  1. Hi All I am pleased to announce the release of 0.6.8 of the Improvement Project compatible with Sim Update 9 🙂 https://flightsim.to/file/21221/bonanza-g36-improvement-project New in this version: After the addition of the Asobo prop modelling physics and the new CFD simulation the performance figures were well off, these have now been fixed and are as close as I can get them to the POH figures. We are at most 2/3knts TAS out from our testing and within a sing gph or less for fuel burn. Fair winds Matt
  2. Hi All I am pleased to announce the release of 0.6.7 of the Improvement Project compatible with Sim Update 8 🙂 https://flightsim.to/file/21221/bonanza-g36-improvement-project New in this version: Added functionality to Hangar Module (we now save engine hours, miles flown, and count down to annual and 100hr service per livery) state saving items are shown on the State page (menu link at top) Fixed missing altitude alert tone @200ft to go Tweaked fuel flow as current flow slightly less than book figures (Rpt by @JayDee6281) Fixed missing decimal point to manifold pressure gauge Added SU8 Prop Modelling - This has changed the speeds/fuel flows it may take a little while to dial this in. At the moment the climb fuel flow is slightly lower than book and cruise is about there. P.S. I’ve just noticed a bug has creeped in with the total hours in the hangar panel which I thought I had fixed. I will release a small bugfix in the next few days.
  3. Call for interest! Hey all, I was chatting to a friend the other day about organising a Bonanza Improvement Mod Multiplayer flight and wondered what the interest might be? I was thinking something on a weekend and at a time that works for both US and EU time zones, perhaps something in the region 1900 UTC which would be 1400 EST / 1100 PST. Perhaps lasting around an hour or so flying between two interesting locations and checking out things as we go. We would host the event on our Simulated.Flights Discord with the ability of people to use voice or text chat to communicate. Who’s In? Thoughts? Ideas? We are a great community and it would be awesome to get together with a few of you. Matt
  4. If you'd like more info about the improvement mod happy to answer any questions, take feedback etc. We also have a discord you can get involved with https://discord.gg/JVPMYdKx86. My aim is to add as many systems and modelling as I can. Currently refining individual spark modelling & fouling.
  5. Thanks @mikegrr I'm really enjoying developing in MSFS and want to push to model as many systems as I can, from deeper engine logic like spark fouling to a complete electrical system.
  6. Hi All I am very pleased to present the MSFS G36 Improvement Project version 0.6.6! https://flightsim.to/file/21221/bonanza-g36-improvement-project This is the improvement project for the MSFS default G36. It all started as a simple edit of some configuration files but it has since grown into a fully-fledged modification that improves all aspects of the default G36 and introduces new features. This was made possible with the help of the community consisting of both enthusiasts and G36 pilots (for a list of contributors, see the end of this readme). We now have a discord channel! https://discord.gg/JVPMYdKx86 or you can continue to use dedicated MSFS forum post https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/g36-improvement-project/216094 I really value your constructive feedback. Installation Download and install the Working Title NXi from the store Marketplace Download and unzip the folder ‘bonanza-g36-improvement-project’ in to your MSFS Community folder The Bonanza G36 Improvement Project is now listed as it's own aircraft in the menu rather than overwriting the default aircraft (please see livery note) PLEASE NOTE - WE HAVE REMOVED THE 'Z' FROM THE FOLDER NAME, ENSURE YOU REMOVE THE OLD VERSION PRIOR TO USING THIS ONE!! New in this version: NEW! Custom Livery provided by @Crispy136 (Thank you!) You can find more of his liveries here https://flightsim.to/profile/Crispy136/uploads NEW! Added TAWS system test message NEW! Integrated @BufordTX's VR Friendly Prop Mod NEW! Changed environmental controls to read C° rather than F° NEW! Spark Plug Fouling - if you don't lean correctly both on the ground or in the air your plugs will encounter spark fouling, loosing RPM and engine power. Each spark is modelled independently and has its own likelihood to foul; this stays across flights, the spark most likely to foul will foul first followed by the next etc. NEW! Bonanza Hangar; You will manage your aircraft here, check for spark fouling, oil changes and more. This is still very much a WIP feature Reworked Engine performance figures: after more than 30hrs of testing and tweaking, the engine performance figures match the POH as close as we can get them and have been verified by real Bonanza pilots. TAS is within 0.22kts on average across the altitude spectrum and fuel flow within 1g/h. Fixes Fixed: NXi Engine System Page spacing Fixed: Aircraft getting stuck on the ground. Changed nose height on gear to reflect reference pictures, increased nose gear damping affect, thanks to Synoxys787 for his help and research Fixed: Missing registration and ASI error, thanks to Bert Pieke on Avsim. Fixed: Incorrect circuit for PFD, removed sharing two busses. (@meh1951) Fixed: Increased brightness of taxi & landing lights (@meh1951) Fixed: Missing '=' in the bonanza hangar. (@DA40CGDFQ) Liveries We have split out the files from modifying the default Bonanza to becoming its own aircraft. This is so we can complete further 3d model changes, and work on the hangar module and deeper systems modelling. Liveries will need to be amended to reflect this new aircraft to work. More information here https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/g36-improvement-project/216094/1943 Features: Flight dynamics/performance Adjusted climb and cruise performance to match the Bonanza G36 POH charts. Adjusted flap and gear drag Slightly reduced pitch effect due to elevator deflection + propwash Slightly increased nosewheel steering angle Added drag due to cowl flaps. This causes a 3-4 kts cruise speed loss. Decreased yaw sensitivity by lowering deflection rate as a function of speed Increased overall stability: less 'twitchy' feeling Engine & Fuel system Completely overhauled engine parameters: realistic fuel flow, mixture-EGT interaction, engine performance at all pressure altitudes. Simulation of Spark Plugs Simulation of the electric fuel pump More advanced simulation of engine start-up:Cold starts: correct use of the fuel pump, throttle and mixture required depending on engine and ambient temperature Under some conditions, idling the engine too soon after start may cause it to quit. Flooded engine: pumping too much fuel to the engine may cause it to ignite slower or not at all. Flooded engine start procedure (mixture low/cut, throttle halfway) may resolve this. A hot engine running idle with little airflow may quit because the fuel evaporates. Systems Added new working systems and switches:Airco (has a negative effect on engine performance, you will see a few kts lower cruise speed) Airco and ventilator switches are functioning and part of the electrical system Annunciator test Electrical system overhaul:Completely revised electrical buses: all individual systems hooked up to the correct bus Bus tie logic added Correct voltage indications of BUS2 due to reverse current blocking diodes Correct alternator loads Made all indications smooth, rather than instant jumps to a new value Autopilot tweaksFixed holding the wrong altitude at non-standard atmospheric pressures Max pitch and bank angles adjusted for smoother AP behaviour Added maximum and minimum IAS_ref speeds for FLC mode Adjusted autopilot PIDs Integration with the Working Title NXi mod, with customized ENGINE, LEAN and SYSTEM pages. Completely redone G1000 annunciators: all annunciators of the real G36 were implemented (except for door open warnings) Corrected fuel gauge scale Textures & effects Including the latest version of Uwajimaya's lighting mod (https://uwajimaya.github.io/FS2020/) Corrected decals (e.g. shoulder hardness -> harness) Checklists Interactive checklists for every stage of your flight that follow the POH ATC You are now referenced as Bonanza > Your Callsign in the game ATC AIRCRAFT PERSISTENCE / STATE SAVING / MAKING THE PLANE 'REAL' (WORK IN PROGRESS) Your aircraft now remembers how you left it! States are saved for each aircraft livery, so you can multiple 'living' Aircraft. On first flight load of the new 0.6.6, your aircraft is set cold & dark with 64 gallons of fuel. The aircraft now saves the following tank levels, switches and levers every 5 seconds: Left & Right Fuel Tank Level, Battery 1 & 2 switch, Alternator 1 & 2 Switch, Parking Brake lever, Avionics Switch, Airconditioning Switch, Blower switch, Vent Blower switch, Aux Fuel Pump Switch, Magneto Switch, Pitot Heat Switch, Prop De-Ice Switch, Strobe Switch, Beacon Switch, Nav Light Switch, Flood Light Switch, Panel Light Switch, Taxi Light Switch, Landing Light Switch, Fuel Selector , Position, Defrost switch, Throttle Position, Propeller Position, Mixture Position, Cowl Flap Position, Flaps Switch, Flaps Physical Position, Pitch Trim Position, Aileron Trim Position, Floodlight Brightness, Pilot & Passenger Yoke Visibility, When you next climb into your aircraft you will find it just as you left it! NOTE: The aircraft state is only loaded if: You are on the ground in a parking spot or You are on the ground somewhere else and your engine is off. This allows the aircraft to load in flight or ready at the end of the runway without messing with the aircraft load. It WILL however, still record switch states and tank levels etc. Our contributors (by their MSFS Forum name) FrettFS, CaptMatto, Coppersens, Uwajimaya, dciskey, Matchrocket, JuiceBox7535, jonasbeaver, Exp232, nickc95, GuiFarias31 and MrTommymxr. Special thanks to the Working Title team for their excellent NXi implementation!
  7. I think your right, I may need to tweak how long it takes to start the fouling, currently it starts to accrue after about a minute and then gets worse on a scalar of time. I may also need to relook at adding a logarithmic scale based on rpm. I have found at idle it kills the engine pretty quickly if there is some fouling. I'll have another go after work today.
  8. Thank you for your kind words!!! I'd be interested in any feedback regarding the fouling simulation, it is very much a work in progress whilst I pin down the various variables involved.
  9. HI All Just a quick note to say that I have pushed out a small update based on user feedback on the speed it takes to foul the plugs. You will need to aggressively lean when on the ground, if you encounter fouling at low RPM’s (<1000) you are at real risk of the engine stalling. It may take us a while to dial these figures in. https://github.com/TheFrett/msfs_g36_project/tree/development
  10. Hi All I am very pleased to announce the release of 0.6.6 BETA 4 Installation: 1: Download and install the Working Title NXi from the store Marketplace 2: Download from the Github Development Branch and unzip the folder ‘bonanza-g36-improvement-project’ in to your MSFS Community folder ⚠️ PLEASE NOTE - WE HAVE REMOVED THE ‘Z’ FROM THE FOLDER NAME, ENSURE YOU REMOVE THE OLD VERSION PRIOR TO USING THIS ONE!! ⚠️ Change log: NEW! Spark Plug Fouling - if you don’t lean correctly both on the ground and in the air your plugs will encounter spark fouling, losing RPM and engine power. If you leave the plugs fouled the engine will continue to lose power until finally shutting off. After leaning the effect will take a time to work itself out. NEW! Initial Aircraft Hangar - in game panel. Will tell you if your aircraft has been subjected to spark fouling. New! The Bonanza G36 Improvement Project is now listed as its own aircraft in the menu rather than overwriting the default aircraft - this allows the use of both our mod and Robert Young's turbo. New! Aircraft Persistence, all switches and fuel tanks are saved between flights New! Aircraft Persistence, saves for different liveries - have multiple Bonanzas in your fleet all with different personalities Reworked Engine performance figures: after more than 30hrs of testing and tweaking, the engine performance figures match the POH as close as we can get them and have been verified by real Bonanza pilots. TAS is within 0.22kts on average across the altitude spectrum and fuel flow within 1g/h. Fixed: NXi Engine System Page spacing Fixed: Aircraft getting stuck on the ground. Changed nose height on gear to reflect reference pictures, increased nose gear damping affect, thanks to Synoxys787 for his help and research Fixed: Missing registration and ASI error, thanks to Bert Pieke on Avsim. Please give this a test and let me know what you think. I’d value as much feedback as you can give, if there are no issues I’ll be pushing out a full release to flightsim.to in the next week. Enjoy Matt
  11. Wow! Thank you!!! Thanks for pasting your camera settings, I'll have a look and see what the team think. 🙂
  12. We have spark fouling in test at the moment 🙂 I'd like to add as much depth as we can over time. I'm not a IRL pilot so it takes a while to make sure that what I read and learn about the G36 engine and piston mechanics is referenced to our real world bonanza pilots to ensure we are as accurate with the modelling as possible. A fantastically steep learning curve but also fun (maybe) he he. We'll be incrementally releasing features as we refine each one rather than saving them up for a big release.
  13. @bobcat999 thank you, that is very kind! I really hope we can reach some of that fidelity, as with any project lots of learning, but MSFS has some fantastic potencial. I'm so glad we have a couple of real Bonanza pilots on the team who can validate our changes. 🙂
