You may just be exceeding what your CPU/GPU can handle..

Try lowering settings, rather than "settings to the max"

Here is what I use (remove your tweaks first..)

    World
    LOD radius:  high
    Tesselation factor: high
    mesh resolution:  5m
    texture resolution:  1m
    high resolution terrain: on

    Scenery complexity: extremely dense
    autogen draw distance:  medium
    autogen vegetation density: normal
    autogen building density: dense
    Dynamic vegetation: unticked

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, these settings did not work for me. This whole "blurriness" issue might just be me comparing my sim too much to others, without realising the problem really isn't too bad.

Good AA costs performance. MSAA looks like a basic AA solution. At least that's what I think since I had the same results as you.
Then I found a NI AA settings sheet but indeed, it killed frames.
Now I went with 4xSSAA in P3D only. I don't know if your 1060 can handle it but maybe you can give it a try.

Thanks for the reply. I tried 4xSSAA and sure enough it makes the text 95% more readable! I still have to test performance in clouds (I fly a lot in the UK so that won't be too difficult 😉

The only issue with it so far I have noticed is that when using dynamic lights, it introduces input lag. I don't use dynamic lights, but the way the 787 is programmed - even with dynamic lighting off, it still performs as if it is on.

But as you say, good AA costs performance.

    Thank you!

When you zoom the terrain won't be as sharp as if it were a normal cockpit view.  Also try removing the FFTF tweak.  Without it in there it defaults to .33.  Anything lower might lead to blurries.

    Thanks for the reply.

The issue still seems to occur without the FFTF tweak.

I only zoomed in to make the issue more visible in a screenshot, even when I am flying at regular zoom in VC, textures appear blurry abnormally close - even though they load perfectly right under me.

  4. I have noticed the AA in my P3D is fairly terrible. I run 8xMSAA in sim and nothing in the inspector. I notice, watching flight sim streamers, that when they have 8xMSAA set their flight decks look amazing and actually readable. Mine, however, is something else:

    hcyFP0w.jpg

I can barely read the text, and even looking in the distance, my night lights flicker and in the day my trees/buildings flicker too.

The only fix I have found for this so far has been to enable 4x SGSS in NI, but that just kills performance in clouds.

    My Specs:

    i5 7500 @ 3.4GHz, GTX 1060 6GB, 8GB DDR4, Sim installed on secondary 1TB HDD.

    Thank you,

    Luke.

  5. Hi,

    Getting straight to the point:

I get blurries in the distance with FTX Global, I can put my terrain settings to max and I still get these issues! I've tried adding TextureMaxLoad=9, TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=9 and FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.18 all to the CFG to no avail. Nothing works. I'll attach a picture:

    NRbNpCX.jpg

At EGPF on parking 51, barely zoomed in. Only 4 or 6x.

EDIT: I need to add, I have not only reinstalled the sim countless times, but also windows about 2 or 3 times. This isn't an issue that just started randomly, it's happened ever since I got P3D.

    My Specs:

    i5 7500 @ 3.4GHz, GTX 1060 6GB, 8GB DDR4, Sim installed on secondary 1TB HDD.

    Many thanks!

    Luke.

  6. Hi,

I purchased PTA today for P3D V4 and have had to lower my settings in order to gain good frames.

The settings I have now look fine and perform fine, but when at altitude - the cloud shadows do reduce performance by 5-10fps. I could easily live with this; but I do feel as if I am not getting the best out of my sim, as I used to run higher settings with higher performance.

If anyone cares to share some settings within PTA (or even the sim itself) which are culprits of reducing performance, it would be greatly appreciated.

P.S - I use Pilot Pete's (he made a youtube video on PTA/Reshade/URP settings) PTA preset - and he has a much better system than me, so possibly I just need to try a completely different preset.

    (My specs are: i5 7500, GTX 1060 6GB, 8GB RAM, Win 10)

    Thanks,

    Luke.
