Well, if we're being aggressive, we could also call this a blatant and desperate cash grab from a dev that decided to just quit on progress.  But that's probably just me...

I've never seen anyone so upset about a dev selling software that is clearly labeled for the type of sim it is for. If you aren't interested then just move along. No one is forcing you to buy it.

It's slow, but stylish in my opinion.

That's the first time I've ever heard someone describe the S330/360 as stylish. 😂

I definitely share your sentiment on the more "complex" Carenado aircraft. Even the couple that I have that are equipped with FMCs I usually port in a GTN to bypass it because the FMC is practically unusable.

oooh yes! I remember those days.  I think it was around $9-12 usa.  Over time I ended buying all of them for FSX-FS9.  Still use them.  I think it spoiled many folks waiting to the 24 hour deals at those low low prices.

There was a time when I had the attention span and energy to devote to mastering the latest "study level sim." I'm not sure anymore. Our Ukrainian friends have produced a whole line of jetliners, including classics, and I guess I'm familiar with the quirks and don't necessarily want the level of detail others enjoy. My life is full enough of random failures as it is, thank you. There's a "house design style" which makes it easy to go from one airplane to another in their line. They're developing exclusively for P3D now. And I admire their honey badger attitude 🙂

Nothing wrong with them not making it a highly detailed study level sim, only problem is that they put study level sim prices on aircraft that aren't.

I thought about the 757 when I saw this sale. Then clicked in and laughed to myself. Who are they kidding. Not on the 70 dollar level they think it is. I wonder if they stepped back from their stubbornness and actually thought about things. How many people will buy the 757 or 767 at this level vs how many sales at the lower price it’s worth?  I have the 767 and like it. But it’s not a pmdg, fslabs, maddog, or majestic level product. Which is probably why I don’t fly it as much as I do those.

My thoughts exactly. When I saw the sale I got excited and thought I might finally have a chance to pick up a 757, but found that it is barely on sale. The prices they are asking are at the same level as other developers whose products are way more advanced and polished than Captain Sim's, so why am I going to pay PMDG, FSLabs, etc prices for something that isn't of that caliber. I bought their 767 and it isn't a terrible addon, it just isn't worth the $100 I paid for it and certainly not the $134 they advertise it as (even though they've never actually sold it for $134), especially when you consider that is just for the base package with one variant. If it goes on sale for $50 I'll consider it, but at this point I'm reconsidering if I want to support them at all with the shady marketing tactics they use.

While I agree this a rather disappointing sale, to get the facts straight, their 767 is $40 off, not 5.

Except they have been charging $100 for their 767 this entire time, so $95 is really only a $5 discount. I don't think they've charged the listed full price at any point. Captain Sim almost always has their products listed below the full price to make it look like everything is always on sale and a good deal. Pretty scummy tactic if you ask me.

  7. Is there a way to connect ground power on the PC12? I know there is a switch for it on the overhead panel but I haven't found anything that actually connects the GPU. Not getting my hopes up that Carenado included this but I figure I would ask.

Please continue to pressure LM on this. I know it's easy to say "well they're both pointing at each other," but it's really incredibly simple:

Your faulting modules list a module that we don't compile with. I know computers do weird stuff, but when an issue suddenly appears after a P3D version change, in a dll that we don't reference in our code, the answer is pretty obvious.

Yeah I'll make a post over there but not too sure how much weight it will have. From the reading in the thread I could tell it was some finger pointing going on. I was hoping that since it was kind of an old thread that maybe someone had worked on the issue.

Oh well, I guess it'll just be the FO's PFD for now.

Afraid to say it is a known issue with no prospect of a fix. PMDG and LM appear unable to collaborate to find a solution. LM ignore the issue on their forums and everyone denies their software is at fault. I also experience it with the 747. Workaround is to never use the Capt PFD. Popup the FO PFD. Popping up the CAPT side is almost like a time bomb in that you never know when it's going to blow.

That is unfortunate. I guess I'll just have to do that then.

  10. So I'm getting kind of irritated because I've lost three flights at T/D this weekend due to this fatal error I keep getting. When flying the 777 after a few hours and trying to use one of the displays pop ups my sim will freeze and eventually come up with a fatal error that closes the sim. This issue does not seem to come up earlier in the flights as I am able to use the 2D pop ups (by clicking on the displays) at the beginning of the flights however when I am further into the flight and getting ready to descend I can't click on the displays or I get the fatal error.

Here is the following info I pulled from Event Viewer immediately following the error.

Faulting application name: Prepar3D.exe, version: 3.3.5.17625, time stamp: 0x5758bb31
Faulting module name: MSVCR120.dll, version: 12.0.21005.1, time stamp: 0x524f7ce6

Running P3D v3.3.5, ASN, PMDG T7, Ezdok v2, FSUIPC, FTX Global and NA LC, and that is about it. Other than my FTX Global and landclass I'm not running any other scenery. I've tried a clean install but still get the issue. I tried a little bit of google searching and only found one thread that seemed to somewhat cover my issue but it is a year and a half old so I'm not sure if it has been addressed since. So far I haven't found any other aircraft in my hangar that I can recreate the problem with (including the NGX).

Any help or insight into this issue would be greatly appreciated. I've wasted a total of 23 hours with three flights this weekend and didn't get to complete any of them.

  11. The constellation. Second comes the 717 and only then the 787.

The 747 will have a ridiculous price, so i don't even consider it.

NOTE: Special mention for the FSL A320 for P3D which is not listed, but to me the most important addon to surface soon.

Wait so you think the 747 will have a ridiculous price tag but the FSL A320 which is $100 is fine? The PMDG 777 goes for $90 so I would expect the 747 to be about the same.

  12. I always thought that when people bring up how old FS9 is I thought it is a stupid argument. FSX is a 10 year old sim (or is it 11?) does that mean in 2 years will developers backing away from FSX stuff?

No but I don't know why people keep on insisting developers continue to develop for a sim that is very old especially when its successor has been out for almost 11 years. You can't expect a developer to keep spending resources on developing for a sim that fewer and fewer people are using. I'm sure their sales of FS9 addons have shown them that it isn't worth the time and resources for the return they are getting. They have a business to run too.

  13. I'm new to this forum.  I couldn't find a better place to post my question so I hope I don't offend anyone.

I have a PFC C2 Pro console (Serial Port) with their Instrument console.  Works great with FSX & FAA Registered BATD X-Plane software using FSUIPC v. 4.90 and PFC FSX Driver v. 4.41.

I miss using the original MS Combat FS.  I just installed IL-2 Sturmovik by IC Maddox Games.  Is there anyway to get IL-2 to recognize and use the PFC Serial Port controls?

In the good old days, I could call PFC and chat with them about these kinds of things.  Now they seem more interested in charging us for any contact with them.

I would suggest starting your own thread that way more people are able to see your question.

  14. Samuel,

How is your yoke and throttle quadrant going?  Which throttle quadrant did you get?

    Which sim are you using?

    blaustern

So far so good. I think I have enough hours with it to write a review which I will try to do after I get back from Thanksgiving vacation. I purchased the Throttle Quadrant Console with the 3 lever TPM option to start with however I do plan on purchasing other throttle quadrants in the future. The sim I am running everything with is the latest version of P3Dv3 and I have all my equipment setup via FSUIPC (of course).

  15. ORBX Innsbruck and the Flight 1 GTN 750 are my two must haves, I will try to resist these band wagon hyped up gotta have it threads where everyone gets worked into a lather and have their CC's at the ready.

If you already had two "must have" add-ons on your wishlist then why did you purchase a product that you seemed to not be interested in at all to begin with? Part of being an adult is choosing what to spend your money on, you can buy a camera addon that is in alpha or you can buy a GPS addon that you have been wanting.

  16. That is a Carenado copy protection issue..

Have you eliminated any other Carenado gauges?

Otherwise, just change one gauge at a time.. you'll see where the problem occurs.

Haven't eliminated any other gauges. Guess the [Vcockpit01] was causing the issue, did some playing around and got it working perfect. Thanks for all the help!

It works but it makes my cockpit transparent. I can see the gauges but everything else is transparent.

  18. I have installed it as a test, and it looks and works fine.

To use the knobs, you have pop up the 2d window, however.

I have no issue using the 2D Popup, that is what I normally do anyway. I'll give it a try.

  19. Also, many flights are operated under a variety of different Flight Numbers, one for each of the partners in the group sharing the route. In these groups like "One World" and "Star Alliance" one of the group only actual operates the flight, but it is sold to passengers according to whichever airline they booked with.  And although it usual is, it isn't necessarily the same operator every time, depending on resources, positioning and other assorted factors.

You can see this would be no good for unambiguous identification for ATC purposes.

    Pete

That is also true. I just booked my flight back to the States to visit family over Thanksgiving; I booked through Delta and received Delta flight numbers but I will actually be flying on KLM for both legs of my journey.

  20. I can't explain why PFPX is formatting it like that, I am assuming you are typing in DAL for Delta Airlines.

The difference between the flight number and the callsign is that the flight number is what is used for scheduling and what passengers will know the flight as. The callsign is simply what the cockpit crew identifies as when they are talking to ATC. It doesn't seem to be very common in the U.S. but in Europe (UK especially) the flight number and callsigns are often different. For example, the British Airways flight that operates from London Gatwick (EGKK) to Tampa, FL (KTPA) is BA2167 however the callsign is BAW60T (although it might change). In the US we seem to stick with the same flight number and callsign so you don't see it too often.

  21. Has anyone else had issues with graphics card crashing and recovering then P3D getting a fatal error? I am running the latest version of P3D v3 and for some reason my graphic card crashes approximately 5 minutes after loading the sim then recovers and when it recovers I my screen comes back to P3D blacked out and eventually getting a fatal error. At first I thought it might be an issue with my drivers but this only seems to happen when I am using this aircraft, I can hop in my A2A C182 and fly with no issues.
