  1. Squirrel has some very good tutorials on this subject on his YouTube channel. I have setup two profiles in control settings. One for stick controlled aircraft (Saitek X52) and another for Yoke controlled ones (Honeycomb Yoke). Each Control unit then has two profiles. One I call Null and the other either Stick or Yoke. When flying a yoke aircraft the Saitek becomes Null and visa versa. Squrrel describes this far better than me.
  2. I am presently downloading some local scenery with Manual Cache (estimated time 2hrs 20mins). If I pause the download process is it safe to do some flying and then return to continue the download? Has anyone tried this. Also before one hits the download button is there anyway of finding out what the size of downloaded file will be? Seems strange this facility is not somewhere.
  3. Thanks for the info. Yes having come from xplane it would be nice to be able to click on Garmin's to enlarge them. I'm finding it difficult to turn dials etc. Thanks Mirach. I'll give that a go. Chow

  5. Is there anyway to disable the instrument and switch labels when the mouse hovers over them?
  6. I will watch the space with interest. Good luck with it. It seems we in Europe (Ireland for me) will have to wait until October, so we'll count on you to iron out all, if any problems!
  7. Many thanks for that information. It will certainly save me much frustration. Much obliged. David
  8. I have the yoke which is brilliant. In the process of installing the sim so will look forward to setting it up. I have put throttle on wish list with Aerosoft from whom I've had good service. I think they said it will be available mid October.
  9. Have now spent 24 hours trying to install boxed edition. I'm almost certain my external (cheap) DVD writer is faulty. My question is could I clone the disks onto a USB stick using the DVD drive on my laptop and then install onto desktop from this?
  10. Thanks Alain. I started again with a blue port and it's going much faster. Looking forward to all the feed back on this new simulator. I've over 1800 hours on Xplane so it will be a new experience! David from Cork Ireland
  11. Since last post I've started again on a faster USB Port. Seems to be going much quicker even though it's still going to take considerable time.
  12. Thanks for your reply. I'm an "old timer" so a stupid question... where can I check my USB port speeds? Somewhere in settings I assume.
  13. Many thanks Martin. I am using an external DVD drive. This could be the reason for what seems an excessive amount of time. Or else perhaps Disc1 is extra large I think I read something about this on the Aerosoft Forum. I purchased my edition from them. Sorry can't be of more help. Its now 1.5 hours and I'm still only about 20 percent into disc1
  14. Yes it would appear we'll be up late tonight! Thanks for your reply

  16. Could someone please tell me how long it should take to install the premium boxed edition? I am a small way into Disc#1 and it's take nearly an hour! Thanks in advance. David
  17. How long does the boxed premium edition take to install? I am only into a small bit of Disc#1 and its taken nearly 1 hour! At this rate I could be up for over 24 hours. Anyone experienced with times. Would be interested to know. Thanks David
  18. Receiving my boxed addition tomorrow hopefully. Reading all the above it seems we might need a special forum for over 70's!! I'm 77, ex aviator (general aviation), and have over 1500 hours logged on xplane. My only observation from experience for us old timers is not to panic. It will almost certainly fall into place after a short time. Not as fast as for your Grandchildren but most certainly we'll get there. I'm also Irish and fond of a little tipple of brown milk around 6.00pm. I find this can also calm the nerves! Best of luck and look forward to following all your tips and recommendations. Cheers (Slanter)
  19. Having watched some amazing cinematic videos of the upcoming Microsoft 2020 Flight Sim I am a bit confused as to what add on hardware is used to control the camera. Game and xbox controllers are mentioned. For aircraft control I use the Honeycomb yoke along with Saitek rudder pedals, and the Saitek X52 throttle. I also have a spare Saitek Stick. Could I use this for the cinematic camera movement, or will I have to purchase a game controller? Any advise would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
  20. Hi ReIner on Tour. Changed the frequency of Bremen controls today and all working fine. Just about to register my 10 day trial. Thank you for your help Regards
  21. Thanks to both of you. I'll look into changing Bremen frequency with taxi management. Also Dave it looks like it's illegal to record many UK ATC frequencies. Good to be Irish! Will be purchasing p2atc tomorrow. Cheers and thanks for help
  22. I am just about to register my copy of p2atc but before I do so I have a quick question. Yesterday I flew from Bristol UK to Hamburg Germany. All fine until I was passed over to Bremen control where I had the annoying problem of also receiving continuous ATIS information. Obviously both frequencies where the same. Is there any solution to this? This was using Xplane 11. Also using x-chatter so this is a question which should probably be addressed to them. However readers of this post might be able to answer. I noticed that many of the European chatter originates in Ireland. Is it just a coincidence that I am Irish and live close to Cork EICK that I hear this chatter?!
  23. There must be someone out there with a ready to go GTN.ini file to place in the Carenado Citation S555 aircraft folder in Xplane 11. If there is you might consider helping a 76 year old ex pilot so that he can spend more time enjoying flying, an a lot less time fidling around with software settings!
