  1. Ok i will give it a try. Thank you for the reply.
  2. Hi Guys, I've started having an issue with random crash to desktop and wondered if anyone could help. It all started after i added a few add-ons all at once and now i keep getting an FSX unknown app crash in the event viewer. The add-ons i already had running with no problems was: Active Sky next Aivlasoft EFB (Display unit on a Separate system) PMDG 737 FS2 Crew Aerosoft Airbus X Extended Dublin Mega Airport Ground Services X The add-ons i added all in the same day just before the CTD started: FSUICP (Registered Version) Wide FS UK2000 Leeds Bradford Extreme FTX England smartCARS (Separate system) I know most people are going to say start uninstalling the add-ons which i will but what i did wonder could it be a Duplicate BGL file problem between FTX and UK Extreme? I'm not a whizz kid but its just things I've read in the forums. I've added a couple of screenshots with the duplicate files below. There were numerous more duplicates but i did a dirty shut down of GSX in the scenery library. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My PC spec is as follows: Windows 8.1 64-bit, i7-4770 CPU @ 3.90GHz (8 CPUs), 16gb Ram, 2TB Hard Drive, AMD Radeon R9 270 (2GB)
  3. Even though its ages ago i thought i'd let you have an update......... I found my spiking to be related to the water effects setting, anything above low x 2 caused the graphics to spike a lot and with the low x 2 setting it did it very little if at all even though everything else is set to max. I also installed Rex 4 and FTX Global and have no spiking issues at all now.
  4. In my own experience i can run DX9 on windows 8.1 with only FSX standard aircraft, as soon as i try any add-on aircraft it crashes to desktop so i have to run in DX10 preview but i think this might be only with AMD graphics cards and NVIDIA cards are ok in DX9.
  5. Hey guys, bit of a random one. I have been running FSX on Windows 8.1 fine but the other day i installed FTX England which looks really good but ever since then i have been experiencing random crashes pretty much straight after landing. Just wondered if anyone else had experienced anything similar? I also installed Leeds Bradford extreme from UK2000 on the same day but i disabled that and its still crashing so i'm guessing it has to be FTX. I am also running with DX10 preview as i cant get FSX to run in DX9 with any of my add-on aircraft. In case it helps i run the following add-ons when i'm in FSX: GSX PMDG 737 Aivlasoft EFB SmartCARS Active Sky next REX 4 Aerosoft's Dublin Airport Leeds Bradford Extreme UK2000 FSUIPC (Registered) My system is as follows: Operating System: Windows 8.1 64-bit Processor: Intel® Core i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz overclocked to 3.9GHz Memory: 16GB RAM Memory: 2TB Video Card: AMD Radeon R9 270 (2GB)
  6. Thanks for the reply. I'll have a tweak of my settings later on and I've only made one change to my fsx.cfg file and that was to put the HIGHMEM fix in.
  7. Hi Guys, I'm sure this topic has been covered a thousand times before but i was wondering if anyone has found a 100% fix for the graphics spiking issue with windows 8.1 and FSX running DX10? I have searched a lot into it but there are that many fixes (or supposed fixes) out there i would be here when windows 10 comes out trying them all. My system won't run DX9 at all, soon as i click 'fly now' it just crashes to desktop but i can fly in DX10 mode but just with these horrible spiking issues. I do have both service packs installed for FSX. The problem still occurs with no addons installed. My PC spec is as follows: Windows 8.1 64-bit, i7-4770 CPU @ 3.90GHz (8 CPUs), 16gb Ram, 2TB Hard Drive, AMD Radeon R9 270 (2GB) Any help would be greatly appreciated. https://imageshack.com/i/nrn09cj
