a small advise for all of you coming onboard the saab 340. When you set the condition levers for take off, move them forward until the MAX detent, do not overshoot them to the end of its travel which is Q/M and you will have no torque for take off and the aircraft will refuse tu climb. hope this helps. this a study level sim, and managing all of its systems properly takes time, reading and practice.

i do agree with all comments here, the saab 340 is the best turboprop for xplane by a large margin, and also one of the best paywares for xplane. my advice would be to install an xplane's add-on or a lua script to pre-program your settings on a per aircraft basis to your liking, so you do not have to touch anything while moving one aircraft to another. i.e. every complex payware uses a custom proprietary dataref for -a/p disc- to mimc its real life counter part. mapping your desired button or key to its custom dataref on a per aircraft basis solves this issue. axis assignment, sensitivities, etc. are also required to be tuned on a per aircraft basis, a C172 flies quite different than a B777. also the C172 has mixture control but on the 777 you may use a second axis for split throttle control (L&R). Rudder tuning is also very important to have a good experience on a per aircraft basis, etc. The CLs can also be pre-assigned so you do not have to re-assign them each flight no matter you switch aircrafts. Only consideration is, if you add or remove hardware from your setup the axis indexes may vary and you will have to update them which takes a second or two.

honestly i do not know if there is a way to reset the FMC like booting it up or something like that. Pilot makes mistakes and you can correct any mistake easily. Why would you like to reset the FMC? -to clear up the route (including sid/star) you simply enter the origin airport again -to change anything on the perf/takeoff profile, you simple override existing value and anything that needs to be recalculated will be recalculated automatically. Why would you like to kind of reset the hardware?

go to RTE and enter your ORIGIN airport again, all route programing will be cleared for you to start over.

If you fly online atc like profesional network pilotedge, having the airac database updated is key because filling flight plans and atc communications will be based on real life, accurate and updated navigation data. if you fly offline i would say once a year is more than enough, you can live with small mismatches time to time choosing an old sid or a different fix/airway. my 2 cents, hope this helps

By default assigned xplane camera buttons will not work unless you disable all their "smart camera" features on their 172 proprietary menu giving camera control back to xplane. No, they closed this port to fix some issues actually. FMC problem (fixed for upcoming b8) The XPLMSetFMSEntryLatLon() function is broken in beta 7. This causes the FMS of all FF757, FF777 and JRollon CRJ to not work, likely also the CIVA addon installed in some 737s and 727s from FlyJSim. It’s fixed for Beta 8.

I am curious about no release note updates yet, Ben used to update them a few hours later. Did only 2 flight so far, noticed horizon artifacts are no longer present on my Nvidia GTX 780M 2013 Imac. Frame rates seems to be the same to me. Ben said they will extend 10.40 beta process because they have decided to include a bunch of more stuff for 10.40 release. Let's see what the release notes and next steps reveal.

yes i do agree there are tons of youtube cockpit videos hand flying during the entire approach from high altitude down to the runway on clear days even on mountainous areas.

this is a class study simm, so it has a learning curve certainly. most common mistake i have seen is on takeoff, advancing condition levers full forwrd to its travel end which is T/M mode, advance the condition levers only to its MAX position (before T/M), do not overshoot MAX position or you will have no power on takeoff for climbing. point the camera view to the condition levers and pull them with your hardware levers or mouse to MAX, each position has a detent, you see it visually like a clic. enjoy this is one of the best aircrafts for xplane

MAX ALT 356 and STEP CLIMB 360 are quite close. Maybe the FMC is predicting by the time you should reach 360 (it will take a few minutes to climb) the aircraft will be lighter enough for 360? Interesting.

@hangar this aircraft is one of the most easy ones for hand flying to me, it feels just right compared to how real aircrafts behave on the air (real ga pilot here, but never on a 340). something i would like to point out, real aircraft yokes have a lot of travel on the pitch and roll, thus they are very linear and progressive for precise input. Desktop yokes/sticks (Saitek or similar) have not enough travel at all on the axis, as such every tiny movement leads into lot of input for the aircraft resulting in a twitchy experience. Having a near real life axis travel yoke is key, otherwise setting joystick sensitivities/augmentation properly is mandatory to compensate.

tested US only, winds change direction and intensity while climbing/descending at different FLs as supposed to be in real life. Very dynamic. Transitions are very smooth, seems XP is interpolating, the aircraft doesn't shake violently as in the past. I only did a few flights yet but liking a lot this improvement.

I have the imac retina 5k fully loaded (32GB, SSD disk, Intel 4Ghz, AMD M295x) to install the beta you need to run the "x-plane installer" provided on the disk, then choose update, then clic search betas imacs runs Mobile GPUs versions, so they are not that powerfull as its counterparts for PCs. Extended dsf is a massive piece of earth to move. It looks just amazing!! But i prefer having tons of houses, roads, extreme resolution, etc. than putting all that down to keep a nice fps for extended range
