  1. That would be nice too. MSFS clouds look great (a fantastic free addon is Floyds Epic Clouds). However I'm just not getting the sensation like I'm doing Mach 0.84 as I skim a cloud deck during cruise. On an Emirates 777 flight we skimmed just under a high alt cirrus layer and it was awesome as they blasted past.
  2. Looks interesting, I wonder if they will be able to simulate the "clouds whipping past at high speed" effect. We've all experienced this on airlines as we leave the clear sky behind and begin a descent into the crud. They whip past giving a sensation of speed.
  3. Ensure you are testing on a vanilla game with NO mods. Community folder should be empty. in nVidia control panel you can set Global Settings to High Performance nVidia Processor You will find a LOT of forum posts that you can use as a guide - and thats all they are good for because you will have to tweak and play around a lot on your own system to tweak it to find that sweet spot. Heres a good one https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/how-to-graphics-settings-and-performance-guide-su12-update-7-26-2023/132407 It will take some time as you will have to play with the nVidia panel and the game menu settings.
  4. I never said realism shouldn't be aspired to. What I was trying to say is that some gamers get upset because their pretend pixel Airbus isn't right on the money. No ones going to complain if the realism and flight modelling is ramped up to greater standards. But theres no need for some to cry if something is a little off at the moment. These products are constantly being updated. Many of the 3rd party pixel tubes have impressed RW pilots from PMDG to Zibo to ToLiss to JF Fokker 100 etc. So they are already doing something right. Ghost Recon series is a a fun shooter but it will never get the hardcore realism physics of Arma , Ubi will lose a huge part of the player base if they did that.
  5. Really if theres 2 things FS20 and FS24 should copy from X-Plane 12 its that games excellent view & replay system. The FS20 menu UI is a hot clunky mess and feels like wading through quicksand. There is an excellent free 3rd party recorder and replay system. Sky Dolly. Cannot recommend this enough! https://flightsim.to/file/9067/sky-dolly
  6. Absolutely nailed it. Very well said. This is a computer game and yet I see some players (including my housemate with his powerful rig and peripherals) fretting about "flight models" and "realism". I once saw him freeze a YT video taken from a 737-800 flight deck during an approach. He took a screenshot and zoomed into the PFD to compare to his PMDG. After he saw me shaking my head he agreed it was getting out of hand! Just play the thing and enjoy the pixel flights already ๐Ÿ˜… On Reddit some months ago I saw a post where this guy said he has stopped playing MSFS because of the poor flight modeling. Wow yes, remove your enjoyment of this amazing product because your pixel A320 doesn't match the real Toulouse Tube 100% ๐Ÿ˜ฏ The same will apply to all games. The guns in Ghost Recon, the cars in Forza - are they all superbly modeled with accurate ballistics and physics? Of course not. They are games.
  7. I think everyone on this forum is safe in that regard ๐Ÿ˜ƒ The day is coming when such a thing will be the norm - but I doubt our generations will see it. There is much very heavy work to do before handing over 500 to 600 pax to AI and send it across the oceans on a 15 hour jolly. We already have a whiff of what the advanced future will bring - Garmin Autoland. This is the first rung of the ladder. This feature can call ATC, declare emergency, turn to nearest suitable airport, fly the approach & land all by itself whilst telling the people on board whats happening in plain English on the displays. In 1995 if someone had told me this was comin' I'd have been "LOL"
  8. I do the same as you OP. When I find a flight I like on FlightAware I grab the dept-dest scenery and install it using AOL. Using this method I've built a huge collection. However I keep everything enabled all the time. I have about 600GB worth of addons. I could never enable-disable stuff. I want it on all the time and it has no big impact on loading the game. In 180 seconds I'm at the map screen. Yes, not fast I know but even if that increases it wont bother me as I know I will not have to exit the game and re-enable a part of the world I had switched off in AOL. That would be a PITA for me. AOL is perhaps one of THE champion apps for this game. I just cannot imagine life without it. Finding stuff in the custom Community is so easy now thanks to being able to organize addons by folder. The author is a hero and also extremely helpful on the forums if you need help. I encourage fellow gamers to make sure they backup their Addons! Dont wanna lose them in case theres a SSD or HD burp.
  9. I would pay for this, I hope a clever modder out there will give us back the "classic" FS controls that worked so well (like in FSX). The cam view system in FS20 is a festering fly ridden mess.
  10. I like how it looks even though it doesn't feel the most user friendly with its WOT but I guess thats how it is IRL (?). But dont like it as much as LNM which I find happier.
  11. +1 for LNM, I'm a huge fan of it. I did look at SB and didn't like it although I do appreciate the realism of its plans, specially for gamers who like flying the tubes following RW procedures. The generated flight plans from SB have a kind of old skool feel to them like from an old printer, I liked it! LNM is amazing, have to pinch yourself to realize its free.
  12. I had already excluded the folder but did not do the Prefer Maximum Performance option, good tip thanks! Will test it out and see how it goes. Oh and I dont have GSX. This stuttering and freezing is something very recent. It was all good until around May or June then it began.
  13. I'm seeing these constantly now. They are guaranteed to occur. I ran GPU-Z during gameplay and watched the GPU load real time graph. When a freeze occurred its like the GPU went to sleep for a second and then woke up again. A gap appears in the GPU-load readout graph. I forgot to take a screenshot but I'll try to illustrate using another game I play regularly as an example to compare with. GPU Load Graph during gameplay Ghost Recon Wildlands IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII MSFS IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII Be aware the freezes are not this often but I'm just using the above it to illustrate what it shows over time during a flight. The worst freezes happen during the final approach and landing flare. I go from 50FPS to 1FPS and it lasts about 1.5 sec. Enough to totally ruin a landing. What have they done. I was not seeing any of this in previous updates. My Spec Intel Core i7 4790K @ 4.00GHz 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 666MHz NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12GB Win10 Pro
  14. This is an interesting discussion and shows how there are such different play styles in this game. For those on here who only stay on the flight deck I am reminded of some FSX planes that cleverly came in 2 versions. One was a flightdeck only-version with no visual model at all (from inside). The other was a full on option with the cabin, wingviews the whole hog. This I think was a great thing and kept both kinds of virtual flyer happy. I do realize this would mean more work for devs so I guess thats why we dont see it anymore. // I like liveries because for me it increases the immersion for the country I am flying in. I fly a lot in Indonesia for example and its nice to zap over to the wingview and see the green CitiLink A320neo winglet - just like it is IRL - as I do real world hops around the islands. After I land and park its nice to drone outside and take in the scene of the service trucks and baggage loaders rolling in, the passenger stairs being wheeled up and the plane is in the exact paint job as its IRL counterpart. Sure I can do the same with the default Airbus House colors but it wont feel the same. It will feel like im on a sales tour of Asia with the prototype. I only use default when I just cannot find a livery. For gamers like me sitting at a desk flying a pixel plane pretending to be an A320 captain I'll take anything that can ramp up the feel and vibe of the airline environment and liveries help, we are visual creatures ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
  15. I have stopped using XP12 (reluctantly) because of this issue. Its a cartoon darkening effect thats spoiling the experience for me. As others have pointed out even real world airline pilots have chipped in saying its not like that IRL on the flight deck - like flightdeck2sim. The fact that Laminar are working on fixing it shows that its a bloop bloop and it needs to go. I read that this will NOT be dealt with in the next update but we can hope it comes this year.
  16. Ahh ok , got it. The custom views have been set and I'll set numpad to load them. Thanks!
  17. Oh wait, I was not doing this. I was retrieving with ALT + Top row # Will go start up the game and try again using numpad to go back to the view. I had missed that part.
  18. Thank you all for your help! Unfortunately a bit of a road block... CTRL+ALT+top row # works initially - but it does not stick. The key forgets the view I told it to remember after about a minute ๐Ÿ˜ž Example of problem: I bound CTRL+ALT+TOP ROW 9 = a center console cam view on the A320 I press ALT+TOP ROW 9 and the camera moves to the center console cam view ๐Ÿ‘ However about a minute or two later while flying when I go back to ALT+TOP ROW 9 its forgotten my view. Instead the cam is facing the windscreen from the captains seat. Now for SURE its something I am screwing up because I can see none of you on Avsim are seeing such issues. I'll reset all the key bindings from the menu maybe!
  19. I find it an extremely clunky laggy design. The hallmark of a good site is that when you land there for the first time you intuitively know where to go , how to navigate, how to search, the categories are neatly laid out. This redesign is like someone emptied a sack of rice on the floor. Stuff all over the place. On another note Theres one thing I always wished for that was not there in the old design either. In the liveries description there should be a mandatory field for the uploader to select from two choices: Real world Fictional The site should then allow us to apply filters like: Show all Show real world only Show fictional only
  20. Ok thanks Im back on the game now and will do that and see if it works for me.
