  1. Apologies, my misunderstanding. I see now you were quoting a review from the web. As you can see, I disagree with that person's thought process. Sorry about that.
  2. <ECM MODE to ACTIVE> You can read some of my other posts and see that I've said the same thing consistently since I've came here: WHAT are you doing to get OOM's? I don't care, P3D or FSX. Never have had one. EVER. PMDG products or Majestic, full-on ORBX mesh, LC, Vector, REX, add-on airports, air traffic at 25-50%, cars and ships at 5%, running TrackIR, OPUS, FSUIPC, ASN, and a USB FMC and MCP/EFIS. Aivlasoft EFB running. ATC running. And I can leave the sim and play another game at the same time AND never go over 3.8Gb on my VAS. This discussion keeps going back to VAS and OOM's. Either I'm extremely lucky, or I'm housekeeping my background processes and moving data through the CPU fast enough to avoid these issues. Not ranting, trolling, or flaming, I have just absolutely never understood the OOM thing. Really. Never seen it. Not once. We now return you to your scheduled broadcast. <ECM MODE to SILENT>
  3. Jfri, I'm sorry that you're not satisfied. Frankly, the modification to the stick spring is a completely unessential one and has been overhyped via forums and YouTube. I can tell you from experience that after about 100-200 hours the stick parts "marry" and everything is much smoother and easier to use. This includes the grease. For the people out there posting about this, they've never experienced the debacle that was the Cougar. In real life, the stick in the F-4, F-15, and A-10 all have hydraulic dampers on them. Once you start the engines, the stick is about as stiff as the Hog. Speaking directly from personal experience. And as KG said above, the spring is what makes the stick as accurate as it is. My advice if you want; put it back together the way it was, fly with it for about 100 hours, and then make a determination. My opinion is that there was very little time from your postings that you asked about the stick, got the stick, and modified the stick. That was really super quick to make a judgement that fast. I have never understood how one can damage the o-ring. Kattz
  4. I could see what you mean. On the other hand, I worked on and flew in F-16's for 15 years, so the sidestick feels more natural to me.
  5. Not at all. I fly DCS for 3-4 hours at a stretch without issues. The Hog sits to the immediate right of my keyboard and the throttle sits to the immediate left. I don't use it in the center of the desk. If I did, it would be very uncomfortable after a while. To be completely honest, when we move to the new house in the fall, I will be using it centered from the floor in my Obutto sim chair and using the "bent stick mod" for better realism in the A-10C and F-15E. But as it is, it works fine for me.
  6. This just needs to be looked at like this, IMHO. John V has a company that has been making great stuff. But his statement is precipitous to say the least. I think of this like I think of PMDG; we'll know from the developer when they decide to tell us. And since LM hasn't told us anything to the contrary, I'll continue to believe that 64-bit P3D is still in the cards until told otherwise by P3D. We all have read that some out there think Captain Sim products are not very good. Well, when put up against PMDG, maybe not. But their L1011 is pretty darn good, and there's a huge welcome banner over at P3D for CS that's just as large as ORBX, so how much weight does JV carry anyway when put into that perspective?
  7. Warthog. Bulletproof, and really stands out regarding precision and keymap ability. I fly everything with it, and it excels at DCS and FSX/P3D, especially when flying something with twin engines. I fly my 777, 737 with it, my DCS A-10C, and in FSX/P3D, my IRIS Mudhen F-15E and A-10A. It sits on my desktop, and I've never had ONE mechanical or electrical issue with it. I don't even use my Saitek Pro yoke any longer. My $0.02 worth.
  8. Keven, Thanks for the response. I circumvented your issue and just purchased from Simmarket. Best, Kevin
  9. Be nice to own if the webpage actually would work...
  10. Every time I click on "purchase" or "create and account", I get an error window of some type "webpage" and a triangle exclamation point but I can't read what the error is. Win 7, IE10. Thanks, Kevin
  11. People, I apologize if the post title is a little harsh. However, being spoiled by Majestic, PMDG, and of course DCS, is there anyone out there that knows of a solid, fully functional F-16A or F-16C? It is not the Aerosoft one, nor is it IRIS's family truckster either. BMS Falcon for Falcon 4.0 is the only sim F-16 that was fully functional. However, it is really dated and my rig makes a mess of the old graphics. It is no longer playable for me. Having spent a significant amount of my life maintaining these birds and and having hours in them and in the simulator, I'd really like to see someone do this bird. From a RW standpoint, it has been the backbone of the USAF dogfighter, general purpose, and air-to-mud forces since the late '70's, and the principle combat aircraft for many air forces around the world. They will probably still be flying when the F-35 is just a bad dream. Possibly, the Viper is and remains the most cost/hr effective weapons platform out there, and it has been an unflinchingly solid weapons system. Yeah, the DCS A-10C is fabulous, if one wants to thrash targets in the Ukraine. It is an excellent study sim. So is the Superbug for FSX/P3D. Anybody know of anything coming out? Dyin' for a real study-sim Viper here... Kattz out.
  12. Although I'm not an XP user, I think it's great that the X-Plane group will get their own PMDG product, get it first rather than a hand-me-down, and get such a priceless beauty of an aircraft as well, all wrapped up in one beautiful package. Captain Randazzo, that bird is truly sierra hotel! Kattz out.
  13. @ Ohsirus - I have their EFIS, MCP, and 737 CDU Pro. It makes flying so much better IMO! Kev
  14. Greg, In my latest board, which is a Haswell-E Rampage V Extreme, I have the same issue. If I reboot, it's gone. However, if OC failed and I reboot, <sometimes> the board reboots at the stock clock, and sometimes it doesn't. I must admit, my Sandy Bridge board with the Ivy Bridge BIOS was the MOST STABLE board I have ever owned. This new Haswell-E board has a lot of issues, and OMG, the price of the DDR4 RAM... Slightly OT, but I realize that some on here cringe when flight simulation and gamer are used in the same sentence. However, I really enjoy both worlds. And they seem to coexist on the same SSD without angst between them. So I will toss this out there - this system runs Shadow of Mordor and Sniper Elite III at MAX settings at 5960 X 1080 at over 100 fps. Gotta love this kinda horsepower...
  15. I'm not at my home computer, I've been travelling on the road for quite a while. However, when running the iFly 737NG into Fly Tampa Dubai scenery, I'm still running +70fps at a minimum. However, my rig is pretty high-end, and it cost me a LOT of $ to build it. You can see my system in my profile. Even with all that horsepower, I run my traffic at 50%, ground traffic at 10%, and ship/boat at 0%. My sliders are set to the next-to-last stop to the right, so not maxed out. Two 29" monitors in SLI configuration, plus a 19" running my EFB and an 8" touch screen running my CDU until FDS updates their firmware for PMDG and P3D. Good luck!
  16. Corsair AX1200i. I have an overclocked Haswell-E i7-5930K with four EVGA GTX760OC's, and no issues. Rock solid. Kevin
  17. Thanks, Stevan, that helps A LOT! Kudos! Kev
  18. I apologize for asking this, and I will don my asbestos-lined underwear in case of flames - I did in fact use the search function... So, my understanding is that the new FSX is "like buttah". Definitely interested, suffering from NGX withdrawal. But, PMDG doesn't work with this version of FSX? Is there, like, a master listing that says what runs on this and what is not compatible? That is all... Love DCS but so very tired of flying around in a very small patch of eastern Europe. Give me Nellis AFB and White Sands Test Range (and Tonopah, YES!), and I will be happy again. Cheers! Kev
  19. Captain Rob - I've seen this before when playing other games - sorry, I realize one does not "play" a PMDG sim, but you know what I mean. One of the issues I've seen has to do with the on-board NVidia or Intel video processors. If your board has one, ensure that it is disabled in the BIOS if using discrete video cards. Example: My ASUS ROG Maximus IV Extreme-z has an Intel HD4000 on-board graphics processor - it doesn't show up in the system specs. I don't use it; it can be used by the system as "helper processing" even when running triple SLI like I do, but often can cause a conflict. It will show up in your device manager along with your discrete card(s). Disable it in the BIOS if you have it. Also, P3D is now optimized for SLI use as I understand it. Are you using this? If not, try it; if so, take a card out and go back to a single card. If you wouldn't mind, please send me a PM with your system specs, who made what, monitor size, resolution you're using, any firmware info, any external devices, any other info including a detailed description of how, when , and what, etc. and I will do my best to help you. I've been building fast computers since 1998 and seen a lot of things. I'll help you if I can. I'm not interested in any PMDG-related info on your system and will sign an NDA if you need it. Best, Kevin
  20. I know I'll be branded as a conspiracy theorist, but something should have been found from ML370 by now... Bodies last 7-12 days on open sea bottom before they are broken down to the point of complete, well, destruction by sea life. But something man-made should've been found by now. Even the Air France aircraft that took two years to find left some debris.
  21. The wx in that radar screenie looked really rough. Prayers for the families.
  22. ALL RIGHT!!! I'll have the GBU-12's all around, then... Cheers! Mmmm... Laser-guided precision attack munition... I think I need a towel...
  23. Answers: yes, two, and woodpigeons can only pigeonhole wood. YAY! What do I win? I, umm, do win SOMETHING, right?
