  1. More ratings could also imply the product is bad. People rate products usually when they're unhappy with it, they rarely rate it when they have no problems with it. For example Orbx london was a mess when it released initially, this may explain why it has so many ratings.
  2. here are some better pictures, with less scenery and more about the product
  3. source : https://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/155410-aerosoft-aircraft-crj-for-msfs/page/26/
  4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZXTZphgyps It seems microsoft will let unreal engine users build projects based on the same technology used for MSFS. This means any developer using unreal engine will have access to that data. So technically other developers will be able to build their own simulator or game based on the same data used in MSFS (except for blackshark ai).
  5. I have found the keys to accelerate/decelerate simrate but it does not affect time at all. I also want the time to follow the sim speed just like in FSX/P3D, is there no way to do this ?
  6. A 3PD could still make helicopters using WASM modules if they program all of the helicopter aerodynamics
  7. From my understanding this is a temporary fix. Will these PID parameters work on other planes ? It actually doesn't fix the broken PID for lateral heading, but changes some parameters so that it works with the broken PID.
  8. They already said their autopilot team was the largest team, so I don't see the point for them hiring new developers. I think Asobo has a management problem, somehow they believe that hiring more people is going to solve the problem, that shows the managers don't understand what they're doing. I really think they should revert back to the old AP and stop messing with the autopilot and do other things. The AP was fine before apart from the oscillations and it's going to be replaced by third parties anyway. Nobody uses the default AP in other sims. We need seasons, a better ATC .. also it would be nice to have chat and voice communication in multiplayer. And of course the most important is the SDK.
  9. I too am really disappointed with Asobo. I don't know, what work they are doing behind the scenes but apart from the scenery the sim has almost not progressed at all since release. I think this is ridiculous. Maybe MS should stop being nice to Asobo and put some pressure. Maybe let Asobo do the scenery and hire a new team for the simulator.
  10. @robert young have you thought about developing your own AP using WASM modules ? that way it would be independent from the simulator. I have heard it would also be technically possible to write WASM module to replace aerodynamics too but I guess it's a lot of work.
  11. Well currently almost everything is better except for the airliners. Fly by wire are currently writing their own autopilot and fbw system for the A320. The soon to be released Aerosoft CRJ 700 will also have it's own autopilot completely independent from the simulator. So I think MSFS will also win on that side in a couple of months.
  12. They should open-source the auto pilot algorithm. Or make it moddable for each plane. I think Asobo should stop tweaking things they don't understand, and focus on SDK, seasons, scenery.
  13. Seeing the video of Jeff Fav, I wonder how much did REX pay him ? His video is clearly biased towards REX and he didn't even properly compare to the default sim, plus he is downplaying every bug he gets with REX Why didn't he bother restarting MSFS to get rid of the weather bug and compare to the other airports ? No comparison of wind either ! from what I saw on the video the wind depiction on REX is very bad, there is no interpolation of wind between 2k feet and 5k feet plus he had to update to get the wind at 5k. The video is a joke, just like the addon
  14. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-09-21/microsoft-to-buy-bethesda-studios-for-7-5-billion-to-boost-xbox I think with all the money they're investing in games MSFS will be safe for the next couple of years
  15. be sure that you restarted the game if you want weather to work after a first flight
  16. In real life the weather is not generated from METAR, but it's the opposite. If we want "as real as it gets" it's better to have a realistic weather injection from meteoblue and not from METARs. The METARs, just like in real life, should be calculated in the simulator according to real time weather. if it matches 90% it would be good enough
  17. You make it sound like he lost his work, or anything else. There is a difference between stealing a physical object, a source code you've been working for years, a digital product that you expected to make financial gains to make a living ... and illegally distributing a freeware product that's been available for years, a "port" with 99% same files in it and credits to the author. The latter is not a big deal to me, yes. Why ? Because I did not lose anything, no one claimed being the author of my work either. But I just saw that the individuals distributing it are making money through the file sharing website, which I didn't know. This obviously makes this a bigger deal and I would be indeed frustrated if someone is making money from my work.
  18. Maybe a little, but not very much. If it's clearly specified that it's a "port" of my work, and so it's buggy, why would I be upset ? The aircraft ported would be buggy, of course, because the porting doesn't work well. If someone starts to blame me for the bugs, I would simply point out that's not my fault. Even if an ig_norant person would think I'm responsible for these bugs, I wouldn't mind so much. Again that's just me, people have different opinions. I'm just surprised to see he decided to stop developing because of this particular event.
  19. I understand your concerns @mjahn but honestly I'm having difficulty to understand the level of your anger in regard to what happened, because this doesn't seem to be such a big deal to me. Because as you said in the first post, the main (and only) problem seems to be " these faults attach to my name". No one is making money by distributing your product, you aren't losing any either. I haven't found any payware product from your company either, so even if this does hurt your image, I don't see what can you lose. Plus I'm quiet sure everyone in the flight sim community is aware that these are ports and they are buggy and you are in no way responsible for that. I did not download this product and I'm not defending those who distribute without permission. I just don't understand why this is such a big deal, am I missing something ?
  20. Google is not competing against MS in regards to flight simulation, so I don't see the problem for MS here. I think the third parties will be the most annoyed by freeware google photogrammetry, and I bet they are hoping that Google will take action, I wouldn't be surprised if some of them started denouncing to Google what's going on. Why buy any landmark scenery from 3pds if one day there is a software like ortho4xp but photogrammetry4msfs that injects photogrammetry to msfs ?
  21. This is just an import from google maps. It's probably illegal and anyone can do this following a tutorial on youtube. It's unoptimized because it lacks different level of details
  22. Turn off photogrammetry, take off, then turn it back again when you're above 1000ft
  23. The main advantage of DVD compared to when you buy from internet, is that you can share it with friends, you can also sell your DVD. This is why it's important and meaningful to have the "Disk 1 verification".
