  2. It’s time to fill in our folders, with the addition of trueSKY heralding the induction of our advanced weather engine. The advanced weather options are accessible via a toggle in the DISPLAY section of the settings menu. That’s not all though, there are a couple of follow ups to our Cold / Dark update from last week, so read on for the full change log: trueSKY Introduction of trueSKY-based advanced weather engine. Weather themes represented in trueSKY are denoted by the “advanced” label in the weather selection menu. These themes will only be available when advanced weather is activated. You can toggle this setting on and off under the DISPLAY section in the Settings menu. Please note: Advanced weather uses the same weather slider under the display tab and may need to be adjusted. 6. July has been pretty hectic in the office, with a string of exciting updates for simmers to sink their teeth into. Last week we introduced passengers to Flight Sim World, and this week we're bringing Cold/Dark starts into FSW. The Cold/Dark updates features a checklist that highlights the levers, buttons and switches you need to press in order to start each aircraft in Flight Sim World. Experts can enable the advanced mode to remove any assistance, get themselves prepped up and then taxi onto the runway. They'll be another exciting announcement next week, so try and keep your heads out of the clouds, but until then we've got a number of other changes so read on below: Cold and Dark Feature Start-up checklists across all launch aircraft to assist in Cold/Dark functionality Toggle advanced mode to go through the checklist yourself. Uncheck advanced mode to be walked through the cold and dark start process with camera zoom and highlighted switches & gauges (ideal for new simmers) You can now choose your spawn location in Free Flight (parking spaces, runways, etc) KNOWN BUG: With the introduction of Cold and Dark, we have discovered an issue which affects the PA-46 and the DA40checklists: If you have auto mixture disabled, you will not be able to start the engine in Assisted Mode. To work around this issue, please make sure auto mixture is enabled in order to complete the Cold and Dark checklist in Assisted Mode. You can find the auto mixture switch in the Settings Menu under Realism. We'll provide a fix in a future update, thanks for understanding! Aircraft Avionics KAP140, KFC225, KR87, KX155, GTX327 and KN62 units now have system start-up splash screens where applicable (or a typical display warmup period) G1000- Annunciators added. 7. We said July was going to be a big month for Flight Sim World, and we weren't kidding. We'll be unveiling a new feature that's coming to FSW tomorrow on our twitch channel. If you're unable to make it, you'll be able to watch the VOD on Twitch or YouTube later in the week.
  8. Just cross-posting this note from Stephen Hood on the Steam forum since it should be of interest: "It’s been nearly two months since the release of Flight Sim World, and I hope that everyone is enjoying it – we certainly are! Before I say anything else, I would like to wholeheartedly thank everyone who has supported us with the launch and continued development of Flight Sim World. This project is very much a labor of passion for myself and the rest of the Flight team, and it’s an incredible feeling to be working alongside an equally passionate community to advance FSW towards being the very best it can be. In case you have missed the individual updates, here is a brief summary of what we have achieved so far: The implementation of Steam Workshop functionality has been a big deal for us given the importance of freeware creation in the community. We’ve seen some talented simmers create some really fantastic and unique missions, which has been great fun to see. We look forward to seeing more of your creations! When we weren’t busy implementing new features, we have been navigating the FSW forums to collect and prioritize constructive feedback from the community. Optimization has been one of our main priorities during the Early Access period. Since launch, we have fixed various crashes including those which affected Pilot Profile and the Pro Mission Editor Tool. Additionally, we have improved performance in areas reported to us such as full-screen mode and multi-monitor support. The community feedback has allowed us to more quickly appreciate the issues people are having and eliminating these problems has been made much easier with your help. Tweaking the light scattering settings it is something else we got a lot of feedback on. It’s taken a few weeks, but the effect the changes have had on the environment are substantial. And this is only the beginning of some incredible visual improvements you'll see in the coming weeks (more on that another time!). We have also made some major strides with our aircraft. Just to name a few things we have improved - the resolution of typical visual issues (texture and mesh irregularities etc), improved avionics (autopilot systems, DME, VOR etc), the addition of ambient motion animations, we've added new landing light effects, and even completely made over the RV-7’s cockpit! We are now working on our sixth update, adding some passenger animations to help bring Flight Sim World to life, along with some fixes requested by those of you who have chimed in on our channels. The last few updates have been relatively small in comparison to what we have planned. We are looking to drop some huge updates later this month. We are particularly excited about these as we believe they will dramatically and positively improve the experience for everyone, regardless of how you like to fly. Watch this space for more news. Finally, I would like to say thank you to everyone who has supported this project so far. It’s been a dream come true working on Flight Sim World, and I can’t wait to share the future of FSW with you all. -Steve Hood, Executive Producer, Flight Sim World"

  13. We also produced a video about uploading your content to the workshop. You can find that here:
  14. It was a pleasure to meet everyone who attended FSC. I had an absolute blast for my first "real" trip to the United States :)
  15. If you get caught in a preparing to launch loop, closing Steam and restarting it will fix the issue. Glad you got it working Walley.
  16. Appreciate any bug / missing feature reports that get shot through. Regarding logging flight hours, you need to select a destination airport (don't have to land at it), but you do have to land at an airport for the hours to log currently. If you're experiencing any erratic behaviour beyond that, then let me know.
  17. Thanks fshobby, I was literally about to say the same thing!
  18. Last week we launched Flight Sim World into Early Access, and hopefully you've spent the weekend enjoying the first step for FSW. Since then we've been on the boards, scouring the reporting forms and gathering feedback to compile a hit list of immediate fixes with an update planned for later this week: Addressing brightness issues on runways Improved lighting on autogen buildings and AI aircraft Improving lighting on the horizon Translation fixes in the UI for German & French Music tickbox is now ticked when music slider at 0 Quitting a lesson now returns to lesson screen Disabled state option implemented in repeat dropdown in Key Assign Panel Livery of the aircraft in Scud Runner mission changed to reflect UI Heavily revised audio for both PA34 and PA46 Momentum effect applied to all aircraft default cockpit views Additionally we're aware that some users have been affected by optimization issues, whilst fine tuning performance will be an ongoing process throughout Early Access, we're looking particularly at sub-par performance on high-end machines. If you're a user affected by this, then feel to contact the support team at dovetailgames.kayako.com. We also have a number of suggested tweaks that may improve your flying experience: Lower the display setting sliders - Scenery and Traffic tend to be the largest offenders. If you're experiencing performance issues, we recommend setting Scenery to mid-high and traffic to low. If you’re experiencing performance problems in Full Screen Mode - particularly if you're using a multi-monitor set up. Set your profile to run in window mode or windowed full-screen. Disable concurrent Streaming (either broadcasting or viewing) We're grateful for any constructive feedback about Flight Sim World and have a host of improvements for next week (including hot fixes to a number of aircraft, their instrumentation and tweaks to the flight model) and larger updates planned in the near future. Don't forget that if you've experienced a bug then please fill out our Reporting Form.
  19. Restart your client and it should work fine.
  20. That's Steam Jargon not ours, sadly they don't have an option for Early Access Simulator :(
  21. Early Access means you'll receive any updates free of charge. We don't plan to have add-ons specifically for the people in Early Access, but we do have some big updates planned!
  22. I'm expecting criticism, we're launching in Early Access and have a lot of planned content to further improve the simulator. That said, I'd rather people keep the criticism constructive, so I have something I can work with. Regardless I'm looking forward to seeing what you all think of FSW.
  23. Welcome back, Content created in the pro mission editor will be able to be shared when we add Steam workshop functionality during Early Access. Hopefully that clears up one of your questions!
  24. We touched upon some points in the road map during the live stream - Cold / dark starts - Workshop functionality - Improved multiplayer - Instrument reading A lot of our focus as we head into Early Access has been on the planes (we really want to set a benchmark for the kind of quality we would like to see in Flight Sim World). That said we've got some big changes to things outside the plane (that I'm not allowed to talk about just yet, sorry!) We'll share more about other changes planned for during Early Access as we dive further into it.
  25. The classic bait and switch. Of course we are launching in Early Access, and we've got some big changes (some of which we're still not able to talk about yet), so stay tuned.
