  1. A backup is not going to do anyone any good unless they are computer wizards. If Windows crashes after a backup that is likely it. Your chances of restarting Windows is slim. It is better to regularly create a restore point. That's what my registry cleaner does, create a restore point (Advanced System Care9). Then you can insert your Windows DVD and boot up to it and then select repair and then select a restore point (which sometimes requires an expert user too). Once you get your system restored from an earlier time, you should then be able to go into your registry cleaner and reinstall the registry backup but don't think that's really required or advisable. Best regards,
  2. They had less security, especially XP. You should go back to Windows 7 like many have done. Complaining about Windows 10 not working for you won't fix your problem(s). Update your drivers and disable the security (UAC and any anti-virus/malware program) and you should be fine. Sorry your are having problems with screenshots. Here's how to do it - http://www.avsim.com/topic/479802-how-do-i-post-a-screenshot/. I use the free flight sim website Oz to upload and post my images - http://fsfiles.org/flightsimshotsv2/. With the event viewer, if you find the error that cause your crash or freeze, double-click on the error and a new window will pop up. It will have all the details we need. In the lower left hand corner, you should see "Copy". Click on that and the error will be copied to the clipboard and you should be able to come back here and, in a new post, paste the error in your post. This way you won't have to post a picture of your crash. You will want to click on Custom Views and then Administrative Events as this will show you all of the errors that occurred on your computer in one place. Look for your event (usually an Event 1000). Best regards,
  3. This is a Question and Answer forum started by DTG Martin about the new simulator. If you are not asking a question or responding back to DTG Martin (thus hijacking the topic), then it is off topic and you need to discuss this in other topics. Posts that are off topic will be removed. Thanks to everyone for your cooperation! Best regards,
  4. What was the message about SimConnect? Think that's your problem. Best regards,
  5. Errors occur with any software on occasion. I have never had a crash with P3D except an OOM once which are easy to fix. I personally think individuals having issues with P3D have installed incompatible software that was compatible for FSX or FS9, but P3D is a complete different animal. Or, they have installed tweaks. Or, it was not installed properly (outside the default folder, UAC and anti-virus/malware programs disabled, run with Administrative Privileges). If you can install a virgin P3D3.1 w/o any addons or tweaks and still get the errors you are experiencing, then I would agree. Lockheed is at fault. What drives any techie up the wall who develops products like P3D is when some report the Microsoft Visual 2012 error and it's not happening to them or others. Just a few. Strange for sure. These people definitely do not have a virgin install of P3D and have added Addons. That invalidates the fault of Lockheed immediately when that happens. I saw everyone installing incompatible software as soon as P3Dv3.1 was released. They were not going to wait for the developer to make it compatible! We (me, Vic, and Rob) warned everyone of the consequences yet people went ahead anyway. P3Dv3.1 is a new Flight Simulator. It is like going from FS 2000, 2002, 2004 and then to FSX. In two years, Lockheed will probably release another major simulator version. So, remember those days when FSX first came out and you jumped to get addons made for FS2000, 2002, and 2004 installed and started to have problems until the developers updated the products or released new versions. We are going through that process all over again. Best regards,
  6. I'm not sure if I appreciate this comment. Isn't it trolling? Just because you are having issues, Windows 10 is bad. It is working for thousands of our members. Sure, there are some issues whenever you upgrade or install a new OS. There are issues whenever you reinstall your OS. But those all get ironed out as you receive Windows updates and manufacturers of the hardware release upgrades so their hardware will be compatible with the new (or old OS). I know whenever I reinstall Windows 7, it's a scary situation as Windows has to install all of the hardware and software updates. It takes some time for me to get Windows 7 back to the stability I had originally (and I'm very computer literate). When you install or reinstall FSX, that requires some special procedures as Windows built in some major security to help you, the consumer, to avoid the evil people in the world who would want to hack your computer or put some virus or malware into your computer that would shut it down permanently without a complete reformat of your hard drives and installation of the Operating System. They have received complaints with their previous versions of Windows that their OS caused their computer to be hacked or some evil person was able to install a virus or malware. FSX works better outside of the default C:\Program Files (x86) folder as it avoids many of the security that Windows employs to protect you. PMDG has an excellent "How to Install/Uninstall FSX" and there are many experts here who recommend it too. When you install FSX or an FSX addon, there are special precautions you have to take and those you will find in the PMDG Guide and in the AVSIM CTD Guide (see link in my signature). Unfortunately we have to go through these extreme measures because of the evil people in the world who want to hurt us. I hope you are able to find a fix for your problem if it still exists. AVSIM has a Windows 10 forum moderated by Bob Scott who is very computer literate (and one of our great moderators to boot!). We also have many computer experts who are AVSIM members who help out in this forum. Thanks for your kind comments. A new version is near release and I expect to have it completed by the end of this month (I have a lot of other things I have to do like golf and respond to problems new members have registering and moderate). More "how to" pictures (people like pictures to accompany the text) and cleaning up some guidance (mainly for Windows 8 and 10 users). I also want to make it easier for the users to find exactly what they want (like "How to Fix Most Crashes") or, if they get an ntdll.dll error or OOM, they can go directly there to see the suggestions. I have found over the years there is no fix that works for everyone. It all depends on their system setup and how the simulator is setup and I think I have found the tools to investigate the "scene of the crime". Best regards,
  7. Just to be clear, OOM's are not related to your video card and RAM. Just Virtual Address Space which is limited to 4GB's on all 64 bit operating systems. Best regards,
  8. The problem with upgrading to a new OS is that there are several bugs in much of the hardware. Hardware manufacturers haven't updated all of their products to the new OS yet so many will suffer crashes until the products are updated. So, what you are experiencing are timeouts from a USB connection or a throttle or a mouse or any other HID device. It could also be a problem with other hardware connected to your system. A USB port. Your SSD or your HDD. Nothing wrong with FSX as many have successfully upgraded and have no problems. I would recommend running a driver updater. I use driver booster which is freeware but has nags for you to buy the product. It will still scan your system and download and install updated device drivers though. Windows Update mostly updates the OS when bugs are discovered. Your problem is likely your hardware. Best regards,
  9. Split from an old topic. Calling up old topics is called "necroposting" and many of our members are not fond of necroposts... Best regards,
  10. This entry should be rebuilt but I'm surprised a registry cleaner would remove this entry even if the parameter is empty. If the parameter is needed and not seen when you load the Dash 8, I'm sure the software will enter it again. My registry cleaner, Advanced System Care, removes all of the Flexnet Licensing Service and Nalpeiron Licensing Service entries and they are used by FSX/P3D developers. No problems as the entries are rebuilt and I'm deleting them every time I run the registry cleaner. Best regards,
  11. Welcome to Flghtsim? Well, at least you misspelled it. Welcome to AVSIM Paul. Enjoy! Best regards,
  12. So far we have not found the code that Chase's big thumb hit. Chase has been very busy moving to his new house. We hope to have this fixed soon. Thanks for everyone's patience. Best regards,
  13. Split from a 2002 topic.
  14. Hi Lefteris, Apologize for that but isn't the CIVA gauge part of the Concorde? In any case, the individual indicated the crashes were appearing only when he was using the Concorde. In our CTD Forum, it is very difficult for us to troubleshoot a crash when we know it has something to do with a third-party product such as the Concorde. Same goes with any PMDG or FSDT or an Aerosoft product. If the crash is associated with PMDG, we recommend the individual contact PMDG or we'll move it to the appropriate forum (FSX or P3D), depending on the sim in use, in hopes the problem will get more attention and thus a faster resolution. In the CTD Forum, we are mainly dealing with the ntdll.dll, api.dll, stackhashes, ai_player.dll, etc., type crashes. I would have done the same for a PMDG or Aerosoft product if the member indicated it only happens with one of those products and the error indicates too that a module belonging to PMDG or Aerosoft caused the crash. I suppose I could have stated he would get a faster resolution in the P3D Forum and for that I apologize. Not meaning to demean your product or others in any way. Thank you for your many contributions to the community over the years! It is greatly appreciated. You are one of the best! Best regards,
  15. Getting an 404 error. File not found. Best regards,
  16. You should never have your anti-virus program running when installing any addon. You should exclude your antivirus program from scanning your FSX folder. Anti-virus programs give out false positives for some FSX, FSX-SE, and P3D addons. There do not contain viruses. Just go to your antivirus program and exclude the folder then reinstall the product. If you do not exclude your folder from being scanned by the anti-virus program, your anti-virus program will quarantine a required file for Level-D forever. You should also make sure your User Access Controls are disabled as they provide security and sometimes will not allow certain files or registry items to be installed with your product. The Level-D is a really old product and old products usually get hit with false positives. Hope this helps. I moved your post here in the Level-D forum as you posted in the "Help Using the Forums". There might be other posts in this forum that will provide more information about this. Best regards,
  17. I use the Advanced System Care 9 program and run the registry cleaner at least weekly. I'm like Rich above and mostly just use the registry cleaner. I use the "Deep Clean" feature in Advanced System Care but that comes only with the payware version. FYI, Windows will not allow certain system registry entries to be deleted so not even the registry cleaners can remove them. Best regards,
  18. If an issue, I'm sure Google will pull the YouTube video and deny access and therefore the video cannot be viewed any longer. I took a quick look at the video and IMHO not impressed with "Horizon". Maybe it's the bad acting but not impressed. Uh, it could be my age too.... Best regards,
  19. Excellent job Elaine! Before we move it to the Tips and Tricks Forum, I will pin this to make sure everyone is aware of your latest instructions. Rob/Vic - hope this is okay with you all! Best regards,
  20. LOL! The lessons on "Necropost" are taught in the first two weeks at AVSIM Moderator University.... I would not have passed if it had not been for my friend Google allowing me to look over her shoulder. :Just Kidding: It's great to have a website like AVSIM to learn new words! Stay with us... Best regards,
  21. Did you install Navigraph as per the discussions at the following link - http://www.avsim.com/topic/479500-carenado-emb505-phenom-300-hd-series-prepar3d-v3/page-3#entry3359580? The data has to be imported into the G1000 and it does not appear it was in your case. Plus you need to use the Carenado G1000 which is the right screen. That's the screen where you enter all of the data, etc. Best regards,
  22. I am not sure what issues you are talking about. I have v1.3 and you still cannot install the Navigraph addon or the Phenom 300 directly into P3Dv3.1 as it does not recognize it. You still have to point the installer to P3D's directory but the files required for installation will be place on C:\Program Files (x86)\Carenado Installer. From there you simply move the files over to the appropriate directory where P3D is installed. I use the Phenom 300 with most of my flights now and have some problems entering a flight plan but I eventually get mostly there. For instance, entering the takeoff runway or the SID. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Using the Proc key works better. Carenardo has stated they will update all of their products to v2.0 and I hope this comes soon for Navigraph and the Phenom 300. Also hope you saw the excellent review done here at AVSIM! Best regards,
  23. The cause of the crash is the Concorde and you will have to go to the developer of the product and get support or post your problem in the P3D Forum. To help you, I will move this topic over to the P3D Forum as you know exactly what is causing your crashes. Best regards,
  24. Fully understand Stuart. I just happened to read your post and it just smacked me in the face and thought I had to say something. I would love to see the "blurries" completely gone especially since many have high powered computer systems but superfast rendering is not happening. I personally have very clear crisp graphics for P3D w/o tweaks but, occasionally, I get the blurries back. I turned off shadowing and that has been my fix. One has to look at everything being rendered in a scene, shadows, clouds, water, autogen and see which one is creating the most problems for rendering a scene. I appreciate your input in this topic in any case! Best regards,
