I know Emi sort of had a bit of a pop about it not being realistic in one of his videos, but then again doing the same actions from within the FMC is just as unrealistic.

I think this statement was made in response to a certain mindset that it being in the fmc instead of the efb is something that is inherently wrong. It's not. It's mainly comes down to a preference in workflows. I actually find it easier/quicker to go through the fmc for some things versus navigating the GUI of a tablet. This could be because I am used to it. One thing that I think the efb would be better for me is to move all the various equipment options to the efb, though.

In terms of the max, they did confirm it, but they better get it done sooner rather than later as ifly is already in the middle of bringing their max to msfs and they're not developing anything else. If p3d is any indication, their max would be a solid alternative to pmdg. That would be good news to some here that have have fallen out of favor with pmdg.

Okay it's been mentioned...might anyone from PMDG have answered the question? I would go to their forum myself, but I'd rather stick needles in my eyes than spend much time on PMDG's forums.

    From Chris Makris:

All, we believe this is now resolved. Please do a factory reset of the tablet and then re authenticate with Navigraph. Please advise if you still see it.

Ive not seen the uft update in the marketplace 737 700. For those with the uft can it be hidden or disabled and just rely on the good old FMC?

They submitted it for review with the ms marketplace for review a few days ago. Once the marketplace team approve it, it will be made available for you folks. The UFT can be enabled and disabled through an option in the FMC.

I requested take off and cruise winds in the LEGS - RTE DATA page after I loaded my flight plan. Not sure if I'm doing it right because it seems to take very long and it doesn't immediately show the winds even after I load them.

On the takeoff performance page, click next page to go to page 2. You should see a section that allows you to add in the winds to the takeoff performance data.

Ah ok, cool. I thought it was something I was doing in the fmc.

    EFB speeds were -

    V1 - 136

    VR - 139

    V2 - 140

    FMC were -

    V1 - 135

    VR - 138

    V2 - 139

because the difference was only 1kt across the board I thought it was a simple disrepency in the weights etc. Cheers.

Out of curiosity, did you enter in takeoff wind data on page 2 in the fmc?

Takeoff intersection data you can not edit length they are aware of that. On the landing enroute you can't edit either and some of the distances are shorter than what they should be. I think Dublin was like 200 metres shorter than what it was saying on the charts.

Out of curiosity, what distances are you trying to edit on the landing section and for what purpose? The only thing I would think you would want to edit is the landing config (flaps, rev thrust, autobrake, landing wt, etc).

Edit: I may have misread, but if you mean that you can't edit things like flaps, etc. Then yea email their tech team because I can edit those.

Not sure if just me but can't adjust landing distance. Even though announcement says - Reduced runway length computations.

I have also found if you want to type in airport ICAO it freezes the sim for a few seconds each time you input a letter to find the airport since it brings a list up.

Pretty sure "reduced runway length computations" refer to take off, eg intersection departure. Landing you can select various things like autobrake, flaps, reversers, etc to see the approximate landing distance for that configuration.

  8. I thought PMDG were pretty clear as to what held them up. It's been stated by various avsim members in almost every single PMDG EFB topic on this forum. They are also clear that it's not fully featured yet on released and they are working to get those other items implemented as soon as they can. Eventually they will move the ground items and door handling to the efb so you can get to them in 2-3 clicks instead of 2-4.

No, if you check the NEXRAD equipped aircraft they use horizontal and vertical projection.

the Maddog uses horizontal projection iirc.

That viral video that NgDriver put out wasn’t really well researched and portrayed this idea that only one form of projection is available, when there’s 3. There’s horizontal and vertical with configurable conical projection. The only slight problem is that the “radar” isn’t great at filtering ground returns at times.

Quick question, when you say configurable conical projection, do you mean that you can modify the dispersion angle of the vertical returns?

i can't understand why fenix or pdmg doesn't want to implement it like leonardo did

Fenix is unable to based on how they designed their plane. To do, so would severely degrade their performance. My guess is that it has to do with them running their displays externally or something like that. (I'm not a programmer)

No idea why PMDG doesn't implement it. Could be that they think it's too rudimentary to bother implementing it. Could be for similar reasons as Fenix, but given Leonardo was able to, I'm not sure if that is the reason. Of course they both are designed differently, so hard to say.

I think Asobo WX radar is certainly useful and I am firmly in the camp of better to have it than not. However, their returns though vertically conical are pretty wide so you can still get returns reflected pretty close to you on the radar (like 20 nm out) even though you are sufficiently above the precip. layer, so that makes it harder to tell if you are actually going to run into that precipitation until you are very close to it. Not sure if you can change that, but I believe it's fixed.

I had no TOD point at all and my CDU didn't told me i am any nm away from the TOD what it does if there is a planned TOD - as far as i know..

But i will try some other flights with Simbrief plans to see what is goeing on.

    cheers 😉

Just to clarify, the TOD point didn't show even when you were within 500 nm of the airport?

  12. Let's just say for the sake of argument, that the sim will still dynamically react to supposed terrain, even though visually flat due to photoreal scenery, I would still prefer MSFS due to the dynamic environment than p3d, even if things like turbulence, etc is still considered overdone. In my opinion, it has better default planes and systems (at least the ones I care about flying). It's also still a better performer. I can't comment on Xplane since I only tried 11 once or twice briefly and didn't care for it.

  13. Hi there,

I have the same issue, and I am VERY confident that it has something to do with the white dot bug that cropped up on the avionics update recently. Since then I have had trouble when it comes to push/pull as well (even with v1),  if I click enough it does eventually register but still very annoying. I sometimes also get it in other planes as well. The blinking that you described coincides with how the white dot bug manifests itself in sim.

Sorry for resurrecting this old thread. But there seems to be an issue with the FenixV2 - at least for me.

I have the Honeycomb Bravo (with no Reverse on the Axis). In FenixV1 setting up a custom calibration worked fine like described here: Leave the throttle at the zero position for max reverse, idle reverse and idle. Then the Fenix recognized the zero position as idle and there was no reverse on the axis.

But when I do the same now, the FenixV2 recognizes the zero position as idle reverse. To get idle I have to move the throttle a little forward. So now I have idle reverse on the axis and I see no way to get rid of it.

If I use the default calibration it works fine though, no reverse on the axis. But I'd like to make some adjustments for Climb and MCT.

    Anybody else with this problem?

And in this context, does anybody know if the calibration is saved to a file somewhere? So maybe that file can be edited as a workaround?

    Thanks!

I had that happen with V1 actually. I recently got spad and decided to recalibrate and it did what you are describing. I don't know how it remedied itself because I put it away for a day or two and when I came back, I recalibrated again and it worked.
