  1. I won't be able to try these fixes until later today since I'm not home at the moment. I'll report back here after I do to let you all know what did or didn't work. Mike
  2. Good question: When I turn the start key on the Honeywell yoke, the prop does spin and seems to start, so I advance the mixture to full. The prop never fully starts to spin to give me normal RPM and just dies. I've even tried the real world solution to a "flooded" engine by advancing the throttle to full and trying to start it that way. No joy!
  3. Yep that worked but I don't want to use a one button start (it isn't real that way)
  4. I'm also using that Honeycomb yoke. How did you "chase a phantom key mapping" to solve the same problem (I'm assuming that is has been solved)
  5. I actually did that .... I mapped the start engine and stop engine to some other buttons on my CH Throttle Quadrant, and the engine works fine. But... I want to fly like I do in real life when I fly the sim... so..... gotta figure out how to fix this issue and not take the easy (one button start engine) fix 🙃
  6. Nope.... doing everything like in the real plane and it worked the past two days in this sim ... but not this morning
  7. Thanks! I wish I'd get some response to why I can't seem to start the C172. That is REALLY bugging me!
  8. Thanks for that feedback.... When I get back onto the sim later I'll see about disabling it in content manager (I'm imagining there is a way to put a check mark next to it to disable?)
  9. Thanks for the quick reply on the ATC issue. Mine is set to "Azure" ... I will change it to offline to see if that helps. Also, I'm assuming that I have the speech pack installed on Windows since I do sometimes hear voice but how exactly to I check to see if that pack is installed in Windows? M
  10. I've been flying the sim for the past two days getting used to the menus, getting controller switches mapped to my liking, etc. I've been into flight simulation since the late 1980s and also got my Private Pilot Certification flying a C172 SP almost 10 years ago (and got qualified with the G1000 a few years later). That said, during the past few days I've only flown the steam gauge version of the C172 without any problem (priming it first with full pump and mixture control, then starting) Today a problem has cropped up. No matter what I've tried, I can't get that plane to start doing everything by the book!!!!! Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this situation? Is there a place within the sim that lists any problems / damage on an aircraft? Second Issue: I've flown both short VFR and IFR flights over these two days in that plane. I've used the ATC menus.. Problem that has cropped up. When I make an entry, I sometimes can hear what I've said and sometimes I don't hear anything. (note: the scrolling verbiage does show up but not always with the associated sound). Anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions on what I can do to trouble shoot this problem? Lastly.... If you add a 3rd party scenery package (like Orbx London, etc) and don't like something about it (many on this forum have complained that Orbx messed this up and that the default scenery is better!), can you deactivate it in any way to get back to the default in that area? Looking forward to your replies. Thanks in advance! Mike
  11. Using the Honeycomb Alpha Yoke which had the switches, hat, etc. automatically populated by the sim. I've gotten used to how the hat switch was configured (with multiple views of the panel depending on the direction I click it) and the external view. That said, I'd rather have it set up to PAN both inside the cockpit and in external views. In addition to the "default" setup of this yoke, I plan to add a modified setup and change the inputs for the hat switch. Can someone please tell me exactly which inputs to chose in order to do this. Thanks... Mike
  12. Thanks CJ...... I tried all of that to no avail. I JUST DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM a few minutes ago with the help of Greg Sanderson (from Jetline Sytems... who built my computer). It turns out that one of the mixture lever controls on my CHProducts Throttle Quadrant had developed a bad potentiometer which was periodically causing a spike in the signal to the sim, causing a full lean with subsequent engine shutoff in my C172. Since the F-18 wouldn't involve a mixture control, the errant signal spike that the mixture control was sending out served to shut off the fuel. So.... I disconnected that throttle quadrant and flew both the C172 (using the throttle lever and mixture controls on the top of my CH Flightsim yoke) and the F-18 (using only that throttle lever) and both planes kept their engines running fine. Bottom Line: I need to look for a new CHThrottleQuadrant for XMAS. Mike
  13. I just did a search and didn't find anything related to this so I'm posting here now. Using FSX Acceleration. Never had problem flying the F-18 before. Did a full flight two nights ago without problems, but ever since when I try to fly it within minutes after starting the engines they both shut down. (this can happen while just sitting on the ground, taxiing, in flight) There is adequate fuel, no "failures" have been chosen in settings. I'm at a loss to figure out why this is happening. Can anyone help me correct this problem? Thanks in advance for your help! Mike
