  1. Price. Only that. Close to zero. Works 100%, except some very specific cases, for example errors in some versions, always timely fixed by Flight1. Conclusion. If price is no problem for you, then buy it. You will not want to fly without anymore.
  2. As I can't wait, I want to know all and now! I am all ears.
  3. Define "certain degree of complexity". Airliners are no medium-complex or half complex, they are simply complex. Period. And so are business jets and most turboprops. Take into account that after 11 years I have found no default GNS for FSX/P3D which acts even close to the real counterpart. If you want this, you buy Flight1 or Reality XP gauges and this means $ 50 for each gauge. Creating a ProLine 21, a Prodigy G1000 or any FMS would cost itself at least 3 or 4 times the sales price of FSW. Not to mention the rest. In my opinion, it would make no sense to add default airliners with very basic systems today. It made sense 11 years ago, now things changed after so many high-level third party addons have been brought to the market. The flight simulator is a platform, just that. You fill it with 3rd party addons when, where and as much as you like. If any, of course.
  4. Neither funny nor unexpected. Complex aircraft can't be part of the stock hangar in an early simulator with an announced very low consumer price. Liners, turbotrops and all kinds of complex aircraft may only be provided by third parties, if any. We know about PMDG because they made a public statement here explaining their concerns. May I ask you who are the other "3rd party devs who make such said jetliners"? Any news or indication from FSLabs, Aerosoft, Majestic and others? Just asking.
  5. If you can't believe it, then you clearly do not know this community. And indeed, your six posts here may be a good indication for such surprise. Believe me, my friend. Each and every time a new simulator appeared on the horizon so far, it was always welcomed with a wave of destructive overcriticism and negativity even before it was released. It happened several years ago with Microsoft Flight, it happened two years ago when DTG announced their decision to invest in FSX and develop a new platform, it happened more recently when IPACS released AeroFly FS2 and it is still happening now, at least in part, with X-Plane, despite the long list of improvements introduced with version 11. When I read, here or on YouTube, comments like "FSW is already grounded" with a grin of self-satisfaction and smiling complaisance, in all honesty I ask myself if I am in a community of adults. It is not redundant to remind that we are a very small niche within the gaming community and that we strongly need to grow our user base and attract investors. Instead of encouraging the few software developers who decide to invest money and time into this complex market, our community appears to have an incredible capability to scare them and keep them away with preemptive criticism, speculation, unreasonable expectations, personal bias and partisan bickering. I will be very happy to be proven wrong, but I strongly doubt this attitude will bring us very long. To be completely honest, I can't blame Microsoft for dropping us years ago and sometimes I wonder why smaller and bigger houses like IPACS, DTG and Laminar keep on investing money, time and resources in this market just to receive eggs on their faces, often even before Day 1. While I admire them, I do not envy them at all. I for sure wouldn't do it.
  6. Are you seriously expecting an airliner of the like of PMDG, Majestic or even Aerosoft being included in the stock hangar? In an early access simulator, which will have an entry level price of $ 25, except for those like me who will get it for free? Seriously? Again, may I ask you which kind of "bigger aircraft" are you talking about, guys? Liners? Turboprops? Take a look at the current offer for FSX/P3D. You will not find any of these aircraft with very complex systems and avionics for less than $40. Or are you asking for those simplified toys which came with FSX? Complex aircraft are a third party thing. Period. It is not reasonable to ask such complex birds as default aircraft in an entertainment level simulator.
  7. I completely agree with both. This is one of the aircraft I use most and it would definitely need some "love" (including some additional liveries) to step to the next level. I will try the mod and report accordingly. About this: Well, this is working randomly here. In most cases the AP automatically switches to ALT after properly reaching the selected altitude. In some cases, however, it does not. One workaround I've learned meanwhile is to manually decrease the VS when getting close to the selected altitude. Obviously this is not supposed to happen in the real thing, but based on my experience it helps avoiding the risk of the AP remaining in ALT SEL CAP and the aircraft keeping climbing beyond the selected altitude. Thank you for your efforts.
  8. Guys, for the last time: that post was simply sarcastic. Yes, I have seen the FF annoucement and that was one of the reasons for my sarcasm. The X-Plane11 environment and user base are growing wildly, yet this simulator is still constantly attacked for allegedly "not supporting liners and study level aircraft". That's part of the historical negativity of this community, nothing new. In other words: please don't take it literally. Sorry for the OT.
  9. In my opinion, it is pointless asking for turboprops and/or liners in the stock hangar of a product that will be launched at $/€ 25. This would be completely unrealistic. Complex aircraft are third party work.
  10. ...oh, but X-Plane has no study level aircraft...
  11. Not stunning, but I definitely liked what I saw.
  12. DTG is not locking anything: neither freeware nor payware. I have lost the count of all the times that Aimée and other DTG representatives made this crystal clear in other threads. Which part of "Developers can sell their products through their own sales channels, as long as they also sell through Steam" is not clear? It is already happening with DCS titles, it is already happening with a long list of FSX Steam titles from a long list of flight sim developers, it is already happening with thousands of gaming titles. If I want to buy the King Air 350i directly from Milviz or the PMDG 777 directly from PMDG, nothing and nobody is going to stop me from doing that. Except that Milviz and PMDG will decide not to develop for FSW at all, which is obviously their own business decision. Filippo Nesi
  13. LOL. I am not a native English speaker, but you should appreciate my efforts to be considered as part of the 'overculture' Now seriously. Yes, DTG Flight School was definitely ugly, yet it featured a lot of promising pros that I hope will be taken and improved by FSW.
  14. Ok I found myself the appropriate thread on Orbx forum. I made myself several tests with Flight Schools months ago. I added a lot of photoreal (only scenery I was able to add) and raised the LOD up to 12.500000 with all possible settings maxed out. The results were in part amazing. While this impacted the performance, I was surprised that the FPS drop was less severe than expected . Since nobody seemed to care, I did not post this here or any other fora. :-)
  15. Hi Devon, which simulator are we talking about? Is he a FSW Orbx betatester?
  16. Well, I am only speaking for myself. And, of course, I am only trying to do an educated guess, if not a pure speculation, as I do not know exactly what FSW will bring up to the market and how developers will react to this move. Nobody knows. I for sure will not pay again for addons that I already have. Period. I see no point in doing this, having made a considerable investment in FSX/FSX-SE along the years and being mostly still happy with what I see with 32-bit. I keep watching at FSW and P3Dv4 more as upgrades from the respective current version than as new simulators. FSW will bring 64-bit and probably several good improvements, yet this does not mean that it will be a brand new simulator. I don't think it will, I see it more as kinda FSX 2.0. As a result, I don't have big expectations and, honestly, I wonder why people insist in pointing to blurries, poppings, LOD problems and other flaws, which are well-known ESP issues that I strongly doubt will ever be erradicated completely, be it on 32 or 64-bit. The whole point here is: backwards compatibility. DTG made a conservative move by choosing an established platform. That's OK for me and this is why I supported DTG with FSX Steam and Flight School since the beginning. I am not asking for a new simulator with Unigine graphics, I am only asking to do what I am currently doing in a 64-bit environment. Other improvements are obviously welcome, but should this break the backwards compatibility up to the point that developers will have to rewrite substantial parts of the code and consequently charge for their upgrade, then this is a no-go for me. Example: am I supposed do pay more $ 150,00 for GTN750, GNS 530 and GNS 430 to Flight1 just to have the same thing on 64 bit? Obviously no. I have big expectations from Aerofly FS2, which I bought in Early access on Day 2 or 3. After watching the LOWI presentation by Orbx last week I am more and more convinced that I made the right move and this is the platform of the future for civilian aircraft. I will keep supporting DTG as I did so far, I will even consider new native addons for this platform, but for no reason I will pay again for addons that I already have.
  17. This is what is already happening with FSX Steam, Train Simulator and DCS.
  18. Liners are out? You will probably have most if not all your legacy addons available in a matter of weeks. The fact that legacy 32-bit addons will not be compatible out of the box, meaning from Day 1, does not mean they can not be made available for the new platform after some recompiling by the respective developers. Otherwise, how could Orbx FTX Global work on the new platform? Anyway, this is a more specific answer by Aimée about this:
  19. Guys, just for your information. Jordan King said yesterday he received a "go" for most part of his NDA. Whatever that means, it confirms that a lot of developers and gurus from the flight simulation world were actually aware about the progress of the sim, yet they could not speak due to that NDA. I guess the same applies to P3Dv4. The fact that nothing have been said for long time until yesterday's announcement, does not mean that nothing was happening behind the scenes. I hope this answers the OP question. So, be patient. And remember that both FSW and P3Dv4 will be simply reworked, revamped, optimized 64-bit versions of the same engine. My understanding, or at at least my guess, is that your current addons will be compatible in a near future after some recompiling. I would not be surprised if some developers, like PMDG, Aerosoft and other major 3rd party developers, would came up with a 64bit version ot their respective products in a matter of weeks after the final release.
  20. france89, Aimée just repeated today what Martin had already made clear two years ago: legacy addons will not be compatible out of the box, i.e. not immediately from Day 1 (except, maybe, for some sceneries and, possibly, other third parties who are secretly cooperating with DTG), but they will probably become compatible soon after some minor recompiling by the developers. DTG Flight Sim World was a conservative choice, remember. DTG opted for a long established platform instead of rebuilding a new simulator from zero exactly with this in mind: making legacy addons easily compatible with the 64-bit platform, taking into account that most of simmers are not ready to give up their investment. At least, this is my understanding. I agree about the rest. I was not "shocked to wow" by what I have seen so far, but again: this is FSX with a lot of rework and 64 bit. Not a new graphic engine. I have not big expectations in this regard. If Flight Sim World will allow me to use my current payware aircraft for FSX Steam in a 64-bit environment with some optimizations within a reasonable time (and reasonable upgrade costs), I am OK. If I want more than that, I have Aerofly FS2, which is in my view by far the most promising platform. I don't need more than this. Hugs
  21. They released a video teaser few hours ago. "Coming soon". No further details.
  22. This is the standard answer by those who have inside knowledge :-) The others can only hope for the best.
  23. Would be a great news, but needs some confirmation.
