  1. Tom and I have taken the discussion to PM, and are both still in one piece.
  2. I'm not sure what else I can add ........ I guess the salient point for me is that all these planes (except the SR22) run great and there is not a lot between them, performance-wise. My preference for the DR400 is, as explained earlier, solely because it is a training type aircraft, as I am used to in real world flying.
  3. Tom, would you listen to yourself? ........... Sorry but you are one guy who is seriously living some dillusions of grandure. You run a flight sim forum for the lord's sake Tom .... you're not curing cancer. I teach kids with severe learning disabilties due to brain injuries and serious head traumas ...... some of you guys should come along for the day and get some perspective..... So help me out; who are the "turkeys" in this analogy (I guess that you're the Eagle)... And Chase, do every day people here care whether some of the staff (and members) are 'powerful' outside the forum? ....... I mean 'powerful' to one person may be insignificant to someone else. This thread is a bad indictment of some boys who are real serious about defending their playhouse .... I never, ever play the gender card, but you need some sensible females around here to balance the male egos that are out of control. ..........ban me if you need to guys, or if this post threatens to institution here.
  4. You must not have got to the bottom of my post where I said;- ....... we have exactly the same issues. But I personally believe that as Admin / Moderators, if we lose our cool and get rude, then we open ourselves up to calls of hypocrisy. That's just my view on that aspect - I am of course not claiming to be perfect, and I too have weaknesses.
  5. I am so new here that my view is almost insignificant. But Word Not Allowed helped me with a persistant graphical bug that was ruining my enjoyment of the sim. And as I use FSX as a training aid for my PPL studies, that was a big deal to me. Whenever I have searched this forum looking for answers, the same name came up again and again, with the answer I required - Word Not Allowed's. It is a real shame that you guys have needed to take the action that you've taken in my honest opinion. I believe that forgiveness and friendship can get around most issues without "lifetime bans" being required. There seem to be a lot of references about Word Not Allowed's "attitude" yet I will stick my neck out and be honest here - some of the attitude I am seeing from the staff of this forum is, in my book, very sharp, condescending and unnecessary. Just as a point of reference for my comments, I am the Admin of North America's most popular health and fitness fora.
  6. I guess so  I had not even heard of this platform 2 hours ago, and saw some references to it on the FSX forum. I quite fancy giving it a pop, and as I am a genuine student of flight, the academic licence pricing is quite tempting! But I am a 100% Opus and TrackIR user so thanks to you both for the heads up that they still work with this one.
  7. Great. I really hope it's possible to share your work once it's done?
  8. Absolutely! ....... The RealAir Legacy feels perfect how it is. For me, the DA20 feels a little more like I'm used to in the real world, with the flight model sliders down 10% or so.
  9. Hi there, Could any you fine people tell me if OpusFSX works with P3D, and also (as I understand P3D does not have native TrackIR support?), does OpusFSX allow TrackIR to work with P3D? Many thanks for the help.
  10. Ah.... is this where you engage IAS mode on the GFC700 and the throttle then becomes 'fixed' (cannot be adjusted).... I wondered why that happened! ..... so if I understand correctly, this model is using an autothrottle to control speed on the "IAS" mode, instead of just adjusting aircraft pitch as the real airplane does, right? That does seem really bizarre...... an autothrottle in a single piston aircraft! .... I wonder why they did that. I have no previous experience with this developer, but I have to say it is my first disappointing purchase in the hobby - made worse by the one line email telling me to just switch off all displays in flight, to improve performance....
  11. This is great work! Some 3D objects really improve things.
  12. Wow, what a fantastic experience - I think the waiting 757 would definitely have got some beads of sweat on my brow! I am wondering (being nosy to be more accurate), from your signature, whether this was in Iceland? ........ I spent a very happy honeymoon in Reykjavik, up on the glaciers, blue lagoon, etc. (sorry for the O/T!).
  13. Hi Tim, I'm certainly up for slandering or even criticizing developers on a public forum (I'm far too new to this hobby for that), but I can say in actual fact that I dropped Carenado (I've been spelling their name wrong on other threads lol!) an email about the dreadful SR22 performance, and I received the following exact reply ;- "Close the MFD and if necessary the PFD in the VC during flight, to improve the performance". make what you want of that, but it did not give me confidence that these guys are taking this issue seriously, and I am not expecting anything to change with the product - of course I hope I'm wrong on that! Closing flying displays on a high end G1000 aircraft - while flying it - is a ludicrous suggestion in my view.
  14. The DA-20 is pretty convincing in terms of perceived 'virutal weight' and handling character. What is quite different is the power level and management. The 125hp DA20 that I fly, feels quite considerably more powerful than this model (probably quite appropriately), and of course the sound of the engine is very, very different. But the Aerosoft DA-20 is not attempting to simulate the model that I fly, so that is of course fair enough. Twitchiness on the pitch axis: - well it is a very light aircraft and those long wings do give a very distinct pitch axis for the plane to swing on.... I would say the real DA20 I fly feels about 10% less sensitive and pitchy than the simulated aircraft ....... but maybe that's solely down to having the 'feel' of the real aircraft, so (unlike FSX) you are constantly making small adjustments without really being aware of it. In FSX the 'cues' for those adjustments are solely visual, so it's more difficult. I personally find that reducing all of the "Flight Realism" settings by around 10-15% in FSX, gives a more convincing feeling of real flight, than having them all on 'max'. The DR400 really is superb and as light as any aircraft (even the default C172) on my system. But it has a lot of depth and features, so it so much better than the default aircraft. On my system the RealAir Legacy and the DA20 are not far off eachother, performance-wise, but the Legacy is definitely a little lighter on performance. I only own the above listed 5 aircraft addons at present, but if I had to choose only 1 to fly, it would be the DR400.
  15. I think it's a case of some do, some don't to be honest. It seems to me that the larger the airport, the better it blends, but some 'strip' type fields can be badly misplaced.
