  1. I'm not the developer, so I have no skin in the game really. Ultimately its your opinion. It is what it is. I'm only trying to probe in to understand why you think halting any development on another airliner is worth it over fixing sporadic bank variations that happens that I would venture a guess that most either don't notice or are bothered by it. That sided with the fact that PMDG is actively working on fixing it. Either way, you made your position clear in how you view me and the conversation. Fair enough. No hard feelings. We will part ways here.
  2. Every fs addon has something obviously wrong. Are you saying that a company should not release anything new until everything is corrected? If it was an issue that basically made the plane unflyable, then I get it. The issue you're bringing up isn't close to that. What I am asking is if you feel your issue of it not tracking a turn 100% correctly is enough to justify halting development of a release of a high level long haul aircraft that many consider the sim sorely needs? On top of that, it is stated that PMDG is actively working on the upgraded LNAV for both the 777 and the 737. With that in mind, you still want them to halt the development and release of the 777 for this?
  3. Pretty nice update, imo. Happy that the efb is coming to the xbox crowd. Glad they went into detail on the issues they are experiencing so people are aware. Yea a little wordy. Probably didn't need to tell us about the accident to make it shorter, but glad to hear his arm wasn't broken. The picture looked better to me than the preview video. It's nice that they seemed to be adding tire wear logic in the sim though, so I don't mind him talking about the gear like that. Out of curiosity, what's your standard for completion? While nobody is ignoring the fact that there are issues like the ones you stated, I would say that the vast majority would not say that the plane is unflyable. It does the vast majority of things well. Sure there are some quirks that need to be improved, like the issue you're mentioning, but if you were to ask people whether they would rather wait for every single issue gets hammered out before they see a 777, I would venture to guess that most people will say that they'd want the 777. It's not like he's completely abandoning it. He's saying that once it's released he's going to start implementing many of those upgrades to the 737. Also, not sure why you cut off the quote before, "We also have SU15 to pay attention to- so changes will be coming for the 737 no matter what. It is just a matter of stacking resources on the 777 to get that one into release right now." Hopefully their improved LNAV that they are trying to put into the initial release of the 777 will fix the issue you're seeing and they will move that over into the 737 in good time.
  4. If I were to venture a guess, Bob's talking about Torsen's comment. Hopefully PMDG will be able to release their updated LNAV with the 777 as intended.
  5. Might have been directed towards me. No, I do not have that installed.
  6. Can you provide a screenshot of it so I know exactly what you are referring to? I took a quick snapshot of london (default) from my sim and this is what it looks like for me.
  7. Just want to probe a bit more. You're saying that you don't like programs that punish you for using time acceleration or pausing because that's what the benefit of a sim is vs a real plane. I can see why you approach it that way since you are a real life pilot. However, I would imagine that the majority, perhaps the vast majority, of simmers are not and maybe they are trying to approach it from the opposite angle in trying to get more realistic challenges to their flight simming. You can of course argue the extent to how realistic the program is, but ultimately its goal is to provide more realism to the simming experience. Note, I'm not against the idea of taking away the pause and time accel penalties. I'm indifferent to it. Don't very much care if I ended up getting penalized for having to pause a flight for whatever reason.
  8. It may also have to depend on the coding that's beneath it. I would think that you can copy features from other programs so long as you code it yourself, but if they basically took code from APL and reskinned it, then that's obviously a problem and the program rightfully should be taken down.
  9. Probably more like, "better to have things not simulated versus only partially simulated." Aamir stated that it's currently not possible, at least for them, to implement MSFS's weather radar as that would cause a lot of issues (performance, etc). My guess is it's due to the fact that their displays are processed differently than ones from PMDG, Flythemaddogx, etc.
  10. Ah fair enough! Thought he was responding to me. Sorry about that.
  11. Good catch. I honestly didn't even catch that there is a graph, but as long as the sim reflects it, it's not a big deal to me. Though to be honest, I only fly with real time weather 99.9% of the time. Sporadically, I use custom weather to test out things. You can report that bug via zendesk, instead of here, for the team to look over: https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
  12. I can agree that it isn't enough of a preview for you and others like maxis. Edit: BTW there were 4, but two of them were of the same part of the plane but at different angles to showcase different things.
  13. Technically they did post a lengthy update on October 31st featuring... screenshots of the plane and the progress they are making on the visual aspects of the plane. All of which looks fantastic, I might add. Teasing? Sure. Building anticipation? Absolutely. However, it's welcome so that we can get a look into their progress and see how much effort they are putting in.
  14. I'm confused, were those pictures not considered previews? I don't recall PMDG historically giving release dates, until maybe more recently, but we all saw that hurt them when it came to the efb, so I wouldn't be surprised if they don't do that again, just like Fenix. In terms of substance, yea that's subjective, many like to know the level of detail they are aiming for when it comes to the external model. Many simmers, especially since MSFS came out, have higher expectations in terms of details in appearance.
  15. I’m sure in many cases (not saying in this particular case) people just want to be first to post about it.
  16. You know what. Ignore that, It was the release notes for another update.
  17. I had a quick glance at the release notes, and I believe it did mention that the update does address crashes that have been happening.
  18. Ah I forgot I had the DC-6. I just purchased it with really no intention of flying it much. Other than the initial traffic patterns that I flew after initial installation, I admittedly never touched it after that.
  19. The way I see it, if it does not affect other aircraft (default but even moreso with other addon devs) then yes it should be reported to the addon developer. Whether it is fundamentally a sim issue or not, in my mind it is at that point the addon developer's responsibility to contact Asobo to see if they can figure it out in their particular case. If Asobo is unwilling to change, then the addon developer can address that to the public if they wish to pressure asobo further.
  20. I see. Sounds like the issue is that the autothrottle is providing max thrust. Is it a temporary thing (meaning it lowers the thrust back down) or does it apply max thrust and maintains it?
  21. Yea that's fair. Thankfully, pmdg has made it clear that they are not just resting on what they have now and they will continue to add further functionality to it. Actually in digging into the files, I do see a YouTube icon and Adobe acrobat icon so I am curious as to what they have planned for that.
  22. Just as a general note, I hope we can all accept that different people have different preferences for things and not feel the need to belittle others whose preferences differ I think for me there are other things that go into it. Clicks take a short amount of time. Again part of it has to do with the fact that we may be more used to navigating those menus. With the tablet, there are other things other than clicks that can add time. For example when you open an app or a tab there are some transition times that go into it. At one point, one had a lock screen that you had to enter in a 4 digit password or press a key in order to access the actual efb (I hear they will eventually allow you to disable that). Also for some people, having more things like pictures and diagrams add more clutter that can be distracting and make it more involved to navigate around. Some like to type in numbers rather than move sliders, etc. Each person is different of course. I think another reason why I don't really have a problem with ground handling is that I use GSX which handles a lot of those things automatically. GSX now also automatically enters in the simbrief zero fuel weight and fuel as well, so that may help.
