  1. Can I set it to align to magnetic north? Or manually offset it? See below how my magnetic heading is 090, as well as my track, but the compass on the GPS screen (EHSI) shows my true heading pointing at roughly 115.
  2. Wow that is a cool demonstration. It's interesting how different it looks in your peripheral compared to directly.
  3. Oh gosh yes. I would love a silent PC. I've actually just ordered a Noctua CPU cooler to rid myself of Intel's terrible stock cooler that hits something like 49dB every time I play MSFS. Not sure you could get a gfx card to run under 50w tho!
  4. Yeah, someone on the MSFS forums worked out from the reward points it would be $47-$48, so it seems that is the most likely price. I'm guessing $70 for the bundle, but hoping less. I also hope if you purchase only 1 version that they'll give you a discount code for the other (like they did with the Bonanza and Baron).
  5. Black Square's Caravan is pretty systems rich, and a bush plane. It's just missing the nice to have's, like opening doors.
  6. Videos probably aren't the best at showing it, as codecs will mess with how it appears compared to in person. Even so, I can see the difference there.
  7. Ah ok. Maybe I'll try a higher speed landing. I too try and stall it onto the runway. I'm getting pretty good at it now (my landings are usually around -100fpm), but you do have to be super gentle on the yoke for sure.
  8. I'm keen to see the pricing. Not sure whether to splash out on the bundle, or just get the piston. I'm not terribly fond of turboprops normally, but if the price is ok then I might. I wonder if they will offer a deal should you want to buy the other version later on.
  9. That's not my experience at all. In fact it's probably the easiest plane I have to trim for pitch. I only use two btns on my joystick (not a wheel). I know there is a pitch acceleration setting you can change in the tablet. Maybe check that? I do agree it's very pitch sensitive on flare though. You have to be very gentle. I just assumed the real plane has a lot of elevator authority at low speed. EDIT: Sorry, I see you already checked the trim acceleration.
  10. Yes the ESI500 is ok if it's two 1's I found. It's just a simple text wrapping bug I think. Not sure how you got your A/C set temp to show up. I see you like your airplanes to be toasty tho 🙂 @ 27C! I purchased the Black Square Caravan and that flies beautifully. It's sort of how I would imagine the Kodiak actually flies. You are right though. The Kodiak is beautiful to look at inside and out (despite being glass), but I've lost confidence in it's flight modelling now, so it's just sitting in the hanger not doing much.
  11. This topic always makes me laugh. I would get your eyes checked if you can't tell the difference imo. And I say that as someone who has no choice but to run the sim @ 30fps if i want it to look pretty. 30fps is fine for me, and I even use head tracking. But there is a fairly obvious difference between 30 and 60. One day I'll upgrade my GPU so I can run it at 60, but for now I'm happy with 30 and waiting to see what MSFS2024 and nVidia brings to the table at the end of the year.
  12. As long as it feels nice to fly then I'll be happy. I really like how their Caravan flies, but I'm not a huge fan of their Bonanza (feels quite twitchy). Those are the only 2 planes I have of theirs, but I'm eagerly awaiting the Duke. It may not be A2A level in terms of flight dynamics, but I suspect they've done their very best and I doubt it will disappoint.
  13. I upgraded the DLL to 3.6.0 and it is better, but not by a huge amount. I did notice that motion makes quite a difference. If you are sat still it looks a lot better than in flight. I do wonder if on airliners it may be less noticeable as you are often traveling much more smoothly compared to some little piston plane. DLSS/DLAA when stationary DLSS/DLAA in flight
  14. Maybe DLSS version? I know some people upgrade the DLLs for MSFS. I haven't done that.
  15. You can't increase render scale when choosing DLSS. It's a TAA only option.
  16. Ok, I take that back. TAA is still better than DLSS/DLAA. It's noticeable in a glass cockpit. DLSS\DLAA: TAA:
  17. I used to have this issue for many months when I first got the sim. It went away eventually. No idea what caused it.
  18. I can't tell a difference when sitting still either. But TAA looks much better to me in motion. Neither are great though. There are a lot of people who don't like temporal AA cus it's really not great for image clarity - there is a lot of blurriness and ghosting compared to the good old days of MSAA. I should add that the DLSS+DLAA option looks much better than DLAA only option. I'm not really sure what the difference is here technically, but they clearly work differently. Actually I just realised you said DLSS/DLAA, so I guess you're using DLSS+DLAA. In which case I agree, they aren't much different. Imo DLSS+DLAA works better than TAA, whereas DLAA only does not look better than TAA. For those confused, under Anti-Aliasing options you can select either TAA, DLAA, or DLSS. If you choose DLSS you can then select Performance, Balanced, Quality, or DLAA in the field below.
  19. I have the Logitech version of the X52 and it's full of noisy pots (and the same throttle creep). For reverse thrust I use a hold to toggle button. I hold down the button labeled D (in Windows it's button 7) and this toggles the throttle to control reverse thrust. Pull back to idle and take my finger off the toggle button to go back to forward thrust.
  20. I don't fly airliners, but the included 787 and A310 are both pretty depth heavy IIRC. Not Fenix or PMDG level, but I would think it would give you a fairly good ballpark of what performance you could expect. There is also the free FBW A320 which many people fly as their main airliner. Again, pretty depth heavy and doesn't cost you a dime. Going by your specs, I think you'd be fine.
  21. Yup same for me. But it only takes 1 second to hit Alt+Enter and make it fullscreen again. Not the end of the world.
  22. Well yes, that's what the second link was about. A new flight aerodynamics system that is multi-threaded, taking a lot of work off a single core, thus massive performance improvements. So they are changing how the sim is loaded and how the flight model is computed. If you ask me, that's basically as close to new architecture as you can get without a full rewrite. But yes, the sim will still probably benefit from a good CPU. Hopefully though, you won't need the best of the best CPU to get good performance. I'm expecting this new sim to not only look better, but run faster than 2020, on the same hardware.
  23. Yes, this. At 4K when you use DLSS Quality the GPU renders the game at 1440p and upscales it. 1440p is high enough resolution that it's probably not going to look too blurry, if at all. Whereas on a 1440p screen, DLSS Quality renders the games at just 960p before upscaling - that's waaay less pixels. So when it upscales it is going to look blurry.
