A look at the new Carenado C182T FS2020
monica6211 replied to z06z33's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Yes, it works, though I did not try every single function of it. -
Powerlines and radio towers are what I'm really missing at the moment. Still, this sim is amazing.

Carenado 182 Skylane for MFS available
monica6211 replied to captain420's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
That is a hard one to answer. I am still getting used to setting up my controls, so my trim wheel is overly sensitive, so I still need to do some tweaking on my controls. To me, yes it does feel a bit nose heavy, especially compared to the 172. -

It is 29.99 in the Microsoft store. -

Maybe your hard drive that has the sim is fragmented. Just a thought. -

Yes, and it shows up properly on the fuselage, like it was part of the livery. -
Carenado 182 Skylane for MFS available
monica6211 replied to captain420's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I bought it and tried it out already. The plane itself looks amazing! The avionics look very similar to those in X-Plane and P3D. I'm not sure if there is any difference between Carenado's G1000 and Microsoft's since I haven't flown any other G1000 equipped planes in the new sim. When I choose a livery, on the choose livery screen, they all look the same, but each one actually is a different one once in the sim. Not sure if this is a bug. The only thing I don't like is the sound package. It is very loud, and has a weird high pitched sound at higher rpm. As far as the flight model, it does feel pretty realistic, a step up from the FSX/P3D version. I do really like the plane. -

Problem getting Reality XP G530 to run on XP11 (resolved)
monica6211 replied to gpaviation's topic in RXP GNS 530W/430W V2
Please don't give up. I'll keep trying to help you until we get it figured out. Can you post your log.txt from your main X-plane 11 folder? This may help me figure what is going on. -

@gpaviation, are you still having problems, or did you finally get it working? -
No, I doubt it. But, who knows? I'm one of those "Day 1 sign-ups" who still haven't received an invitation🥺, but my other sims have really kept me busy and entertained, so I'm sure I can wait until release day since it is right around the corner. At least I get to beta test some other cool stuff that will be releasing soon.

In your Log.txt in your X-Plane main folder, are there any lines with "rxpGNS" in it? If so, what does it say? -
http://help.realsimgear.com/en/articles/2777814-setup-for-reality-xp this is the portion of the setup that is required to get your buttons and knobs to function. The line you need to look at is "Use Simulator GPS Commands" The page is using the GTN gauges as the example, but the setup is the same for the GNS's. http://help.realsimgear.com/en/articles/2805587-gns430-setup-guide This section covers how to make sure the Sim is recognizing that the GNS gauge(s). Select the X-Plane Plugins menu, RealSimGear Device Interface menu item, click on "Connected Hardware" . You should get a window that shows "Hardware/Port/Version/...), under that on line #1 should show your GNS hardware IF it is recognized. If it is blank, you can try clicking the "Disconnect" button on the right side to disconnect all hardware, the "Connect" to try to establish connection. Sometimes this would fail for me, but disconnecting the USB cables from the back of the unit(s) and reconnecting them would usually get them to establish the connection. Also check to make sure you have the correct "CommandMapping.ini" file for your version of X-Plane from this page: http://help.realsimgear.com/en/articles/3090794-just-the-downloads (scroll down to "X-Plane Aircraft Config Files" to see the files)

Problem getting Reality XP G530 to run on XP11 (resolved)
monica6211 replied to gpaviation's topic in RXP GNS 530W/430W V2
Hmm, good to know. I wonder where it comes from. I opened it with wordpad and the first line references "sam". I do have SAM installed. Wonder if it interacts with RXP. -

when you look in your X-Plane 11 folder, do you have a folder called "rxpGNS" in your "X-Plane 11\Resources\plugins\" folder (so it should look like this "C:\X-Plane 11\Resources\plugins\rxpGNS" ? If so, do you have 2 folders and a file, "32, 64, apt.cache", and each of those folders should have two files. If not, RXP is not installed correctly. Also, for each plane you want to use the RXP 530/430 in, you have to add a "RealityXP.GNS.ini" into the aircraft's main folder (which you can find some pre-made files in the RXP forums). Even without this "ini" file installed, if RXP is installed into the sim correctly, "RealityXP GNS" should still show up in your plugins menu. OR, maybe RealityXP GNS is disabled in your "Show Plugin Admin" menu option. Just a few items to look at. I have both GNS430 and 530 installed, and it took a lot of research to get them working with RealSimGear, but once I got it all worked out, it has been an amazing experience using them. I'll be glad to help you out as much as I can. -
How can I disable mouse wheel zoom ?
monica6211 replied to jfri's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
There is a plugin available in the xplane org downloads called "xscrollwheel" that will allow you to disable the mousewheel OR re-assign it to do other functions like throttle, propeller, or mixture control, elevator trim, altimeter, autopilot functions and others. Great little plugin by barbarossa. -
Way too many light poles in the wrong place
monica6211 replied to LRBS's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
I see all of those light poles as well, and too many around my home airport (I68). Very annoying. If you turn off the hazards.bgl you lose ALL hazards, including radio towers and powerline towers. the poles wouldn't be so bad if they didn't have the red beacons on top, and if they wouldn't show up right in the middle of some airport ramp areas. -
I have been amazed at how much more immersive the sims are with VR. As mentioned above, there is no going back, at least not for me. The depth perception you get with VR really enhances the feeling that you are really there. I also have the Rift S. This is my first headset. I've had it a little more than half a year, and I haven't done a single flight without it since I got it. I do have a scratch on one lens, so I'll eventually have to part with it long enough to get it fixed. I do wear glasses, and there is enough space between the lenses (and it is adjustable) to keep from scratching them. And with so many new headsets about to hit the market, I wouldn't be surprised if the price for the Rift S comes down some, so maybe it not being available when you try to order it might just be a blessing. Only time will tell. I'm sure you will enjoy your new headset once you get it. I was blown away, and did get a little nauseous, on my first few flights. Hope to hear from you once you've tried it out a few times.

Share the same scenery for both p3d v3 and v4?
monica6211 replied to riccardo74's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
I'm sure it can be done using the XML method, but I have not tried it. But adding the scenery through the sim can be done. I do it all the time. As long as the scenery is compatible with each version, it can be done. Just go into your scenery library in the sim, add area, point to where the scenery is installed, and select ok. It doesn't matter if the scenery is used with any other sim, it can be shared with no problems. -
