  1. I went back to FSX simply because all the scenery I had would not run properly in P3d. I bought the fixer for DX 10 and now it's running great! I still have P3d on my computer and go back to it, from time to time, as they improve the product. I was disapointed to learn and based on the "requirements" thought it was a 64 bit system, then after I bought it,,,,found out, it was not.

I'm happy that there is someone like LM that will continue to upgrade their flightsim, because THAT is our future. But, after saying that, there is not much use, in wasting time, trying to get a 32 bit system to really do the job. As long as I can have FSX, along with using the DX fixer and good scenery coming out with ORBX, I'll have to be satisfied with that. I applaud LM and hope they continue to improve P3d, but right now they should stop wasting their time on the 32 bit and get a 64 bit system,,,,,and THAT will change the flightsim world.

  2. Hi all,

First post on this site. I have tried DX10 preview in FSX, but each time it messed up. After buying P3d v2 and not getting (yet) what I wanted, I reinstalled FSX, and tried DX 10 again today. I have 3 screens, 2 of which I use for gauges and the main for scenery. I had the same problem with (dx10) as I did before trying to pull the main panel gauges to another screen, just wouldn't work.

I then restarted fsx w/ dx10 and only used the main screen for all,, and wow, did it look great! I never saw ground texture like that before (using Orbx PNW).  It looked as good as a photo, and flew so smooth, it seemed to be floating in air.

If I have to, I'll use a single screen from now on,,,I do have TrackIR too. But would like to ask, if the dx10 fixer will fix the problem of using multi screens? Or is there a work around,,,I'm buying the fixer anyway, but hoping.

    Thanks,

    Larry

  4. Hi all,

I un-installed FSX about a week ago,,,,I have now,,,re-installed it, and will keep it, and use it, until I see that P3d v2.? can use addon's the same as FSX, and will run as FSX does. I still have P3d on my computer, and as I get pointer's from people like you, and try them, such as the autogen.

I do believe that P3d is the future, but for now, it's not ready for primetime.

I haven't tried the update software for dx-10, but I'm looking into it. If anyone has it, can you recommend it?

    Larry

PS, we need a 64 bit flight sim, other than X Plane, which I tried and couldn't even understand how to get it set up like FSX or P3d.

  5. I guess I fit in this catagory too. When I started with FSX a few years ago, I was one of those who wanted a cockpit as close to the real thing as possible, set up to an Airbus 318, 320, etc. I didn't fly to much, cause I was to busy building,,,, I bought all kinds of addon's that,,,,really were a waste of good money. Only thing that turned out OK was scenery.

Then one day I realized each time I did fly, was with the Beech Baron 58. I still have my sim, and will add/chg it from time to time,  but I scaled down,,,,,a lot!

I bought Prepar3d v2 and even though I had problems, I liked it, got the update,,,and now I can start P3d up, the Baron 58 comes up, and all three screens setup as I want them,,,,and I FLY. FLY, FLY!

I'm hoping to get Orbx's Global, Victor, and as many Orbx scenery's as I can,,,,and that's it.

P3d is the future and I have un-installed anything that has FSX in it. And I sure feel a LOT better.

  6. klamal,

Thanks very much for your reply, it helped a great deal. But, I'd to ask, what is the purpose of setting the scenery to a higher priority? I have tried Bluesky scenery, and thinks it great. I don't mind flying in day only at all, prefer it really.

But I'm really curious about this priority thing?

    Thanks,

    Larry

  7. Hi all,

A couple of things, first, how do you change/move the "priority" in the Scenery Library? Second, is photoreal scenery simply satilite photos? They look so flat and it's plain to see the buildings are placed, so I'm not very fond of that type of scenery. Orbx has great scenery, but after switching to P3d v2, they are not compatible.

I was also wondering if I could get opinion's on what you all think is the best addon scenery, Or how to best get the truest look. I'd like very much to fly in areas that look as they really are.

    Thanks

  8. Hi all,

I just got TrackIR going and it's running great. I am also getting P3d running better in other ways. Unlike FSX, I can fly as soon as it installs my saved loaded scenery & aircraft type. What a joy to be able to do that. I saved the same way in FSX, it did save it with gauges as I arranged them on each monitor, but they all loaded on the main monitor and then I had to drag them again to the proper monitor and resize them to fit.

With P3d, now I don't have to do that! It loads the correct way, each time!!

If I can run like this now, I can't imagine how good it will run with the patch installed. And, upgrades will keep coming, as time goes on. I think I can safely say now, I can uninstall FSX and say "Goodby".

  9. Hi all,

Has anyone been able to get Trackir going in P3d v2? I tried, but trying to run, all it done was jerk around to different screens. Any ideas? I have heard others say it worked fine for them?

    Thanks,

    Larry

  10. Hi all,

I see ad's about scenery, and I'm a little, a lot, confused about scenery terms, such as, landclass, and mesh. I think mesh concerns the shape of the surface, but the term "landclass", I don't get?

Can someone explain to me, just what it is. I was looking at a "Scenery Tech - Africa landclass v1.0", and at looking at the images, it looked like it added trees, rivers, etc. I thought landclass was simular to mesh?

Any info will help me greatly, thank you,

    Larry

ps, what is the best brand to buy of these?

  11. Hi all,

I received REX4 (2 disks) and attempted to install it. But on the 1st disk, about 3/4 way, I got a box that popped up saying, " Source file not found: D:\rexte3.cab. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it."

I checked on the disk, and that file was not on it. It did have rexte1 and 2, but not the 3rd? I tried to get on the REX4 site and even though I'm logged in, it said I didn't have permission?

Any ideas would be most helpful.

    Thanks, Larry

  12. Hi all,

I have been updating my flight sim after getting Prepar3d v2. I have replaced my 42" tv/monitor with a 50". Problem is, with the 42" I was getting an avg of 20 fps, and with the 50" I'm only getting from 6 to 9 avg?

Anyone know what may be the reason? Also, after getting the lower fps, I started messing with the settings and found that lowering the slide bars even to the far left, made no difference at all with the fps, none?

What's up with that? Seems like there should have been some sort of change?  Other than that, P3d is running OK. Just a note, I installed the Migration software and every addon has shown up,,,,so far?

  13. This is what I'm thinking when I wrote this post, or trying to figure out. All of you which have good results with P3d are running 64 bit os. But have heard nothing from any 32 bit os, about how well P3d is running?  I'm wondering if all, or most of those that are not having any luck should have 64 bit os to solve the problem

It would be nice to hear from others about this.

I see I have 2 posts about this, but was having trouble and wasn't sure the first attempt was successful.

  14. Hi all,

I have been reading a lot of neg posts and a lot of pos post about Prepar3d. I received P3d v2 for C'mas, which I asked for.  And installed in on my old win 7 32 bit os, and it was terrible to say the least. I then re-installed my 64 bit os and the difference was night & day.

So, I would like to ask anyone who wants to take the time here to reply to this post simply by saying,,,,,,,,1), does P3d work fair, good, or great ,for you, and 2) what OS system you have on your computer,,,,,32 bit or 64 bit?

    exp;

my P3d works, good and I have a 32 bit os

my P3d works fair, and I'm have a 64 bit os

I'm just wondering how P3d in running, and how, and on what os system is being used?

  15. Thanks Mike

I'm thinking the best or at least as far as viewing an image as if I were looking through the windshield of a plane. I'm considering other ways of doing this. I now have a single 42" lcd tv and was looking at, a projector,,,,a 50" lcd tv or,,,,,I already have a 32" led tv, and was thinking of buying a second 32" and placing them side by side.

I am using a Nivida GRFORCE  660 VC, 2 gig mem.

This card will allow me to do a wide screen to combine the 2 monitoirs into one display.    BUT, in doing that, I can't use a third monitor for gauges cause it would be picked up by the widescreen and added to it.

    A guestion for all:

Could I add a second VC (cheaper one) that I can use for gauges?

Of the 3 ways, which do you think would be the best and perhaps less costly.

    Thanks,

    Larry

  16. Hi all,

Well, I may be hooked and try the projector. I wanted to ask MikeT707 about his curved screen. How did you curve the screen and keep all the image in focus? My sim is in one of the bedrooms I did use as an office. I beleive I could install the projector, an Acer 1240 for under $400 at Walmart. I says it's a short throw and projects a 109" at 2 meters. I figure I can get an 80" screen size on the wall in front of my sim, so that should hopefully bring the distance to 4 to 5 feet?

A projected image outside the sim seems like it would be a more natural way to go. If I'm able to download the manual, I can better get an idea of what I can do.

Thanks to each of you for your replys. Any further details of how you did yours would also help a lot.

  17. Hi all,

I got Prepar3d v2 for C'mas, but my SSD went out on me and Installed a new HD I put Win 7 32 bit on, instead of my 64 bit version. So I installed P3d anyway, and very disapointed in it. I hated to but re did everything and installed the 64 bit Win 7. Reinstalled P3d and what a difference, it was great.

I bought the migration tool, installed it, and after installing  a 3rd party plane, in didn't show up in P3d? So, I have to check on that.

But as far as FSX vs P3d, I'll chose P3d, even thought I'll most likely loose a lot of planes, scenery, etc. Reason being,,,,,,FSX is at an end in it's development and 3rd party software can only go so far with it, where as P3d is just starting and it's developement is only starting too. Third party developers will also be able to improve their products as P3d gets better.

Yes, I could run both,,,,but the graphics, smoothness and other things I see in P3d, its no need to have both. When I get P3d running and understand more about it, I'll say goodby to FSX, it I haven't already.

  18. Hi all,

I got PrePared v2 re-installed with the 64 bit win 7 and did much better. Used Spad and Saitek, yoke, peddles, and quad was OK. Now, I'll start tinkering with the settings and see how far I can go up on the slide bars.

There was one problem I really hope I can get solved, and that is I was able to get the main panel to show up, but was unable to get on another monitor. I could see the mouse go over to the monitor, but the panel didn't show up.

Anyone know what I may be doing wrong or a work around. While flying using the virtual panel and it looked and flew great in the Baron 58. I most not be using FSX very much longer.

    Thanks,

    Larry

  19. Hi all,

I just posted this topic on the Prepar3d fourm.

    Hi,

I'm new to this forum, so hope I'm in the right place. My son bought me Prepared for C'mas (at my request) and was eager to see it compared to FSX. Install went well and was able to set some settings, and found it was much like FSX.
But when I went to trying to fly, it came up with a military jet going in circles around some airport and I could do nothing to control it.

I know this is a new product to some extent, but expected it to be some what stable. I finally was able to select a new aircraft (while the jet was spinning) and select a new airport. The engines were already running and somehow got it flying, but not from the runway, it just went airborn somehow.

From what I was able to determine was, it looked great, was smooth and flew great. While I was later setting up my Saitek yoke, pedals, and throttle quad, which by the way, only the fuel mix worked, after calibration that went OK. My setup includes 3 monitors, main for scenery and the other two for instr's. Some how all 3 monitors went into widescreen showing scenery and no matter what I did, it stayed that way.

Another point, when I was able to get a steady view in the Baron 58, I was able to get the main panel up, but was unable to move it to other monitor. I saw the mouse pointer in the other screen, but not the panel.

I did, by mistake load my 32 bit win 7 by mistake, instead of the 64 bit I wanted to after mt SSD drive went out the day before I installed PrePar3d, but it is still suppose to run in 32 bit?

I can't remember all of what went wrong, but I can say I was very, very, very, disapointed in Prepar3d v2. I uninstalled it and went back to FSX. I intent to put the 64 bit win 7 back on my computer later and keep trying hoping at some point it will work. I am running a AMD 8 core cpu and a GEFORCE GTX 660, 2 GB MEMORY CARD, so I'm sure I can handle Prepar3d.

Anyone who has any ideas, I'd like to hear them, so I can get this going. I believe it is in my future to use this sim. What I can't understand, is why the stayed with the 32 bit and not advance to the 64 bit, so more memory could be used, which, I beleive would help in a big way.

    Thanks,

    Larry

I just wanted them to know the difficulity I had with their product, not to grip. Having this much trouble, I wouldn't think, is wide spread? As I told them, I'll install the 64 bit os and try again. What little I did see in my short flight was exciting and can't wait to really get it going. In my later years, I have learned to be more patience.
