  1. Does anyone else feel like on final they feel like the can’t keep the nose steady? I feel like there is this constant up and down oscillation that I fight with my yoke (Boeing thrustmaster). I don’t experience the his with any of my other aircraft including the pmdg 737. It’s very challenging to explain. Same problem with the stock 787 and the kuro… just curious what others think?

Looks like customers are starting to get upset...and banned for showing how frustrated they are.

PMDG makes solid products, there’s no question about that, but this article sums up the customer experience on their forums for the last several years. The communication and interactions have started to deteriorate. I’ve been a customer for twenty years and won’t necessarily stop because of articles like this, but I do feel they make some valid points and things are beginning to become concerning.

KMSP by them interesting.  Their sceneries look fairly decent.  Not up to FB standards imo.  I've heard fps are a little rough or has that improved.

I would agree, they aren't up to FB standards for sure. With that said, it has been way to quiet and I've really missed flying in and out of MSP. Might have to pull the trigger if it's cheap enough.

You seem to have a very bad habit of trying to dog whistle staff here on how to conduct their duties....

You obviously have ZERO desire to buy the CS 717, so why are you so cynical about what others do with their threads, posts or money?

We don't always get our way in life, and sometimes it's better to just let certain things go....🙃

I haven't directed the staff to do any such thing with their duties. With that said, I have no desire to fight with you. I've looked at your comments on these forums and you tend to be a nuisance as seen by your reply here. Go rattle cages somewhere else.

  5. I think a more neutral way of wording it would just simply be, "CaptainSim 717 discussion". I agree with what was said above by @F737MAX

Or, the OP could just request this thread be deleted since now we are censoring people. Title was fine for a week until a few people got their feelings hurt and just like everything else in society these days, we cater to the few.

The change in thread title completely changes its meaning. Now it looks like the OP was excited about CS' new product.

In keeping with what was originally posted, 'Captain Sim returns with 717 - caveat emptor!' would be far more appropriate (and less libellous than the original).

    I agree with this completely.

As a German citizen I am very sensitive to all activism against minorities, especially hateful fanatism acompanied by calls like „Don t buy from …“ or „The … are your misfortune“.

I was very upset that it was even a German youtuber had a fair share in distributing this dreadful and defaming designation „Captain Scam“. I cannot understand that such disgusting threads are not immediately deleted by the admins in this forum.

I purchased the Captain Sim 717 just for protest against these shameless haters and chasers who become more and more in number in our present times and I did not regret it. Thanks for the inspiration!

All I can do is laugh at this. Especially considering this is a flight sim forum. This thread will get locked, but it'll because of nonsense posts like this that take take things to the extreme and derail the entire thread.

Who started this thread anyway?  And agree, what gives them the right to label companies as scammers?  They've advertised a product for sale and offered all the details.  What's the scam?

I’m not saying you’re necessarily wrong, but this is all self inflicted and the community finally had enough. They could of course redeem themselves, but they only have themselves to blame for the reputation and harsh opinions of the community.

  9. To follow up - do not use DLSS for AA with frame generation. If you use DLSS, you will discover you sacrifice a lot! Use TAA instead. You'll lose a few fps (nothing serious) and gain the sharpness you're looking for, but with TAA and frame generation, there really isn't any sacrifice and it's now the gold standard for this sim.

Frame Generation isn't worth the image quality sacrifice. For me anyway. With my 4070ti I get 60fps at 4K, ultra settings all day long. Smooth as silk, too. As soon as I switch to DX12 and Frame Generation I get around 100-120 fps, but the clarity drops probably 20%. It's very noticeable when looking at gauges.

What are you using for your AA settings? Are you using TAA or DLSS?

Thanks, can my 3080 support FG? How do I turn it on?

Unfortunately frame generation is limited to the 40xx series cards. The performance gains you see with a 40xx series card and frame generation is absolutely stunning and mind blowing for me. To get a consistent 100+ fps on a 4k 48" LG C2 monitor is amazing. The lowest I've had were in the 70s during a large FNO event on VATSIM with a ton of traffic. Here is a video that was done a few months back that shows these gains with frame generation. Frame generation requires you to use DX12 and is not available if you use DX11. So I can understand why you may not have the same appreciation for it that I do. Hope this helps!

Can someone please remind me how DX 12 is supposed to be better than DX 11? (I know that DX 12 is still no flushed out yet)

    DX11 - No frame generation
    DX12 - Frame Generation

For me, that's enough. I do get some of the tile issues, but it's not enough of a pester for me not to keep it for frame generation. The scenery tiles popping in isn't super frequent for me either. I believe in the latest twitch stream they pretty much said DX12 is good to go. Personally, I don't have a ton of issues with DX12 and very much prefer it over DX11.

  13. I'm still not a huge fan of the flight model of the 787-10, specifically on the initial climb and on final. I feel like the nose has an up & down oscillation to it and doesn't feel smooth at all. When I fly the PMDG 737, I don't have this problem. It seems very smooth to me. It's hard to explain, but that's probably the biggest thing I'm not a fan of. I also feel like the AP is still to aggressive with some of the changes.

With that said, I'm very happy the direction they are going and I see improvement. While I don't expect high fidelity aircraft, I would like to see more improvement there.

So I have been reading FSElite.net for the last few years, checking to see what new products are out, what is new in the flight simulation industry, etc.  Back in 2020 after MSFS's release, I would say maybe 40% to 50% of the articles were about MSFS or MSFS add-ons. Fast forward to spring of 2022 when the first study level airliners were released for MSFS, I noticed maybe about 70% of the articles were about MSFS or MSFS add-ons.  When I read FSElite these days, about 90% of the articles are about MSFS or MSFS add-ons.  This also means the latest projects and scenery coming to flight simulation are also focused for MSFS.

If FSElite is an indication of the direction of the home flight simulation market is headed, this more or less means, almost all the new toys are coming to MSFS.

I think the Navigraph surveys speak volumes about where everything is heading. I'd say Navigraph confirmed to the community the direction of everything way before FSELITE.

  15. I’m still curious about long haul performance. Asobo finally acknowledged the bug in SU12 that allowed the sim to regress. With SU12, it’s been documented over and over the slow performance degradation with a long haul. Some folks like myself have enough overhead with their system that it’s not the end of the world, but impacts others greatly. Is anyone able to test long haul performance with the beta update?

  16. Is there a specific aircraft you're trying to learn? You're pretty vague about what exactly you are trying to better understand and since MSFS has so many aircraft available at this point, it's hard to send you in a certain direction. If you're looking for something high fidelity like PMDG, Fenix, etc., there are plenty of up-to-date videos on YouTube that'll provide you tutorials.

With that said, lets start here: What are you trying to fly exactly?
