Being in a creative mood this weekend I went to Joann's Fabrics and picked up some black and white digital camo fabric for under $7 and pulled my wife's sowing machine out of the garage. I created some dust covers for my Warthog Hotas joystick, throttle and the pedals which I created in the above post. First time I have done any sewing since I was about 10 years old! Now I do not have to worry about keeping the equipment clean and free of pet hair etc.

So I figured I would make something to secure my MFG Crosswind pedals to prevent slipping and make them more sturdy. I went to Home Depot and spent less than $9 on parts. - 48" piece of MDF (had store cut to 20" wide) - Piece of 2 ft 1/2" PVC pipe - Piece of foam pipe insulation I wanted a slight incline to the pedals so I created a foam/ pvc structure to raise the back of the base. The foam makes the structure more floor/ wall friendly as it does not scratch. I used PVC inside the foam to make it more rigid and prevent the foam from compressing under the weight. I started with cutting the pvc and foam to length. I applied glue to the pvc pipe and inserted into the foam to make a kind of industrial corn dog. I then drilled and screwed the pvc/ foam piece along the back of the wood base with 5 screws. I cut another piece of foam with a notch along the length and slipped along the bottom edge of the base. I glued this in place also. I didn't see the need to paint it as it is under the desk. But it could easily be painted before you apply the pedals. I then secured the pedals onto the base using 4 screws through the holes already on the base of the pedals. Not only was it cheap, the whole thing took less than 20 minutes to make and is way more secure. It does not move around/ or tip to the side. This design can be used for other types of pedals. Thought I would share.

Richmond Airport (KRIC) scenery now for P3D in the library

Looks great, thanks. Only issue I saw was a cop car on the roof of the terminal building.... -
HDMI 2.0 for 4k. I recently got a 4k TV myself and there was a huge difference in picture quality between using an older HDMI 1.0 cable and a HDMI 2.0 cable. You shouldn't need much set up. Just plug it in and your computer should update the resolution automatically. I recommend googling your "TV model number" along with "PC". You should find a bunch of links from people using the TV for PC gaming with associated settings. My eyes were a little strained for the first couple of days looking at such a big screen close up, now my eyes are used to it and no issues.

Any updates from people who have these pedals? I am interested in getting the Warthog HOTAS and they have a deal right now where these TFRP pedals are free with the joystick and throttle. I recently got the MFG Crosswind pedals - still in box not yet to be opened. I am thinking I can pretty much get the Warthog HOTAS and the Thrustmaster pedals for the price of just the MFG pedals. Obviously I know the quality will not be anything like the MFG, but if they work well for the average flight simmer I might as well save some $$$.

I can not find it in the library - is KRIC in the title?

I recommend this mount for your 40" Samsung. Cheap and works great. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000WYVBR0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I just got my HDMI 2 cable. Wow there is a big improvement in the quality from using an HDMI 1. Also I installed the Ultimate Realism Shader Pack and the sim looks great.

Nice. I just picked up Southampton in the ORBX sale, it is a nice little airport.

I received my Samsung TV this morning, super-fast from Newegg! I hooked it up (albeit with an HDMI 1 as my HDMI 2 cable is still in the mail) and had a quick go with P3D. It looked really good with no real change in performance. I will give it a proper test once I have the proper HDMI 2 cable and can add the HDR on etc. I read that some people change the resolution to make it 21:9. Does anyone do this?

I think X-Plane is still another 2 years away from taking the lead. I have seen a strong focus on attracting the airliner crowd from their marketing materials. I guess if P3D remains 32 bit then at some point X-Plane will naturally take over as long as it continues to be developed.

Just picked up Southampton airport, perfect to go with my newly acquired Dash 8 pro and Flybe liveries which I recently downloaded from the AVSIM library.

Interesting thread. I too am looking to upgrade from a 24" have been trolling the sales online all day. I have been going backwards and forwards between a 27" and 34". Now the Samsung UN40KU6290 sounds interesting (although a lot bigger than I need or really have room for). Is there anything to consider with going with a 4K TV as opposed to a monitor? I typically sit about 2 feet away from the monitor, do I need to sit further back with a TV? EDIT: Read online that not TV's do not have CRT there is no health concerns with being close. Just eye strain which can be rectified with a good nights sleep.
