As a German citizen I am very sensitive to all activism against minorities, especially hateful fanatism acompanied by calls like „Don t buy from …“ or „The … are your misfortune“.

I was very upset that it was even a German youtuber had a fair share in distributing this dreadful and defaming designation „Captain Scam“. I cannot understand that such disgusting threads are not immediately deleted by the admins in this forum.

I purchased the Captain Sim 717 just for protest against these shameless haters and chasers who become more and more in number in our present times and I did not regret it. Thanks for the inspiration!

All I can do is laugh at this. Especially considering this is a flight sim forum. This thread will get locked, but it'll because of nonsense posts like this that take take things to the extreme and derail the entire thread.

Who started this thread anyway?  And agree, what gives them the right to label companies as scammers?  They've advertised a product for sale and offered all the details.  What's the scam?

I’m not saying you’re necessarily wrong, but this is all self inflicted and the community finally had enough. They could of course redeem themselves, but they only have themselves to blame for the reputation and harsh opinions of the community.

  3. To follow up - do not use DLSS for AA with frame generation. If you use DLSS, you will discover you sacrifice a lot! Use TAA instead. You'll lose a few fps (nothing serious) and gain the sharpness you're looking for, but with TAA and frame generation, there really isn't any sacrifice and it's now the gold standard for this sim.

Frame Generation isn't worth the image quality sacrifice. For me anyway. With my 4070ti I get 60fps at 4K, ultra settings all day long. Smooth as silk, too. As soon as I switch to DX12 and Frame Generation I get around 100-120 fps, but the clarity drops probably 20%. It's very noticeable when looking at gauges.

What are you using for your AA settings? Are you using TAA or DLSS?

Thanks, can my 3080 support FG? How do I turn it on?

Unfortunately frame generation is limited to the 40xx series cards. The performance gains you see with a 40xx series card and frame generation is absolutely stunning and mind blowing for me. To get a consistent 100+ fps on a 4k 48" LG C2 monitor is amazing. The lowest I've had were in the 70s during a large FNO event on VATSIM with a ton of traffic. Here is a video that was done a few months back that shows these gains with frame generation. Frame generation requires you to use DX12 and is not available if you use DX11. So I can understand why you may not have the same appreciation for it that I do. Hope this helps!

Can someone please remind me how DX 12 is supposed to be better than DX 11? (I know that DX 12 is still no flushed out yet)

    DX11 - No frame generation
    DX12 - Frame Generation

For me, that's enough. I do get some of the tile issues, but it's not enough of a pester for me not to keep it for frame generation. The scenery tiles popping in isn't super frequent for me either. I believe in the latest twitch stream they pretty much said DX12 is good to go. Personally, I don't have a ton of issues with DX12 and very much prefer it over DX11.

  7. I'm still not a huge fan of the flight model of the 787-10, specifically on the initial climb and on final. I feel like the nose has an up & down oscillation to it and doesn't feel smooth at all. When I fly the PMDG 737, I don't have this problem. It seems very smooth to me. It's hard to explain, but that's probably the biggest thing I'm not a fan of. I also feel like the AP is still to aggressive with some of the changes.

With that said, I'm very happy the direction they are going and I see improvement. While I don't expect high fidelity aircraft, I would like to see more improvement there.

So I have been reading FSElite.net for the last few years, checking to see what new products are out, what is new in the flight simulation industry, etc.  Back in 2020 after MSFS's release, I would say maybe 40% to 50% of the articles were about MSFS or MSFS add-ons. Fast forward to spring of 2022 when the first study level airliners were released for MSFS, I noticed maybe about 70% of the articles were about MSFS or MSFS add-ons.  When I read FSElite these days, about 90% of the articles are about MSFS or MSFS add-ons.  This also means the latest projects and scenery coming to flight simulation are also focused for MSFS.

If FSElite is an indication of the direction of the home flight simulation market is headed, this more or less means, almost all the new toys are coming to MSFS.

I think the Navigraph surveys speak volumes about where everything is heading. I'd say Navigraph confirmed to the community the direction of everything way before FSELITE.

  9. I’m still curious about long haul performance. Asobo finally acknowledged the bug in SU12 that allowed the sim to regress. With SU12, it’s been documented over and over the slow performance degradation with a long haul. Some folks like myself have enough overhead with their system that it’s not the end of the world, but impacts others greatly. Is anyone able to test long haul performance with the beta update?

  10. Is there a specific aircraft you're trying to learn? You're pretty vague about what exactly you are trying to better understand and since MSFS has so many aircraft available at this point, it's hard to send you in a certain direction. If you're looking for something high fidelity like PMDG, Fenix, etc., there are plenty of up-to-date videos on YouTube that'll provide you tutorials.

With that said, lets start here: What are you trying to fly exactly?

I'm still holding out hope that we finally get a world class Atlanta.  I feel like inibuilds will tackle it eventually but who knows.  So many letdowns with ATL over the years.  First we find out Fly Tampa was going to do it, only to have them kill it later.  Then I was excited to learn of a hand crafted atlanta only to realize it was average but not great.

Agreed - would love to see a good Atlanta completed. With that said, I would also like to see FlightBeam start to pump out some more fields... MSP and SFO would be great. Feel like every 3 months we get teased lol.

  12. One thing I did notice after completing a flight this afternoon is while I get great performance, I am noticing more frequent stutters on approach. Flew in this evening from OAK and on approach the stutters kept hitting. None of them were long, but more frequent. While my settings are high, my LOD is at 150/150. Hoping we can see that improved. Otherwise I still get great performance.

That was a good bit of info and wish he'd have posted it as part of the official update 🙂 ... seems like things are going really well with their 777 given the positive but very short updates RSR has been giving, maybe they're holding back for a bigger reveal/preview soon-ish. I am still guesstimating/hoping for a release by 4Q23 at the latest.

I agree - I wish he had included that information in his original post. That's the information I think most of us would like to read about.

  14. Without reading into it too much, I must say I’m pretty surprised by a reply Randazzo just made on their official forums regarding the performance of the T7. Looking at this post, it would seem the T7 is nearly done and with even better performance from lessons learned after working in the 737. I’m hopeful this is actually the case. (Reference here: https://forum.pmdg.com/forum/main-forum/general-discussion-news-and-announcements/258753-will-777-have-same-smooth-perf-as-737)

Currently it is much lighter on the machine than the 737NG series, because we have learned a TON about how to optimize for the new platform that we didn't know when we started the 737.

I am pretty confident that the performance will remain this way, as about 90% of the functionality is already in place. Two items still to install are the tablet, which will go in during testing, and then we still need to texture the cabin- which is incredibly high resolution.

Overall I think the risk factors for a loss of performance are pretty small at this juncture- and it is highly likely to release with a smaller memory footprint and a better overall performance footprint than the 737.

This might surprise some since "well gosh, it is a fly-by-wire airplane." This is sort of a hilarious smokescreen that you will see get thrown up by folks who don't really understand what FBW is or what it does. If you are flying an airplane with a flight director- then you already have about 90% of the FBW computational aspects in place. FBW then marries the AFDS control law to provide certain behaviors, which it does via control law through the AFDS and F/D.

The FBW system on most airliners is being run on a computer processor that cannot run MSFS. It likely can't even run a single app on your smart phone. The processors and memory modules and EEPROMs are laregely mid 1990s technology- excepting perhaps some of the brand new designs such as the A220 and A350, but even the processors running those machines are pretty week, pretty slow and not very razz-mataz.

To pull the curtain back a bit further: Every PMDG airplane you fly is what we call "fly by software." We don't really care if it is a cable driven flight control or a full fly by wire suite like the 777 or 747-8, because the goal is to have the math make the airplane fly like it's real world counterpart. We do this using the same techniques that a full FBW suite on n actual airplane does.

So the fact that 777 is a FBW airplane doesn't really make it any more complex for us. We are already doing all that controlling in the background to give you something that flies like the airplane.

    Cool, huh?”
