  1. Afraid as I got no interest here or on a couple of other sites I am in the process of stripping the parts out and selling them seperately, having kept all of my addons in case I ever get back to it.
  2. Yes I wouldn't have done that at all. Believe me I certainly wouldn't be selling if I had plans to use the software as im already looking at a massive loss compared to what I spent!
  3. Interesting, thanks Mark. On an unrelated topic is anyone interested in an excellent PC with several hundreds of pounds of FSX addons
  4. Ok so looks like I need to wipe the PC clean and then sell as 'new' What a waste :(
  5. Hi all Random question but can you sell a PC with software on it to another person? The time has come sadly where I must say goodbye to my custom made gaming PC and the flight simulation hobby, and it's killing me how much I've spent on software addons etc to just wipe it all off and sell the PC as new. I was hoping I could sell it to a fellow simmer who would be able to use the hundreds of pounds of addon software and aircraft I have. We're talking PMDG NGX and 777, ORBX global, vector, open LC, England, Norway, Australia, as well as many addon airports, FS GLobal mesh...the list goes on. I'm hoping I'm allowed to do that and can therefore attach a price to the PC and a small extra to recoup a small fraction of the money I've spent on the hobby. Obviously a fellow simmer would appreciate the value for money here whereas Joe Bloggs on eBay wouldn't have the slightest interest and I'd just end up reformatting the entire PC. If this in anyway violates any rules then please delete. Just putting some feelers out to see what I am and am not allowed to do re selling on software. Thanks
  6. Thanks Ian! Is that a variable that can be altered to taste or is it just a setting which reduced sensitivity by a fixed amount?
  7. Great news. I've been waiting for their Prague for what seems like an eternity.
  8. Hi Guys I have a Saitek X52 which seems really sensitive. Hand flying is very difficult because even the slightest movement sends the aircraft all over the place! Is there any settings I can change that will make the control feel a bit 'heavier' ? Thanks!

You can use the PILOTS Aerodrome Flattening Tool which will sort out any airports that have their elevations messed up by third party mesh.
  10. Here you go, just for you! Flight TK2411 from Antalya to Istanbul. I stayed quite low in the early phase of the flight to better capture the textures. Last time I flew in Turkey (before OpenLC) I remember being horrified at the miles and miles of repeating textures as far as the eye can see. Totally different now!
  11. Some shots coming up in the next hour or so, watch this space!
  12. Another test of ORBX OpenLC, this one from the beautiful Greek island of Zakynthos Near Svidnik, Slovakia North of Perugia, Italy Girona, Spain
  13. A quick test of ORBX OpenLC after departing Alicante
  14. Another high(ish) altitude comparison for you, in Italy. Certainly makes the landscape less repetitive/monotonous.
  15. Hi Guys I can barely finish (or sometimes even start!) a flight these days without a CTD of some kind This is the latest one, which I've never seen before (this particular faulting module). This happened as I was programming the FMC in the NGX before I'd even left the gate. So frustrating. Anyone got any ideas? 16. Well yes, that's kind of the point I was making. I don't often fly VFR, I like to simulate airline flights but didn't enjoy them previously because of the horrible texture repetition. I'm sure someone will post some GA comparisons soon enough, and will find some great examples. For me, the reason I stopped flying outside of ORBX full regions was the awful repeating textures as far as the eye can see, which is now eliminated. That's a big win for me.
  17. Thanks. On reflection, it's actually not a great choice of flight to demonstrate the difference it makes. The default LC around Budapest isn't too bad anyway. Looking forward to trying some VFR flights as at those low levels it will be really apparent. No, like I said in my post, not great examples of the before and after effect. The default LC is better in some areas than others. In certain areas, the area beneath you at a high altitude is a repeat of about 4 different textures as far as the eye can see, and it looks ridiculous. I will try and find such an area....watch this space!
  18. I've just made a thread with my inital impressions and screenshots (including comparisons) if anyone is interested http://forum.avsim.net/topic/446603-orbx-openlc-initial-thoughts-screenshots-image-heavy/
  19. There's been a lot of hype about ORBX OpenLC and a lot being written before people have even used the product, so I thought I'd do a quick flight, give you my initial impressions and share some screenshots from the journey, including "before and after" style comparisons between the sim WITHOUT Open LC and WITH OpenLC so that you can evaluate the difference. I've been waiting for this product for quite some time. As a long time customer of ORBX, I've become so spoiled by their "full fat" regions, that I got to a point where I found myself unable to fly outside of their coverage area. The main reason for this was how poor the FSX default landclass was. With OpenLC around the corner, I wasn't going to shell out for UTX only to upgrade to OpenLC EU at a later date. As a proud European, and also someone who is tight on time for simming, I love to do short hops in Europe, however due to my ORBX obsession, I've essentially been limited to flights within the UK if I wanted to stay in "ORBX land". I found that even with FTX global and the excellent textures, high altitude flying was not a visually pleasant experience due to the repetitive textures caused by the poor default FSX landclass. Anyway, enough blurb, I'll let the screenshots speak for themselves. The product is excellent, and I've only begun to scratch the surface on this short flight between Budapest in Hungary, and Bergamo in Italy. Unfortunately I only got to 100nm from Bergamo before suffering a CTD (unrelated to OpenLC - a pre-existing problem I've been battling!) so sadly there are no shots from the approach. The shots I chose for comparison with and without probably aren't the best in all honesty, I think the effect would be more "wow" at low levels, especially in more remote areas where the default landclass is dreadful. Either way I'm delighted with what I've seen so far and the value for money for getting a whole continent transformed is excellent!
  20. Downloaded 3 of 4 parts now, waiting on the last one. My first flight will be from Budapest to Bergamo, taking in four countries. I will post some screenshots this evening.
  21. Yes of course, everyones needs and expectations are different. Obviously if you don't do much flying in Europe and the "visuals" of the sim aren't that important to you, it's not the product for you. Personally, I can't think of another product that could so radically change an entire continent at a stroke, let alone one that can be obtained so (relatively) cheaply. Let's not forget we're talking about changing an entire continent for less than the cost of ONE payware airport.
  22. I can't believe how much negativity there is about pricing, and a few totally strange comments. For example, people complaining that they have to buy this after already buying global? They're two totally different products! Global isn't (and never was advertised as) a landclass product, it's a texture product which utilises the standard (read...awful) FSX landclass. OpenLC is (and has always been advertised as) an optional addition to the "layers" to add landclass. The only mistake I feel ORBX have made is that they announced pricing about a year or so ago and then came back with a price that was nearly double. However they are quick to point out that this was a mistake and that they added considerably more to it then they had ever anticipated. Personally for me, it's worth every penny as I do almost all of my flying in Europe and this will enhance it on a scale never seen before. I now can't do any flying outside of an ORBX area (even WITH FTX GLOBAL) as I can't deal with looking down on the horrible repeating patterns of landclass offered by the default FSX. I know it's all personal opinion, but £20 for something that changes an entire continent from a bland, repetitive mess into a hugely diverse and visually stunning environment? An absolute steal. Of course if you want to do the whole planet it's going to be expensive, but who realistically flies around the whole planet? For example I do no flying in Africa, Asia or South America so that's three regions I don't need. I also have ORBX Australia so may not even bother with that, so that's 4. Personally, I'd rather have a product that's £20 x 7 regions and be able to get what I need than (say) £100 for the whole globe when I'll only ever use 20% of it.
