  1. Hahahahahahaha! This has got to be staged, right? Neither the squirrel nor the airplane could be so lucky ...
  2. My first solo was in 1992. Here's what my instructor told me and what I told my students: 1. Your instructor has confidence in you, so should you. 2. You are never alone. There's a whole world ready to help you on the other side of that radio. 3. Even though there's noone sitting next to you, say things out loud and talk yourself through it. You'll notice if you miss something or if something doesn't sound right. 4. Wear a cheap tie. Have a good flight!
  3. Interesting video about air traffic control while fighting fires. Video is from 2012, but a search on the YouTube key didn't get any hits.
  4. So sorry to hear this. :( Go, create more memories with friends and family. AVSIM is already immortal. Thank you for creating this incredible community!
  5. Should've figured you'd be on AvSim, too.
  6. Amazing piece of work. Try out their Dukes.
  7. Living on the edge? Good news, indeed!
  8. Nose gear got stuck in the grass after brake failure. The KLM 747 is still there. Noone was hurt. Flight was from Nairobi. News from Dutch news site Twitter picture Flightradar24 E: Current info is here (in Dutch, but has video while it lasts).
  9. Well, being Dutch, I knew it was a commercial. Like you said, it doesn't take away from the cuteness.
  10. I'm going to take a wild guess and say
  11. That cyan line around the N1 indications, isn't that the hardware power position? It's showing almost full forward.
  12. Yeah, I posted about it here. Not going to touch it, though. Changing it is supposedly not trivial. :(
  13. At least I would want to change the course for the ILS, too. However, I'll take your advice and leave it alone.
  14. pastie.org is wonderful for pasting large amounts of text or code.
  15. Is it easy to change for someone who's never created, nor modified a scenery before? http://www.ocair.com/NewsRoom/News/2014/nr-2014-09-12.aspx

Vector command: "XX123, fly heading 230" Dial the round knob until the display says 230 and be in heading select and check that your aircraft is listening to you. Or, just fly manually. Whatever you have to do to fly heading 230 ...
  17. To get charts, I use whatever I can find on-line, like skyvector.com, VATSIM sites or government sites. Whatever's been said on this site about AIRAC data still applies now.
  18. Since my RW flying experience is strictly US, those are the charts I'm most comfortable with. This has nothing to do with any aircraft.
  19. Not sure. I don't think I have enough knowledge of the subject. If you have the airplane, it would be great if you have the time and willingness to try it out for yourself. I think the charts used are these: STAR/ILS. Other than that, it's down to mere curiosity for me now. And for the record: Non US charts are nasty ...
  20. Here's what I did, and I think it's the same as what you're doing: Fly ILS 04 down to minimums. Press TO/GA, clean the aircraft up and climb out. After stable at 3000' enter the STAR starting from LOREL Set 6000' on the MCP Click Altitude Intervene Now it won't accept altitude intervene. However, if I do NOT enter the star, it will accept the altitude intervene and climb to 6000 under VNAV PTH, same as in Antoni's video. He doesn't do what you do, though. Why this happens and if this is correct behavior, I do not know. I only know that it will not get out of VNAV ALT using altitude intervene after the STAR has been entered.
  21. The second article on the linked page is specifically about Steam. I haven't read it, since I don't use Steam for X-Plane.
