SLI is coming to P3Dv2 in a couple of weeks :)

Gordon, I use a Corsair AX1200i and it has worked superbly. -

Looks like I have to use the GTX970 block for the EVGA's. I want a whole-card solution and not just a GPU block. Thanks for the link. I'll look into it after the new house is bought and we move in... -

Funny. NO. My CPU is water-cooled and OC'd. No issues. I never get above 50-70°C on the GPU's with anything BUT Sniper Elite III. Then my wife will walk by and say something flippant like "Heating the neighborhood again, I see." about 3 minutes after I start Sniper Elite III, my computer sounds like a B737 at just below TOGA power. There's 10 fans in there and the water-cooling system. CPU remains at about 35°C. The method of stacking cards in SLI really kills the airflow and I can't find water blocks for the EVGA GTX760SC cards. They get hot enough that the DVI connectors begin to get loose in their connector insulation. -

Sorry, 130°C. Typo. Stupid finger... -

I've hit as high as 230°C on slot 3. Can't locate waterblocks for the EVGA 760's. They are a non-reference-based board. -

When running SLI for Sniper Elite III, you literally cannot touch the back of my computer or the DVI connectors. And I have LOTS of cooling. Let's see how much heat I get with P3D and that will be a quick indication of how much load the cards are handling. -
Really? Nobody plays this or is enthusiastic enough to post?

Craig Bennet sez "On the original question; the technology looks good but I have no interest whatsoever in military aircraft, or combat. So therefore no interest in this platform in it's current carnation." Why bother posting that? @ jcomm: Agree, and nothing makes you fly better than a spiralschnausen on the spinner... -

Don't get too excited. Quad EVGA GTX760OC's. Not 980's! -

Been on the road, but can't wait to try 2.5 with i7-5930X and quad SLI. Thanks, LM team! -
Is AVSIM undergoing a Denial Of Service attack?!?!?

Chase, logged out, went to another non-AVSIM page, and used your link provided. Worked great. Thanks for the heads up. -
Is AVSIM undergoing a Denial Of Service attack?!?!?
Kattz replied to Sesquashtoo's topic in Hangar Chat
Still have issues going on. When I log in and press the "submit" icon, it does nothing and will eventually time out as "no response from server" or "server too busy. please try again later." However, if I click "submit", wait ten secs or so and then click it again before it times out, then I get an error from AVSIM that "You do not have permission to do that." or "You do not have permission to access that." HOWEVER, I am shown as logged in and the site works normally from there. Neither faster nor slower than usual. This particular problem has been going on all week. My bookmark is http://forum.avsim.net/page/index.html. If I do the same thing by going to Yahoo (I don't use anything from Google, in my business too much!) and looking up AVSIM and I'm not already logged in, it does this for every shortcut but the library. -
DTG: What would you like to see in a new Flight Simulator?
Kattz replied to lorenzog89's topic in Hangar Chat
@ codechris - agree completely. Regarding any sim produced by DTG for flight simulation, I'm adopting a "wait and see the reviews" approach. Won't completely discount it yet. -

P3D. I think it's great that a new sim might be developed. However, if it degenerates into a Train Simulator-like product, then good luck with that. Consider this - there are a LOT of MSTS fans who are still running MSTS, bad as it looks, because the functionality and realism of the old sim (ACES Studio, BTW) far outstrips the new TS2015. I moved over to Run8, which is really cool and has great realism and graphics and is controlled by human dispatchers similar to VATSIM. Regarding TS DLC, what do you get for your money? Donner Pass with missing grades and unrealistic physics for 39.99 or Majestic's Q400 for the same price for plain-vanilla FSX? Which DLC gives you more realism? Currently,TS must rely on a small group of independent users who post physics fixes to the motive power so that you actually have to climb Marias Pass with a full consist in notch 8 instead of the default notch 2 or 3. This has been brought to DTG's attention and junk is still getting pumped out in the DLC's. 'Course, FSX and P3D has it's share of devs who pump out poor content here and there; it happens. The only team that fully vets an addon before they will allow it is DCS. However, DCS is a combat sim, which it does beautifully. If I could use my Milviz aircraft or Iris aircraft in DCS and it had a larger world, I'd probably never return to P3D. Kattz out. -

AVSIM was unreachable for me most of yesterday and is still going on today. Tried to access from several different servers, no joy. Once logged in, AVSIM running VERY SLOOOOOOOOOOOW... -

Hi, King G - Yes, I have one of those, and my sound is driven by a 965W Pioneer Elite receiver. Lot of thump there. You get a great effect flying the Fw190D-9 and the Bf109K-4. Don't have the P-51D yet. I'd like to see an add-on for the Ju87G-2 Kanonenvogel. I think between the A-10C and the Ju87G-2 I couldn't have much more fun unless it was illegal, immoral, or fattening... A port of the Milviz line into DCS would just ROCK - especially the new P-38 or the F-15E Mudhen. -

I love the A-10C sim. Absolutely the most labor-intensive cockpit around, very rewarding. Took about a week with the Thrustmaster Warthog to get everything down pat, and it's all muscle memory now. You want a real challenge? Create a bad wx scenario where you are going to hump it about an hour away to strike a long range guided missile SAM target. Set it up near the mountains and use the topography as your cover. Pop up at maximum range and acquire the target - ~15nm or so. The shooter can take you out at 20nm. Maverick has a range in-game of about 6nm, so you need to get down in the weeds to avoid being taken out. Use the cover, pop up to acquire as needed, and get back in the dirt before you get waxed. Do a final pop up, pickle off the Mav, and drop back down while the target is destroyed. Very satisfying. The guys that do this for a living must need a wheelbarrow to carry their jumblies about. -
DTG: What would you like to see in a new Flight Simulator?
Kattz replied to lorenzog89's topic in Hangar Chat
For me, it's simple - Level up the ATC, WX, flight model, and autogen realism including traffic 64-bit, DX11 with the engine overhead to expand that Take advantage of multicore/multithreading, DDR4, 3- and 4-way SLI DO NOT turn the new sim into a GAME. Perhaps "game" settings and "realistic" settings. I appreciate that DTG is asking for our opinion. However, having used MSTS for years and liking the physics engine that drives it, I recently purchased the DTG Train Simulator. Needless to say, it no longer resides on my computer. Nice graphics, total lack of realism from a physics and real world standpoint. Not bashing, just asking ahead of time, because if DTG makes a sim that doesn't at least equal a semi-"loaded" FSX install (REX, RC, AW, PMDG or Majestic, ORBX, etc running), your only market will be the casual or game simmer. Thanks for asking for our input. Kev -
No 64-bit P3D coming according to Orbxs' John Venema
Kattz replied to Gordon Hutchison's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
From a purely business aspect, if LM were to move to a 64-bit platform and John was in the know about it, perhaps it makes good business sense to say "no 64-bit coming" to keep people purchasing his current software. Yes, he can be a bit rough around the edges, but for general and specific scenery packages, ORBX is basically the cat's meow in that area. -

In the interest of full disclosure, I've never maxed out my LOD. Just next to last setting. Nice to know I'm not the only one. @ Rob, I admire you for your... um, subtlety... Woot! Woot! Can I drive your car in the picture? Pleeeeasse? On a non-P3D note, according to experts, DCS does not use SLI. However, when I start DCS, all four GTX760SC cards ramp up the fans and the back of my case gets so hot I can't touch it. Think I can expect that once P3D supports SLI? In the interest of all honesty, I haven't upgraded or installed either FSX or P3D into the new rig. So right now I'm not running either one, just DCS and IL2 FB. We're building a new house and I'm waiting until I get the new den installed downstairs and sorted. Probably Dec '15 timing. -

Ian, I've ran that identical airport addon and landed at FlyTampa's Dubai Rebooted and no issues. I admit I was running vanilla ORBX and not the England scenery. The biggest issue where my VAS has squeaked into the 3.85-3.9 range is FSDT JFK with the traffic at 50%. You're using the same traffic I am.
