09 and I changed to 1.18 other was 1.50 and I changed to 1.54 Soon as I did this, you could tell from the way, windows login slammed to desktop instantly that maybe my gpu crash problem was over. I use P3d traffic and saved flights to test my OC, much safer @ high OC, and to the point. I MUST MENTION MY COOLING SSYTEM INCLUDES PORTABLE AC BLOWING INTO PC TOPP FANS , so heat is not really a problem, BUT upping PCH voltages does pack heat when PCI and SATA busy. Please google South bridge north bridge voltage effects on stabilising OC for PC with many drives. Like you said I have seen info to keep these volts lower for higer OC, that in part why did not bother with for my new setup. But after 3 weeks of tooth and nail it was the final thing that fixed it for me. Running my PC @ 3Ghz ANy of my GPU is rock solid with PCh at default settings Soon as I upp cpu to 4.79Ghz GPU struggles, even crashes without running p3d, just due to windows desktop alone. Soon as I upped PCH voltages, I can now start thinking flight planes and stuff like that. But I must say P3D FSGlobal Ultimate, Orbx Global, Re4 +Soft Clouds + ASN is just THE WOW. Its my first time seeing it till I shut sim down myself , as opposed to short glimpses between blue screens. I suppose for those with just 1 or 2 hard drives, keeping PCH voltage low will offer more juice to other components like cpu/ram, but according to my research many drives, high PCI traffic @ very high cpu would need GOOD PCH voltage juice to move all that P3D gigatons per second of texture data around A good tip, the view of disk activity you get in win7 resource monitor wants to look like NARROW mountains with sharp tipps as opposed table mountains with flat tops, That is an indication that your PC is struggling to move data around fast enough, AND FROM THERE ITS UNPREDICTABLE WHAT CRASHE FIRST.

After installing P3D using GTX Titan 4790k @ 4.79Ghz 3xSSD stripe raid c drive 2x ssd stripe raid for p3d/eliteD 1 x ssd for vav programs/ asn ect 1x ssd for add-on scenery Basically Been having major issues with GTX Titan keeping up with my 4.79Ghz OC for about 2 weeks now. Finally very reluctantly coughed out for TitanX in the hope that Better GPU will fix the problem TitanX was more stable using EVGA perscion as opposed to AsusGpuTweak with old Titan, TitanX was not stable with Asus GPU Tweak. But TitanX was still crashing after about 30 mins watching traffic in sim. Since I always have up to 5/6/7/8 drives in my setup, I remembered a tip I always used read from an OC thread. IF USING MANY HARD DRIVES, UP YOUR PCH CORE AND IO VOLTAGE. Once I did this, all my GPU crashing @4.79Ghz problem disappeared like smoke. Since its second time this happening to me on another machine with many drives, thought I should let you ambitious new P3D adventures know your OC can be stabilised by upping the voltage to the PCH since its gots to move gigs of P3D data about. There is no point having high OC clock, if the IO channels are struggling to keep up.

All this terrorist talk is making loose interest in flight sim, ARE THER ANY TERROSIT SIMULATORS OUT THERE, SEEMS LIEK THATS THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN RIGHT NOW. What I would really like is to push a button on any addon "USE SIM DATA". If this were really a commercial situation as opposed to sim, It would be expected that all products will not only have SIM nav data option, BUT IT WOULD BE THE DEFUALT SETTING. Thanks for the aero sos website update , I already downloaded all the stuff I needed from them weeks ago. but I never installed the p3d nav updates, cause then you run into problems like airport layout not matching nav data for airport etc. IF I HAVE TO COMPROMISE HOW ABOUT THIS SOLUTION 1. UPDATE NAV DATA FOR P3D TO LATEST, AND FROM THERE ALWAYS DOWNLOAD OR BUY UPDATED AIRPORTS WILL THAT FIX THE PROBLEM. Means I have to run around the web looking for updated airports, or use ADE myself to fix issues, though am ADE super novice

finally got to the bottom of the bottom of this one. It was ASus GPU Tweak tool that runs the gpu oc, basically I set frames in the tool to 45, in p3d getting 15 soon as window undock Problem was, when I disable the fps control I gpu tweak, it remains, unless I use NVidia inspector to remove the 45 fps setting. After having this issue for 2weeks, was not till yesterday I decided to install nvi inspector to check things out. Asus GPU tweak is great for its temperature based oc options, but its a buggy tool in a dangerous. ASUS GPU TWEAK USER MODE FAN CONTROL IS BUGGY AND NEALRY FRIED MY GPU. BASICALLY IF THE TOOL CRASHES , YOUR FAN SETTINGS SEEME TO GO WITH IT, AND NEXT TIME YOU RUN THE GPU IT WILL KEEP FAN AT DEFUALT LOW SPEED TILL YOUR CARD FRIES. the dan asus titan cant keep up with my 4790k 4.79Ghz oc anyway, so going for evga titanx hybrid. the old titan just keeps crashing @cpu 4.79. SO BEWARE WHEN SETTING FPS OUTSIDE P3D OR FSX. NOT ONLY COULD THE RESULT BE CRAP, YOU MAY HAVE TO GO INTO INSPECTOR TO RESET FPS Thanks for the help gents

CS may be crap in many ways, but I love my cabin views and CS 757/767 are my favourites. I bought cs 777 expecting cabin view, only to get this dull idea of loading a/c with cabin view for use during cruise only, wount catch on Beware what you say, many of us here stand to defend CS, if only for their eye candy. So watch out. More cabin views please, PMDG please

YES THAT IS THE ANSWER GTN and other addons LIKE PMDG ETC should have option to use sims nav data, IF FOR NO OTHER REASON THAN YOU FLYING IN SIM AND NOT REAL WORLD. That is the best idea, and almost sounds silly that its not done for the Sim the GTN is expected to work in. All this easily fixed inconsistencies making this hobby require too much skills Buy a plane , buy some tool, THEN YOU GOT TO RUN AROUND LOOKING FOR THE RIGHT NAV DATA, does not make sense. If I recall old pmdg and wilco fmc's used to have option to use fsx nav data, but I have not checked this recently WE NEED TO GET ADDON DEVS TO REDUCE THE COMPLEXITY OF THIS MESS PLEASE ADD OPTION TO USE NAV DATA FROM SIM I WILL BE FLYING IN PLEASE, UNLESS I CHOOSE TO TAKE MY SIM PLANE INTO THE REAL WORLD REAL WORLD NAV DATA NOT MUCH USE TO ME, BUT A LOT CONFUSION.

excellent detailed info, thanks. I like the more reliable option of creating flight plan in GTN. But if I have to do this manually for each waypoint in flight plan, ill have to take my chances with flight plans I do from FsCommander and PFPX for heavies. Lockeed really needs to, after fixing VAS, make P3D nav data updatable to same as add-ons. Already I have always check nav data, afcads etc to ensure I can actually go to a destination ICAO without any NASTY nav data YEH RIGHT SUPRISES !!!! on approach , like vid said, example destination airport not present in sim!!!!(very funny) or ILS at some comedy angle to runway, makes for interesting approach after a 3 hour flight.

Hi Looking to start using charts sid stars, in part cause flight1 gtn looks very user friendly. I would like to keep default p3d nav data if possible, but not sure how my flight plans will be affected, nav tools I use 1. Fscommander 2.GTN I am a bit confused as to how keeping default p3d nav data will affect the use of these 2 tools, considering I plan to use charts thanks for the education in advance, I understand everything about the sim , but never got my head around what happens when using addons with different nav data.

With HT on , I get better stability and OC with HT Get process Laso, move all non essential user stuff to core 0and 1, that is HT_1 get p3d off core0/1, let p3d use all other cores in my case for example ASN is on cores 0/1/2/3 p3d on 2/3/4/5/6//7/8 of i7490k Stuff like word gsx fscommander, flight 1 gtn are all on first 4 cores or less example gtn is on 0/1/2/3 But HT on Is best, using Laso turn off core parking and no need to worry about affinity masks ever, just do in laso DONE Laso if very usefull for taming all non essential tasks, plus no more binary do your head in calculation for affinity mask That said I still use Iobit gamebooster to kill all the usual stuff, then I deal with the rest in laso the sim is too hungary to allow it to use all cores, causes stutters

Thanks for all your help folks . This turned out to be a very revealing issue for, but cause my cooling system is exceptional, I had lots of options when this problem turned out to be heat related. Also had to roll baclk to earlier 2015 NVidia driver to stop grames hafling, then gpu starts crashing, could not keep up with cpu 4.79ghz oc always keep your temps in view in early days of a new setup, nearly fried my titan, as I stepped it up to cpu oc. gpu need higher min voltage, pc case needed some crap removed to improve air flow, and voila my first flight I n p3d 2.5 AND ITHE CLOUDS ARE STUNNING, VIEWS ARE STUNNING , that said using all the usual addons orbyx,rex,asnext, rex soft clouds etc VERY SMOOTH, but then also the c drive is 3 ssd raid, mand p3d drive is a 2 ssd raid. nearly had to go buy titanx with my rent money, but uping the cooling and voltage made my titan save the day in short I think halfing of fps was due to latest nvdia river, currently using I think 352, anyway one from about 3 drivers ago. thkns for the help, goto sleep now, gona be a blue screen dream

correction this has non to do with second screen, just undock any panel, fps halfs for each new undocked window

Thanks gents, I am undocking gauges only no views. Hi MIc Just checked refresh rate on main screen is 60Hz but the smaller gauges screen refresh rate is 30Hz , does not allow setting to 60Hz, but main screen is 60Hz. Do you think varying refresh rate cause this issue. The smaller monitor is new, I think the older one was 60Hz too. The fps drop happens even before I move gauge to second screen. I just have to right click gauge and move mouse over undock, and fps halves. Move to second screen and fps stays same way, halfed. close the gauge, fps stays halfed. I have also checked cfg to ensure both screens have correct resolution, but the fps drop happens soon as I undock on main screen, does not drop further moving to second screen. But fps drops further for each new undocked gauge cheers

Hi JUst completed install of p3dv2.5 no hot fix yet. running i7490@4.75 GTX Titan Soon as panel undocked to second screen FPS is halved, GPU utilisation also drops by about half, AND the fps reduces further for each new panel you undock and move to second screen. Never seen it this bad, I get a couple of fps drop normally when undocking panel to second screen, but not half drop any ideas cheers
