  1. I'd like your opinions on how to get night lighting corrected on my P3d v3.2 setup. Basically, it looks like any urban / suburban textures are a raging firestorm - way too bright and lit up everywhere. (I don't have a good place to store a photo, or I would have a link here...) My setup: - v3.2 - Orbx Global and LC NA - UTX roads - REX textures for water, sky, clouds - using PTA v2.0 I have tried every combination I can think of - Orbx night lighting on / off, UTX night lighting on / off, reduced the autogen emissive value in PTA. These things make a bit if difference, but overall it looks like a forest fire below me. The rest of my P3d world looks great. Thanks, Ron
  2. It seems to be acceptable. Probably a stutter or two that might not have been there before; but the visual improvement is worth it.
  3. So all this time, I have had tessellation set to off. I figured I have a good mesh for the areas I fly; and I heard it was hard on the CPU. I also have PTA v2, and the world looked pretty good - except for my weird light bluish lakes and rivers. And I could barely see any cloud shadows. Just for the heck of it, I turned tessellation 'on' tonight while experimenting, and - Christmas gift! - my lakes and rivers are darker, and while not dramatic, I can see moving cloud shadows. Does anyone have any idea why this would be?? I thought tessellation was just for the details of the physical landscape. Edit: I have v3.2, GTX970 card, and almost new driver. Tessellation is set one notch left of extreme right on all sliders. Ron
  4. Hey, all... I am currently running v3.2 - never felt the need to update for the GA flying that I do; and my slightly older system runs fine. Except for the last hotfix, people seem to be happy with v3.4. Is it worth updating for me? All opinions welcome. Thanks, Ron
  5. Similar story here - but I went from a tricked-out FS9 setup to P3D. Skipped FSX completely! Time marches on... Ron
  6. Beautiful shots! I would give up a major body part to have clouds like those. Ron
  7. Rob and Sean, I simply repeat what so many others have said - thank you both! Your contributions to this obsession we have are among the best to be had from any source. I am honored to be among the last to have purchased the wonderful Duke! May you both enjoy a well-deserved rest. Peace. Ron
  8. To all the kind folks you responded to this thread, I finally decided to go with the Real Air V2 Duke. With the extra hints people supplied, she is flying just fine, and I am loving this aircraft! Can't wait to take her on a long cross country. Ron
  9. Wow - a lot of great information! Thanks, everyone! Dave, that's a great idea about possible upcoming sales. I can wait that long. Since the piston Baron isn't ready yet; and I don't want to go turbine; it may be that the C310 would be a good start. I read a few reviews last night, and it looks great. Regards to all, Ron
  10. Just a quick search for your opinions on a few of the best single pilot, twin piston engine aircraft for P3D? I only fly GA; and usually the A2A Cessna. I'd like to move up to something faster and more challenging. Thanks, Ron
  11. +1 for amazing! I love the colors and details. Fantastic job. Ron
  12. Anyone, I am running v3.2.3 with a GTX970 board and the latest drivers. I have tried every way to install and replace that I can think of, and I still do not get clouds shadows. I get faint streaky patches on the ground, but realistic clouds shadows. Can anyone think of a possible reason and/or fix? Thanks, Ron
  13. Beautiful shots! Best Hawaii scenery I think I have seen. What is it?
  14. Thank you, Mitch! Very kind of you to post this detailed info! I will try to set mine up to closely match yours (don't have all the same addons...) We'll see what happens! Regards, Ron
  15. Beautiful shots. Can I ask what type of scenery, clouds, etc you have running? I am also using 3.2, and my scenery does not look as good / realistic as yours. Thanks for sharing! Ron
  16. Thanks, vcarlo. Looks like I will be spending some $$...again... :-) Ron
  17. Can anyone explain if the night lighting is from the new LC product; or from using Vector?
  18. Beautiful shots! Thank you. It's a great area to fly in... Ron
  19. Thanks, Andy! You rock!! The shots look great. Much appreciated. Ron
  20. If I could ask a huge favor from someone: I would love to see a screenshot of the Shenandoah Valley in VA, from Front Royal looking south towards Luray. That will tell me whether to stick with my custom "mix-and-match" scenery files, or switch to OLCNA. I love the Orbx regions, so this new package is very tempting. It can be posted, or PM me. Thanks in advance! Ron
  21. I saw a few comments and photos over in the Orbx' forums. Anyone here have it installed? What are your opinions? I am thinking more about accuracy than beauty; as I'm sure it looks great. Ron
  22. Rob, New Mobo has not arrived yet - so, impatiently waiting! Yes, lots of great advice from everyone here. Much appreciated! Ron
  23. Thanks for the great advice, everyone. Anyone have any experience with Johnman's comment? Hadn't thought of that. I do have multiple, complete backups of my P3D install and files; and Windows will remain untouched unless I wipe it out and start over. I just assumed everything would need to be officially installed from scratch. Ron
  24. Hi, all. The motherboard in my computer has passed on. I will be getting a similar replacement (not matching); which means reinstalling Windows 7, and then P3D. What is the preferred method to reinstalling everything? ORBX landclass and mesh product first? Regional sceneries next? Aircraft last? I only want to go through this one time... Thanks, Ron
