  1. I spend more time reading posts on the various forums than actually flying in the sim. One thing that mystifies me is that a lot of really good stuff is over on the flightsim.to website to download but very few people post on the flightsim.to forums. Anyone know why?
  2. Bristol Type 170 Superfreighter Mk 32. That would really give my butt kicker a work out! 😀
  3. Is there another C130 available for MSFS? I do not know, but if I loved that plane and this was the only choice then I might buy it. I like flying in external view checking out scenery and do not care about cockpits or soap dispensers in virtual aircraft bathrooms. I have simmed for many years too. I also think CS have described the product accurately and have mislead no one. So give them a break. No one is forcing anyone to buy anything.
  4. I migrated to Australia in one of those Comets in 1965. I was 13. I think it was a 4C but do not remember. It was BOAC though. Cairo, Karachi, Kuala Lumpur, Darwin then Sydney. One of the first in our family tribe to fly we all wore our Sunday best for the 30 hour flight. Not a good idea when my 3 year old sister threw up all over my mother 2 hours out. No one thought to take a change of clothes of course.
  5. This Puck looks like a good investment for the desktop gamer. Thanks for posting.
  6. Look on thr bright side, at least no one has mentioned Cymouse!
  7. If this helps. I have a fairly low end AMD Ryzen 5 laptop with dual video csrds (2 gb onboard and 3 gb Nvidia) and I use TrackIR. Zero noticeable effect when using it against not using it.
  8. I just flew west to east and it was really good. Although I see some sunken ships in the lakes on my rig. I did a transit on the Celebrity Infinity back in 2007 from west to east. For some obscure reason they decided that tours of Panama City would run from Cristobel Colon on the eastern end! After a really long and bumpy ride over awful roads we arrived at Panama City in pitch darkness which was great for a sight seeing tour. Got back to the ship five hours late and we were so glad it was a ship organised tour otherwise we would have been stranded. The locks were really interesting. Must go back one day and check out the new ones.
  9. FrankPilot there is absolutely nothing wrong with you. 🙂 The roar of planes flying low overhead is a real rush. I remember seeing a movie a few years back where a little boy is running along and a Japanese fighter flies low over his head. The sound almost rocked the cinema seats! I cannot recall the name of the movie it might have been the last Emperor.
  10. I bought it and will try it out shortly but the money laundering thing is interesting. 😀
  11. All is well with the world. My cat is asleep on our bed and in another 19 hours his beauty sleep should be complete and my dog is out the back. I have taken him for his walk before it gets too hot and I always walk towards the city from my house in Parafield Gardens (next to Parafield Airport). If you were to take off from one of the East/West runways towards the West you would see a Soccer/Cricket ground in front of you. It is ringed with trees and the Club House is on the Western or far side of the ground. I do a circuit of this before heading for home. This morning as they often do the trainee pilots were practising their touch and go circuits using these runways and they were coming in from the West to do so. It is glorious to see and hear them passing so low overhead and this morning as an added treat one of the planes in the circuit was one of those Air Tractor things. They sound totally different than the usual Katana/TB/Cessna trainers and it was a real delight to hear. Is there any plane in MSFS that sounds like them?
  12. Hi Crimplene, thanks for the invite to Discord but I do not really do social media. I looked through posts on Photogrammetry yesterday and I no longer think my tree issue is fixable at user level. So I am happy to wait until am update comes out in the future.

      crimplene

You are welcome, even if I am quite sure that I did not invite you to discord. 🙂

  13. Thank you for that. It was as I feared. 🙂
  14. Thank you for your responses. Well I have been messing around with all sorts of things today. First I went through and edited every min and max line in the 10-asobo-species xml file and that did nothing. I next uninstalled WU7 - no change. Played with Accusim Seasons that I bought yesterday and no difference in tree height. Messed with the Google map replacement and no joy there either. Turned off Photogrammetry and bingo - perfect trees but all the buildings have gone to unrecognisable. It seems to me now to be a choice. If you have Photogrammetry turned on then the buildings are really great, if you turn it off then the trees are great but you cannot have both. I did not know if it is my rig that maybe is doing it or if others are experiencing the same thing so it was good to hear from reignman40. I have an AMD Ryzen 5 with 8gb of RAM, 2 Graphic cards, one is a 2gb Radeon Vega, the other a 3 GB Nvidia card. Maybe 5gb of video power is not enough for this game?
  15. Hi All, I am looking for a bit of assistance please. I know this has been bought up before and there are a couple of tree mods in flightsim.to but .... I tried using them and the trees around my local airport are still totally overwhelming. I even bought the Accusim Seasons software yesterday and set it to 75% tree height but to me it is still not enough reduction in tree height. So .... Does anyone know what lines in the 10-asobo-species xml file need to be changed to get a smaller tree in Australia please? At this point I do not know which category Aussie trees even fall under to fiddle with the number myself. I do not think they are connifers. If I can crack this then I figure I will have my local version of the file that I can swap out for the original when I want to do some flying around home.
  16. Yes thanks crimplene. I just tried it and the ground image was different enough to cause a little disorientation. You are right in that the trees are still way too big and dense compared with a google maps image. I just wish there was a scaling utility for the trees.
  17. A pre try comment from me. I am going to try this because MSFS messes up my area with way too many huge trees. Google Maps looks far better to me so ..... (fingers crossed)

    Geo-FS

A few years back Google Earth was the bees knees. Anyone remember that? Anyway, they had a flight simulator of sorts that they never really developed. As I am an avid virtual tourist I thought you might be interested in this. It has been out for a couple of years now. This is no way any sort of competitor for MSFS a crowd called Geo-FS have taken over the reins from Google Earth Flight Sim and you can get a fly anywhere in the world sim on your phone through Google Playstore or the equivalent Apple source. If you subscribe for HD you also get HD, and the images are from Bing. I have not seen any 3D buildings but the ground elevation is right and I can just about make out my house from a couple of thousand feet up. So if you are looking for something to let you go to places you cannot go to these days and use your phone or tablet to do it with .....
  19. Thanks for those interesting links Harry. The Blackburn Kangaroo does not look structurally sound. Too long and flimsy. 🙂
  20. A lot of Aussies will not drive on country roads at dawn or dusk because the Kangaroos seem to like to use the roads too at that time. They can cause a heck of a lot of damage to a fast moving vehicle and occupants. I do not know if any planes have hit them but if they have I imagine it would not be pretty.
  21. I like the reshade idea. Now .... if only there was a utility called treeshade to get rid of those pesky trees!
  22. Ok I just bought it too. Worth the cost to see Skippy.
  23. For those where length is a problem I have a laptop connected to my TV in the lounge and the joystick lead is just too short to connect to it when I sit in my arm chair. I thought about wireless controllers and the Freedom joystick (I had one back in the day) but in the end I got a USB cable extension from an electronics store. I can now play games in total comfort without repositioning the laptop etc.
  24. Probably a dumb question but which Aussie airports feature animals after update 7?
