  1. Why waste the money on this (triplehead2go)? Current video cards have output and support 4 montiors.
  2. I have yet to see a mainstream motherboard use 3 X 16 pci lanes(at the same time). Once you go past two you will need to cut them down to 8. The architecture itself is limited to 64 lanes and you need to keep some open for data i/0 etc. Regardless this is hardly a bottleneck in this situation. You could probably pull a card and see the same if not better performance using 2. Regarding using 3 or 4 video cards. Starting with the pascal series cards (1070, 1080 etc), nvidia is restricting the use of more than 2 cards in sli. The return and complexity of drivers after 2 cards is just not worth it. I wanted to mention this incase anyone was thinking of adding a third or fourth card. It would be a total waste of money and even if it did work in P3D, it wont in anything else such as games. If you are running older 9 series of even 7 series nvidia cards, sure you could theoretically run 3 or 4. But 2X gtx 1080 ti's will beat ANY 3 or 4 card variations. Not to mention vram is not pooled so as you decrease the vram you will start to see stutters.
  3. Anything passed two cards in SLI is no longer supported with Nvidia. You could use 2X1080 in sli but will still be limited by the 8gb vram. If i were you and wanted the best, sell those cards and upgrade to the 1080 ti with 11 gb of vram or wait a month for the new Nvidia cards to be annouced.
  4. is this not how it works? I have 10 times more effort into installing/forums then actual flight 🙂
  5. I pretty much agree with the sentiment on here. I felt burned when skyforce came out. That is not a good sign when your company can now be described as "over hyping while under delivering".
  6. Would kill to see the 747-8 in xplane.
  7. Well im going to say it. I think this is a fantastic idea and have been waiting for something like this for a very long time. The immersion is broken for me because it doesn't matter who, what or where I fly on my own. But this creates a level of responsibility as you are taking something that other people will see and use. And having a dispatch with routing, fuel etc takes that aspect of the work out of it which i dread doing. Yes i know about simbrief, pfpx all the good toys. But IRL, you dont do all of that and I just want to fly the plane and check out the scenery.
  8. Gysnc is probably one of the best technologies to come around in the past decade. It has no effect if your sim is running 30 fps, but for 40-120 fps it has completely eliminated screen tearing and latency.
  9. No thats about it. LUA is a scripting language so when you drop a file into that scripts folder, the compiler see its, compiles and runs. Its no different than any other language like c++, only much simpler.
  10. @w6kd Ok, fair arguments. Apologize for my negativity. Is anyone out there enjoying the aircraft or have some constructive feedback outside of my complaining?
  11. You are comparing apples to oranges. A "high tech company" is a lot different business model then 4 or 5 guys developing software. Listen, im done speaking on the topic. As it stands I do not feel that it is a $70 product and will not be buying. Thats my choice, you all can do what you want. Just understand if you continue to pay these prices, stop complaining about the high cost especially when buying broken software. I have seen it time and time again, the push to get the software out the door, influx of cash and eventually see you later. It happens in all software not just flight sim.
  12. My point was, developers are creating aircraft at the $30 price point and with every release are trying to one up the previous price. This is a general statement and not saying QW should be a $30 aircraft. But yes the crj is a prime example.
  13. I just reinstalled P3d V4.2 in preparation for this aircraft. My daily driver is X-Plane, but this excited me. Just for a bit of background, I am a computer science major and well aware of software development practices. However, releasing this product at a $70 price point is ridiculous. Every single game, whether or not they spent 200 million dollars making it, releases at $60. Here is a specialized product, which i get. But to release a broken product with issues that have been around for months is BAD BUSINESS. As others have mentioned, no software is ever truly finished because software is constantly evolving. But developers trying to follow PMDG lead are mistaken. These prices with the level of quality is not sustainable. I am disappointed with the price points being set for software reaching higher and higher, yet the quality of the products are not necessarily any better. This is a major problem and should be addressed.
  14. Anything from aerobask wont disappoint, i have 4 of their aircraft and they are my daily flyers.
  15. This is a well written review: https://flightdeckx.com/review-terramaxx-by-maxx-xp-in-co-operation-with-sundog-software/
  16. Another overpriced addon from x aviation that will hopefully be replaced by something better.
  17. For the push back tug, I would recommend the freeware plugin Better Pushback. It allows you to preselect the pushback path exactly where you want and it will automatically take over.
  18. Yes @ryanbatcund. Running anything at max ram/vram is going to cause problems. When panning around, your loading in new textures and since your available ram is gone, it has to be switched in. Keep in mind 7.5 of 8 gb should be considered full. There are reserved spots in the memory that cannot be accessed. Also, it may request a memory block larger than any space available.
  19. Ok yeah I guess it's a limitation of xplane then. I have the 4770k over clocked to 4.4 ghz with 16 gb of ram and gtx 1080. I am definitely cpu limited. Btw moving from gtx 450 to a 1060 is not just a x50 series to x60 @kneighbour. It's a 4 generation leap which means it's about 3x more powerful and energy efficient. The gtx 1060 is a good choice for 1080p gaming @anitelite
  20. Right now with current hardware xplane might be more cpu bound? What cpu and speed are you using? Are you using any kinda HD mesh or is it default xplane scenery? There is a 100 different factors that can affect performance.
  21. I probably have the same(Asus swift) or similar monitor and same video card. Those are pretty close to my settings. As long as you keep the sim above the gsync minimum and it looks smooth then you are good to go right? The only thing I can't stand is judder and aliasing and that's whats important to me so that's how I tune.
  22. This is a ridiculous topic Btw. Chances are this won't affect home users as much as data centers. Your computer is not going to come to a screeching halt and this isn't y2k.
