  1. A few comments from Ben that should clarify doubts rised here. ******************* Ben Supnik says: December 11, 2017 at 10:35 am Our porting targets are Vulkan for Windows, Linux and Android, and Metal for iOS and Mac OS X. Apple doesn’t provide a Vulkan stack and based on their investment in their own API, we don’t expect them to. In terms of APIs and porting: – On Windows, we can and do use OpenGL with VR now – we can get stereo hw rendering and use OpenGL to render to the compositor. – On Linux, apparently we have to port Vulkan Metal first – no GL SteamVR integration. I’m taking your word on this, I haven’t investigated for myself. – On OS SX, we have to port to port to Metal first. While we can talk to the compositor in GL or Metal, we can’t do hardware stereo rendering — not even Apple’s ‘core’ drivers support it. Without stereo rendering, the GL-based framerate is unusably slow on even the fastest hardware. We have no plans to port to DX12 – there’s no need since we can get Vulkan there. ******************** Ben Supnik says: December 10, 2017 at 1:37 pm Our focus is shifting to shipping VR – Vulkan after VR. ********************** Ben Supnik says: December 10, 2017 at 8:27 pm Yes, but no. We will surely optimize even more after we release – we never stop tuning the code – but we have to get a HUGE amount of work done before we can show Vulkan at all. Vulkan allows new approaches, particularly in the multi-core area – writing a multi-core GL renderer is possible (see all the AZDO talks) but miserably difficult – the GL threading model is exactly not what you’d want. Vulkan also _requires_ new approaches. In OpenGL you can just mix and match pieces of your graphics pipelines willy-nilly, and the driver will, mid-frame, go “oh, wait, you want that with onions, not garlic, let me re-cook your meal” and build a whole new pipeline. This is lousy for performance in OpenGL, so Vulkan is fast in that the slow thing doesn’t exist. We could do a faster Vulkan port by simply implementing OpenGL on top of Vulkan as a shim layer and running X-Plane, emulating all of the goofy things that GL drivers have to do. We are NOT doing that – doing so would result in an X-Plane that runs at a worse speed than it does now — we’d have all the slow-down from GL non-optimal abstractions, and our code wouldn’t have been tuned by a team of 100+ engineers. Instead we are reshaping X-plane to talk to OpenGL the way a modern card wants to hear – when this is done, Vulkan and Metal will be relatively painless drop-ins. So the work is incrementally released in that X-Plane’s use of GL is becoming “all modern”, but the actual Vulkan switch has to be hit at the end. These ‘modernizations’ are usually good for FPS in their own right. In 11.10 and 11.20 we’re moving X-Plane’s material model from loose constants to constant buffers (dynamically streamed in 11.10, static in 11.20) and it’s good for fps, as one would expect – it’s an abstraction that’s better for X-Plane and better for the driver. It will be better for Vulkan too. *********************** Ben Supnik says: December 10, 2017 at 1:45 pm It’s on-going, but you don’t get to run Vulkan until we are 100% completed. That will be some time next year. *********************
  2. On the 767 you need to go the IPAD general tab and customize the mouse as per your liking, scroolwheel or not, etc. Many options available to use the one that works best for you note: i do now own the A350 but coming from the same dev, should be similar.
  3. https://www.google.com.mx/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjW08OhjufYAhVJZKwKHfgVCjgQjRwIBw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.united-virtual.com%2Fclasses%2Fclass_nav.html&psig=AOvVaw1g6uJAw0sKCq3wRpHMLr8a&ust=1516557246579034 scroll down to the 737 NG "complex" panel MCP section
  4. have you removed wheel chocks from the FMC? if set they will not allow you to remove parking brakes
  5. glad to have helped yeah, glance will make your view rotate 90 degree while holding the button, but the view will be re-centered to its initial position as soon as you release it. I do have 2 buttons assigned myself for left and right glance, very useful for quick view to the sides upon departure, turns and landing without you required to rotate the camera back to the desired position. Pan will make your view rotate into the desired direction while you keep holding and it will stay there. Pan is usefull for rotating the camera in any direction for manipulating forward panel, overhead, pedestal, etc. Another very useful xplane feature for very fast scanning/manipulating the entire cockpit is the mouse camera feature (this also works for any camera interior/exterior) -Simply press and hold right mouse button while you move the mouse around to rotate the camera freely to whatever you want it to point out. You may also combine it with the scroll wheel for zoom in/out. This offers much more freedom that the traditional hat pan. note: if you double clic right button instead of holding it you stay on free camera mode, no button holding required, until you double clic again to rever back. There are much more camera tricks, xplane camera management is extremely powerfull
  6. 1. Last option on the pickdown is Custom, select it and then clic EDIT inmediately below to the right. 2. Once you are on edit mode, type 'fast' on the search bar for real time filtering 3. Select: Rotate view: pan xxx fast (xxx = left, right, etc)
  7. you go to xplane settings (top right corner buttons), then joystick tab, on the hat switch change assignment for every movement to 'fast' option from the pick down.
  8. you have 2 versions for the pane rate. i.e. LEFT -pan left (default) -pan left fast (use this instead) hope this helps
  9. take a look here as said above, you have the orthos and the airport rendition. https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/29476-kavx-catalina-island/
  10. Not final price yet, but it has been said it will be under 100.
  11. Your joystick was probably not added to the list of pre-stablished hardware settings. I assume is coming later. Still you should be able to configure it following this guide. http://www.x-plane.com/kb/joystick-troubleshooting-x-plane-11/ Map one button to: sim / flight controls / trim / pitch trim up Map one button to: sim / flight controls / trim / pitch trim down note: about keys, yes you can go to Keyboard tab as well on the settings and assign those commands said above to the 2 keys of your liking. Each key clic will be the same than each button clic.
  12. Don't hate internet, hate piracy instead! All this sort of controls, online security checks, triple security checks, etc. it all comes from piracy legado and going worst...
  13. have you tried enabling "use vsync" checkbox on the graphics page (bottom left corner)?
  14. My understanding is that vulkan will be adopted on increments, 11.10 will have a bit of it already, but the complete migration process may take a year.
  15. P3D & limited budget = NO GO! I just purchased a powerfull pc for xplane11. Decided to give P3D a try, why not? Purchased P3Dv4 + ORBX Global + PMDG738 (USD 250 in total). Looked absolutely horrible, quite an archaic simulator, felt like i was on my fs2004 days while i was fs user 15 years ago. But if you look at some youtube videos you can make it look much better spending big chunk of money on many addons.
  16. ground shake affect is fixed and coming on 11.10. 11.05 was always expected to be a simple release for updating the airports.
  17. the 737 & the md 80 are on the same category. Medium weight, narrow body (single aisle) jetliner. smal bird is a SAAB340 or a private jet like a citation or a cessna 206. hevy weight is a double aisle wide body jet 767, 777, A380, 747, etc.
  18. you do not change the tug to my understanding. All tugs available have a different aircraft purpose given its size/weight. The plugin should select automatically the right tug depending you are requiring pushback for a small bird, a narrow body jet or a wide body heavy jet.
  19. It is not ATS but Rotate, the announcement is here http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/122623-mcdonnell-douglas-md-11-by-rotate/ they promote this is going to be a full study sim day one. this means all systems, features and modeling as per the real thing. Lets see.. hopefully.
  20. this guy is amazing, v0.23 now includes also a tug for small aircrafts https://github.com/skiselkov/BetterPushbackC/releases/tag/v0.23
  21. i know that feeling see my post here (third on the thread) just a few days ago.
  22. heads up.... Betterpushback v0.18 just released including support for widebody birds via tug AST-1X https://github.com/skiselkov/BetterPushbackC/releases
  23. I am not an experienced ortho4xp user at all, others may come up with a better solution. What i did when this happen to me, was to reselect all the tiles on the map, set all checkbox again on the map and on the main screen and did the whole process again by clicking "batch process" Just the same as if you were starting from scratch. It will not download again, it will just create the overlays missing. Takes a minute or two per tile, quite fast. Just make sure you did not remove the tiles from the tiles directory, or place them back, for the app to know they are already there.
