  1. Hello Simmers,

I am planning a new build with limited budget around 1600€....

Wich you do you choose and why?

All new build from my usual store:

    • INTELCORE i5 9600K
    • NOCTUA NHD15 S 140MM
    • MSI Z390 TOMAHAWK
    • 4X CORSAIR VENGENACE LPX 8GB 3000MHZ DDR4
    • CRUCIAL BX500 240GB
    • MSI RTX2070 ARMOR 8GB
    • COOLERMASTER MWE 650W 80+ GOLD FULL MODULAR
    • COOLER MASTER MASTERCASE H500 RGB
    • AOC 3279VWFD8

    TOTAL COST: 1670€

Now the build with 2nd hand produtcs and some new:

    • INTEL I5 9600K (NEW)
    • ASUS TUF Z390-PRO GAMING (NEW)
    • Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2400 PC4-19200 32GB 2x16GB (NEW)
    • Asus GeForce GTX 1080TI STRIX O11G (2ND HAND)
    • Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 750W Full Modular (2ND HAND)
    • Phanteks P400S Black (2ND HAND)
    • SSD Blueray M7B 240GB 563/511MBPS sata3 3D NAND TLC (2ND HAND)
    • NOCTUA NH-D15S (NEW)
    • AOC Q3279VWF8 (NEW)

NOTE: I have an SSD 500GB right now that i will use it.

    TOTAL COST: 1495€

Around 175€ less the 2nd hand build. I made this build almost because the GPU.

Another chance is to use the all new build and buy only the used GPU and i will have a total cost of 1586€.

    Wich one do you choose?

Is the GTX1080TI a little bit old or can we say that is "perfect" to our sim (Xplane and P3D)?

The RTX2070 being a new card in the market do a job better?

Another question. The AOC monitor is a 32" 2560x1440, i would love to use a triple monitor but that will blow the budget. The only option is 3 ASUS VZ249HE (1920x1080 each) and it will cost me in all of the 3 builds something around 150€ more, but a resolution of 5760x1080.

Worth this extra money? Double monitor is a little bit stupid or we have many simmer using this type of "setup"?

    Hope you can help me.

    Best regards to you all...

    Ricardo

  2. Hello people,

Let me introduce first.  My name is Ricardo and i live in Portugal.

Beeing an huge fan of Simulator, since the old Fs2002 🙂 but not a great pilot, i like to spend some of my free time fliying and learn a little bit more.

Right now i have a laptop ( HP Omen i7 7700 HQ and GTX1060 MaxQ) but i would like to make a change for a desktop machine, and of course, i have many doubts. Here is the machine that i am planning:

    INTEL I5 9600K - 250,90€
    MSI MPG Z390 GAMING PLUS - 139,90€
    Gigabyte GTX1660 Ti Gaming OC 6GB   - 327,90€
    Crucial 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR4 3000MHz Ballistix Tactical Tracer RGB - 103,90€
    CoolerMaster Masterwatt 650W Gold - 79,90€
    CoolerMaster MasterLiquid ML120L - 56,90€
    CoolerMaster MasterBox 5 Pro - 75,90€
    Crucial MX500 M.2 2280 500GB - 75,90€
    Corsair K55 RGB - 55,90€
    AOC C32G1 Curved - 299,90€

    Total Cost: 1461,00€

    Doubts:

    1) Is this machine well balanced for P3D V4 and/or X Plane 11?

    2) In your opinion what change you made to this machine? i am limited to around 1500€ right now.

    3) The 1660TI will "handle" in the future 2 more AOC C32G1?

    Best regards,

    CPU: I5 9600K - 250,90€

MBO: Gigabyte Z390 Gaming SLI 158,00€

    GPU: Gigabyte GTX1660TI GamingOC 6GB 310,00€

RAM: Crucial Ballistix Tactical 2x8GB 3000MHZ RGB 104,00€

PSU: CoolerMaster MasterWatt 650W Gold full Modular 75,00€

COOLER: CoolerMaster MasterLiquid ML120L RGB 49,00€

CASE: CoolerMaster MasterBox 5 Pro RGB 66,00€

    SSD1: Crucial MX500 500GB ( owned )

    SSD2: Gigabyte 120GB ( OS only ) 20,00€

    HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200rpm 34,00€

    Total Cost around 1067,00€

At this point, i think that all components are compatible and the build is well balanced, of corse it could be better but it will cost me a lot more money 🙂

    Now my doubts:

    - 34 inch monitor ou 3 25 inch monitor? What will give me a better experince? i don't have trackIR.

For the 34 inch monitor i have some used options, like this:

    - LG 34UC79G 350,00€

    - AOC 3477PQU 400,00€

    - LG 34UM88 525,00€

Maybe i can star with a 34inch right now then put 2 extras monitor with the same height sizer but not ultrawide on each side of the ultrawide, it will be a good option?

For the 25 inch monitor i want some frameless monitor but not expensive ( very dificult in Portugal  🙂 ). What about these model?

    - AOC 2590VXQ ? I saw some videos and some pictures and this model seem to be a borderless. This option is more expensive for now that the 2 first 34 incho option, but if in the 34 inch option i add the other 2 monitors it will cost more than this one.

Let read your options or giving me some other combinations for the monitors

    Best regards,

  4. Hello guys,

I need some help and advices.

I need to buy a new laptop (it has to be laptop), and i'm in doubt about 2 models:

    - MSI GS40 - i7 6700HQ and GTX970M 3GB

    or

    - MSI GS43VR - i7 6700HQ and GTX 1060 6GB

The GS43Vr model is 400€ more expensive and my big question is:

GS43VR worth 400€ more? Or in another words, i will have a great benefit in FSX/FSX:SE/P3D buying GS43VR instead of GS40?

    Regards

    Ricardo

  5. Next month i'm finally getting my new build.

It will be something like this:

    Intel i7 6700k

    CM Hyper 212x

    Asus Z170-P

    2x Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB 2400Mhz

    MSI Geforce GTX 1070 Armor 8GB DDR5

    2x SSD Crucial MX200 480GB SATA

    HDD Seagate 2TB 7200

    PS Corsair RM650x Modular

    NZXT S340 Black/Red

    Total Cost is about 1580€.

Then i have Saitek Thino X55F and Saitek Rudder Paddels.

For now i will connect it to my Philips 50" FHD Tv. Later i pretend do connect it to 3 monitors.

    What do you think?

    Regards

  6. You may find it easier to OC 16GB DDR4 and find stability.  Unless you plan to do video editing there will be not much benefit to 32GB over 16GB ... 16GB is about the minimum.

I'm a strong believer in quad channel setups myself, not a big fan of the 6700k as it has a small cache (8MB) and has integrated graphics which is wasted/not used.

    Is the Philips 50" a 4k monitor?

    Cheers, Rob.

Rob, i will go for 16gb. Later if i need more i'll do an upgrade.

    The Phillips 50" ins't 4k, only FHD.

    Cheers,

  7. Hi guys,

This will be my final config.

    Intel i7 6700k

CM Hyper 212 Evo (offer with Mobo)

    MSI Z170A Krait Game

    4x8GB Kingston DDR4 2400Mhz HyperX Fury Black

SSD OCZ Trion 240GB Sata III

SSD OCZ Trion 240GB Sata III

    HDD Seagate Barracuda 2TB

PSU XFX XTR 650W Modular 80+ Gold

    EVGA GeForce GTX970 SC ACX2.0 4GB DDR5

    CM Mastercase Pro 5

    Final price almost 1600€

32GB of Ram ins't too much?

All this system will be conected to a Philips LED 50" and i have Saytek X55 and rudder pedals! :)

    Regards

  8. Guys, you ara fantastic. Thanks for every tip.

I will make a stupi question (i think). I have in my living room a 50" Philips LED FullHD and i'm thinling to buy a new 55 or 60". Can i use this LED and conect it to the new computer? FSX or Prepar3d will have any problema with this Philips?

I don't know the correct model, i'm away of my country because i work in Angola, but i'm sure that it's a LED FullHD.

    Regards,

    Ricardo

  9. Hello again! Thank you all for your advices.

I think i have the final configuration. I don't buy any monitor for now, i have an LG 24" IPS LED at home, and i want to build multi-monitor (3 max). So i will keep that LG for now and later i upgrade with time for the 3 monitors.

    Final configuration:

    - CPU: intel i7 6700k - 379€

    - Mobo: Asus Z170 Pro Gameing - 146€

    - RAM: Gskill RipjawsV DDR4 2800 (2x8GB) - 83,95€

    - GPU: Asus GeForce GTX970 Strix OC 4GB DDR5 - 369€

    - MidTower: Corsair Carbide 100R Silent Edition - 58,70€

    - Power Supply: Seasonic M12II 620W Evo 80+ - 96,95€

    - SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB Sata3 - 152€

    - HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200rpm - 62,95€

    - DVDRW: Asus DVDRW 24x - 12,95€

    Total price near 1400€.

It's missing the cooler. What do you recommend?

  10. Hello to everyone.

I'm going to buy my new computer exclusive for FSX and Prepar3d.

So, i read a lot, in a Portuguese Forum and heres in AvSim.

I would like to know what's your opinion about this:

    - CPU: intel i7 6700k - 379€

    - Mobo: Msi Z170A Pro Gamer - 150€

    - RAM: Gskill RipjawsV DDR4 2800 (2x8GB) - 83,95€

    - GPU: Gigabyte GTX970 Windforce 3x 4GB DDR5 - 339€

    - MidTower: Corsair Carbide 100R Silent Edition - 58,70€

    - Power Supply: Seasonic M12II 620W Evo 80+ - 96,95€

    - SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB Sata3 - 152€

    - HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200rpm - 62,95€

    - DVDRW: Asus DVDRW 24x - 12,95€

    - Monitor: Dell S2715H 27" LED - 279€

It costs aprox. 1630€. I have a budget of 1800€.

    I have some doubts:

1st: Buying GTX980 6GB instead GTX970 i will have more fps in the FSX?

2nd:i7 6700k with Z170 Mobo or 4790k with z97 Mobo? I will not going to overclock it for now.

    Thanks to all of you.

    Ricardo Carpinteiro
