simbrief flight plan puts me on runway
roadrabbit149 replied to BillStewart's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
Its 14 months later and the problem still exists! I am trying to enter a Simbrief f/plan into the BS Beech Baron BE58. If I accept the runway that MSFS selects then the flight plan sometimes loads, sometimes not (but with engines running etc in either case). If I select a parking stand from the drop-down menu, then select ‘Fly’, it does not load the flight plan - even though it was clearly displayed in detail on the route menu ribbon near top of the World Map page, and on the map itself, prior to clicking ‘Fly’. I have tried nearly all the suggestions and am very frustrated! -
Possibly. Right now unable any Canadian metar info via vPilot. All available via ActiveSky.
-
Simple problem: when on P3Dv5, requesting the metar for Gander (CYQX) vPilot returns the message: "Network error: No such weather profile" Really?
-
I have managed to get ActiveSky working on my PMDG B747-400 😁 Up until now I had been trying (as I had always been able to do) to select the weather theme I wanted (ActiveSky Live weather) into my selected aircraft as per the second splash screen described above. I had not proceeded past this screen trying to find out what was going wrong. However, this time I allowed the aircraft to load fully at EGLL on stand. Then I selected the <World> tab and the Weather link from the drop-down. Guess what? The ActiveSky Weather Theme option then appeared on the resulting Weather screen. It seems it has been moved. The good news is that it is now working as intended. Thanks for all the help and enjoy your flight to KJFK. John

Sorry Ray, I wasn't clear - that was not a sequence I was referring to, it was the second 'splash screen' within P3Dv5 where you select your aircraft, start position, weather input and time/season. When it was working, I got the option from this window's weather drop-down menu of selecting the weather source. The option "ActiveSky Weather Theme" which used to appear here, when selected, gave me whatever I had set up within ActiveSky. It is this option that no longer appears in the drop-down menu. The only options are some generic P3D weathers plus 8 Orbx generic weathers. From this I deduce that ActiveSky is actually NOT fully connecting to Prepar3Dv5 despite the status message saying that it is connected.

When you say "Move my aircraft to another airport" I have done this using the Prepar3D 'splash screen'. Nothing happens on the ASP3D window status area. Switching to "'Historical weather" I do get the 'Downloading' message, and also when I switch back to "Live Weather". I still do not get an "ActiveSky" option on the <Weather> drop-down menu on the <Vehicle - Location - Weather - Time and Season> options screen. Appreciate your assistance 🙂

Hi Ray, After a complete uninstall/re-install I got ASP3D running and displaying the Command screen. I noted your advice regarding ActiveSkyUtils.exe and, via TaskManager>Details, had closed it down before launch. The problem now is that P3Dv5 is not fully recognising ActiveSky! The status window at top left of the ASP3D Command window shows "Prepar3D v5 Connected!" in green, but also shows "Idle", and ActiveSky is not offered as a choice in the PMDG set-up screen.

Fenix A320 - ECAM F/CTL L SIDESTICK FAULT
roadrabbit149 replied to Echoes's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
I use a Thrustmaster 1600M sidestick controller, and I get the identical problem. I have tried all the suggested fixes but eventually the problem returns. No problem occurs with the FSLabs A320on P3Dv5 though - it's just on the Fenix A320.. -
I have a different problem to the server down issue. When I try and start ActiveSky I get message "Existing Session: There is already an existing session. Do you want to disconnect the other device?". Before doing anything I check Task Manager via Ctl-Alt-Del, and under 'Processes -> APPS I can see <ActiveSky P3D (3)> displayed. I then click on the 'EXisting Session' message above on <YES> to disconnect. This closes the ActiveSky <Start> message and also the entry in <Task Manager> If I now try and restart ActveSky I get the same "Existing Session" message all over again. I am just going round in circles. I have tried re-installing ActiveSky and ActiveSky Connector several times, but with no success. Any help much appreciated.

Study Level Default Aircraft
roadrabbit149 replied to Krakin's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
I help out with a Vatsim ATO. We have been looking at the P4/ATPL Vatsim rating. Here are some of the questions we have raised: 1. Is there a market for it? I suspect it's very small. 2. Is there a suitable aircraft for it? No free aircraft appears suitable on any platform. Would prospective students be prepared to pay upwards of $60 for a payware model? 3. What should the course include? The Vatsim P4 MCS document is hardly different to the P3 MCS document. PTD themselves want more, but can't agree on content! 4. Could the course require a minimum number of hours flying with a virtual airline? 5. Who would teach it? From all the previous discussion I see a further problem:why should any developer put time and money into creating a suitable airframe for this course, when as soon as it s released the platform dvelopers declare their current platform obsolete as they launch their new platform (thinking MSFS2020 changing into MSFS2024)? PS: A suitable airframe would be one with an array of systems failures actionable by the instructor using shared cockpit software. -
In cruise for 4 hours from EGLL to KIAD the 'total' sound drops off significantly. Prior to this the 'total sound' level is at the preset level, and when I select another Window the environmental sounds drop off. When the P3D window is reselected, the soundincreases back to preset level. After 4 hours approximately the overallsound level drops off to the lower level and will not return to preset. When I select the drop-down menu OPTIONS --> GENERAL, the sound jumps back up to the previous higher level. As soon as I come out of the drop-down menu the overall sund level dropsagain. Wha'sgoing on?

Title says it all, really. When shutting the engines down at any time the gauges all show decreasing RPMs, lowering oil pressure, etc, etc. However the engine sound continues, and any app dependent on engine shut-down fails to action. Any practical advice appreciated.

I was recently plagued with the above crash (cause found by using Fortect) to Black Screen of Death with cooling fans running at max speed. The guidance and hints in most forums did not help. However the problem has been solved and I would like to share my experience. The problem started whilst running Prepar3Dv5.4.9 together with PMDG's B777 aircraft. So I started with that as baseline. Here are the steps I took with the results recorded for each step: 1. I ran the computer with no main apps running at all - so no P3D and no PMDG. The computer ran perfectly for 12 hours. 2. I did a comparison run with MSFS2020 running - again no failures at all after 7.5 hours. 3. I completed a "repair" of P3D (Having repaired P3D Professional, I actually had to re-download all 'content' files in order to repair P3D Content as well). When I next tried to load the PMDG B777 I got a message informimg me that I needed to activate the B777 Base Package. To do this I had to re-download the files from PMDG. However, I then ran into another problem: the downloads now work from a 'pop-up' (I was unaware of this - thank you Iwebber on this forum). I found that my browser pop-up blocker was active and blocking the download. I rectified this in my browser settings uner 'Security and Privacy'. I was also advised (Thanks to the good folks (thank you Chris M!) at PMDG) to go to "msc.services" and to ensure that "FlexNet Licensing Services 64" was set to 'Automatic' - mine was set to 'Disabled' (again, who knew?!). Having completed all the above, I then ran and completed a flight from EGLL to CYYZ successfully, with no hiccups. I believe the problem can occur with other computer 'games' and apps. If so, it should be possible to follow the generic approach suggested by the above to achieve a solution. Hopefully this will be of help to others who have experienced this DWM.exe failure/crash.

PMDG B777 Base Pack Reactivation problems
roadrabbit149 replied to roadrabbit149's topic in PMDG General Forum
Thank you for the quick response - you were correct and my file is now downloading. Very many thanks and a Happy New Year 😎 -
I am having real problems trying to re-activate my PMDG B777 200 Base package. I have gone through the tortuous PMDG website trying to find out how to re-download the B777 Base Package after a re-install of Prepar3Dv5.4. I have got to My Previous Orders, so have all the order information and licence keys. I then open my B777 Base Package order, and click on 'Download Product'. A new window opens with a window asking me to click on 'Send Verification Code', which I do. I then receive a code via e-mail. I enter the code in the box provided, and then .......... nothing. Nothing happens at all - no download, notthing. Anyone know the solution?
